  1. This made me laugh hard The weight limit is not because of the flight attendants. It is so people don't take kitchen sink with them on the plane. Flight attendants are not allowed to lift carry on bags at all. Pay attention on your flight. They will not touch it unless they have to shuffle it inside of the overhead bin.
  2. Drive 7 hours with driving instructor... I was surprised too. My wife did the written exam for the learners permit. After that she could go 2 ways: 1. Take the driving exam at the local DMV 2. Take Driver Education class online exam and enroll with local driving school, to have 7 hours of driving with them. After 7 hours of driving around, they've issued a certificate that she can drive. With that we went to DMV website, uploaded the certificate, and about 1 week later her DL arrived in mail. However, No.2 cost here in Virginia about $350. We went with No.2 so the instructor would give her pointers which maybe I've missed while teaching her. Nope. It turned out to be just drive for 7 hours, no driving instructions whatsoever. And No.1 is free, up to 3 times a month
  3. Same thing with us. We did 2 intl trips in the last 6 months and both times no problems. We had our marriage certificate just in case but nobody ever asked for it. GC is in married name and wife's passport in maiden name. Remember to book your wife's travel with her name in the PASSPORT I had that question for one of the European embassies (my wife had to apply for a Schengen visa), and I didn't know if I should put her new name or old name. It was cleared by the embassy via email. Always use passport name.
  4. Have your girlfriend type the address in her language, export it in MS Word to PDF and send it to you. That's what we did with my wife. At the time I couldn't write Thai alphabet. Also, if I remember correctly there are pages at the end where you can add more information if you need more space. If your girlfriend cannot use the form page where is asking for the address in the native language, use the extra page. I wouldn't glue, staple or hammer down anything on the forms. That's why you have extra pages to add additional information. On that page you put that this is addition for page 7, Question No.3a etc. Good luck!
  5. I also don't know what is welcome letter? We did K-1 and didn't get welcome letter.
  6. People really pay $1000 and up for home insurance? We are paying around $350/year for a townhouse. We don't have big streamline insurance company, just a small local (County) firm. It was recommended to us by a friend. I remember calling big insurance company, and at that time they wanted something in the range of $500. So I highly recommend shopping around for a local insurance broker.
  7. Week ago we've got letter stating that the fingerprints are being waved but they will keep the cash anyway.
  8. Just checked the case status and it updated to this. What does it mean? Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken As of June 28, 2022, fingerprints relating to your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXXXX, have been applied to your case. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
  9. Yesterday we've got letter from CIS. They've acknowledged receiving $680 in money order and stated that my wife's green card is now extended by 24 months from the date it expires (September of this year), and to have that letter with her whenever she travels outside of the US.
  10. Same thing with us. Yesterday evening we've got text message that it was accepted and case number.
  11. Sent package on 13th, received in Phoenix on the 15th. I guess next step is to wait for the letter saying that the case is pending?
  12. We posted ours yesterday June 13th via USPS. That was the first date available for us and we did it despite being the 13th The good thing about being on the 13th is that I've sent our original documents for K-1 on January 13th 2018 and got approved fast.
  13. We are in the process right now filing I-751. I was also wondering what will happen after her card expires in September and how we can travel in November. Thankfully VJ answered all my concerns Extension letter until she receive her 10 year GC.
  14. Thanks for the input. House/car were owned before she moved in, so it's not with both of our names. On my life insurance from work she's as my beneficiary. I'll start preparing the forms and supporting documents tomorrow. Very anxious. Also, I've been reading a lot of other I751 posts, and it seems that it takes up to 2 years to get it approved. My wife's GC expires in September, how is she going to be able to leave the country in November? We are planning to travel to Thailand since she hasn't seen her family in over 3 years. Do we need to apply for some kind of permit? Thank you!
  15. Hi, We'll be submitting our I-751 in 2 weeks. This is what we are attaching to the form. (besides the usual as DL with the same address, copy of the passport pages) - Joint W2s and 1099 - 3 different bank statements (saving, checking and checking) - Joint car insurance policy - Health insurance - Credit cards with my wife as second card holder - Our boarding passes from the overseas trip which we took in December - Couple of pictures of us together from our travel House and car was owned by me before she moved to US. I can't think of anything else to add to the package. We wont be submitting any affidavits as I don't see the point. Is there anything else to add to it?
