I finally got the letter approving my Naturalization today, and scheduling my Oath Ceremony.  It is scheduled for May 28, 2021.

    Here is my timeline:
October 2018 - Applied for Removal of Conditions (I-751) in October 2018
September 2019 - Applied for Naturalization (N-400) in September 2019
March 9, 2020 - Naturalization interview scheduled for April 20, 2020, then canceled because of the pandemic
September 2020 - Naturalization interview scheduled for November 3, 2020
November 3, 2020 - Had Naturalization interview. Interview went well, but was told a decision could not be made on Naturalization because of my pending I-751 application
November 4, 2020 - I-751, Removal of Conditions, Approved. Received letter saying that I would not receive a new Green Card because I would be scheduled for my Oath Ceremony soon
    ...................
Five and a half months of no information followed, after several calls to USCIS with no information, three separate inquiries to my field office that all came back "your application is still being reviewed" (which means they didn't even look at it). The entire time, my USCIS profile status was March 9, 2020 - We scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, which was obviously wrong, as they had not updated my profile page in over a year since then, despite multiple things happening.
    ...................
April 22, 2021 - We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.
April 22, 2021 - Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.
April 22, 2021 - Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed

So, all in all, it will have been 20 months (September 2019 - May 2021) from N-400 application to approval.  Extremely relieved, but also frustrated at the long periods without any explanation for delays, while seeing people in the same field office get approved on much shorter timelines.

Y'all, my journey has ended! As of today, I am a US citizen! It was quite an emotional moment for me. I am now a dual citizen of both Germany and the US.
    My timeline:
15 September 2017 - arrived in the US with marriage-based conditional Green Card
27 June 2019 - applied for Removal of Conditions
11 September 2019 - ready to schedule interview
28 August 2020 - applied for US citizenship
January 2021 - case inquiry about ROC
02 February 2021 - naturalization interview was scheduled in Louisville, KY
10 March 2021 - combo interview for both ROC and citizenship - I had a phone call on the morning of the interview informing me that it would be a combo interview and to bring my husband
    14 April 2021 - oath ceremony

I want to thank everybody in this forum for their support and wish everybody who is still in the process all the best and loooooots of patience!!

Send a request for what is called a Service Motion.
They can re-open it using this - it is specifically within their powers to do so, so a letter and/or infopass clearly stating you didn't receive an RFE, so were unable to respond to it should eventually get it sorted...of course getting someone with an ounce of intelligence at USCIS to read the damn thing is not easy.
It happens more than you think with RFE and interview notices.

The other option rather than waiting for a response to the above, is simply to file an I-751 again (and pay again) - with a letter specifically stating the late filing is due to the denial of the first filing in error.

And yes, before you ask, you can continue to work and remain a Lawful Permanent Resident until an immigration judge says otherwise (if you did nothing you would eventually get an NTA with a court date)

    Correct,
Call and make an infopass for a stamp. Stamp replaces need for expired card & letter.

It may require some persuasion. Someone started one day before their card expired. In that case, some argument was needed for their HR to accept. Good luck!!

JoJoJoJo reacted to Ecaen87 in 751 rejected due to payment info incorrect, but it is correct!
Maybe the bank declined it, maybe the person typing the cc information entered it incorrectly. Regardless of the cause now your application is delayed weeks/months. The safest way to make sure your payment is received is sending a check or cashers check as I did.

Can you call your credit card company and check? Perhaps it got flagged as a fraudulent transaction and (incorrectly) denied.

This is why I ended up sending a check. Now that it's taking 4-6 weeks to process/accept I-751s, if you lose your credit card or it gets stolen and need to cancel it, your I-751 payment will be rejected.
  16. Thanks
JoJoJoJo reacted to Tella&T in I-751 January 2021 Filers
So sorry it happened! Our credit company stopped quite a few of our transactions because they ( or their algorithm) viewed it as suspicious. We always have to tell them we intend to travel to a different state (!!) to make sure they do not block our purchases. Maybe that is what happened?

    UPDATE:

Looking at the December filers thread, seems like the applications received in the last week of December are being processed/having their checks cashed/CC charged etc. This means Jan filers should start seeing movement on their cases in next few weeks. Please update the January spreadsheet with your case details if you haven't so that everyone can get an idea on how things are moving wrt USCIS processing times. Thank you!

    To head off some questions
    0. We used a USPS money order for the check.
    1. The documents were not redacted - account numbers, amounts, etc. were visiable
    2. tax form for husband - IRS had sent back the originally submitted 2019 return for an issue with the signature. I refiled.  I wrote the certified mail number and return receipt number on the resubmission 1040 and provided a copy of the certified mailing label and return receipt label showing the Department of Treasury Address.
    3. Wife's electronic filing - we did not have any confirmation emails or the like , so i did not include them.
    4. We file as "MARRIED - FILING SEPARATELY" and have each others name and ssh listed on the 1040s.
    5. The insurance cards for both vehicle has both names.
    6. we are each others beneficiaries for ad&d, life insurance and 401ks.
    7. the affidavits were from one family member, the only live family member of my wife, and then 3 friend/friend couples that have known us for some time.
    8. We had a bunch of travel and printed the airline reservation, hotel reservation and put the associated pictures with the itineraries so that it could be grouped.
    9. We bought a house about a year after getting the green card and moved across the country. Both names are on the deed and mortgage.
    10. Vehicles are titled in each person's name respectively. not jointly titled.
    11. In the cover letter, we identified that my wife changed her name from madden name to married name. We included her passport with her married name as evidence of the name change.

fingers crossed we won't need an interview.
  23. Thanks

    Finally sent the package today.
    Filing window opened - 01/04/2021
Package sent - 01/08/2021 via UPS

Looking at other previous month's trends, I'm guessing the best case scenario would be 7-8 weeks till I see anything(check cashed etc.) on the case. Keeping my fingers crossed now.

Anyone who has filed this month, please update it here in the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet has links to the previous months sheets and it gives all of us a good picture of what's happening with regard to time it is taking for processing. Thanks!
