IndiaAnnie got a reaction from Vabsmith in Mumbai Consulate - Any recent "IR" interviews/interview scheduled?
Brace yourself for my honest feedback ha ha!!

Pro: I will tell you that after three years through K1/CR1 and watching many people through the process it would be my personal opinion that female fiance's from India are rarely denied. My husband and many other male fiance's on the other hand were/are not approved (due to assumption of fraud wanting to marry an American woman for Immigration whereas that assumption does not exist towards an Indian woman wanting to marry an American man - clarifying that I mean location of citizenship and not ethnicity). I guess my point is that she has a high chance of approval in this K1 situation overall.

Con: When you attend the interview in Mumbai there's a slim chance (not impossible but slim) that you will even be allowed to the window. I attended...was told to sit down (and moved as far away as possible by security officers) and we received a 221g with no explanation. We had other friends on the K1 interviewing same week...one of which attended and another who did not...both approved. Also, God forbid anything go wrong and you do get a 221g you'll have a long journey ahead and may need to make a second (or third trip) if you attend in person for the interview.

P.S. I went for the first and we received 221g. I did not attend the second (CR1) and he was approved. Go figure!! 😁

    Win/Win:
Personally, I believe it's more important that you honor her parents wishes (because it's already hard enough to be part of an extended multi-cultural family) and that they feel comfort with their daughter and grandchild walking away in your care. I think it's also good for her to be empowered and show that she is confident/capable of managing the process (just arm her with photos, summary of your story, your job details, income, etc. so she's well prepared). It's just a happier ending for everyone involved.

Wishing you the VERY best through the next steps!!

Great input. Thank you so much. I’ll be watching for more embassy reviews as a few couples of similar background are going through the process now (NOA2 =>) and will hopefully share their experience with Mumbai embassy. Good luck to you as well!!!

Yes, can't figure out how to update the VJ spreadsheet. Received 10/23 for interview on 11/22. Husband picked up current PCC last week and will go for biometric in Chennai on Nov 11th.

The WhatsApp group has 17ppl for July (all but 4-5 now have IL for late November). There are about 14ppl in group for August (no IL yet) and so on with people getting DQ now for September forward on submissions.

Could get a nice surprise with the rest of July covered with IL tonight!! 😁

Mumbai wait for interview is 3-4mths from DQ and each embassy runs different so expect an interview letter within 90-days (hopefully sooner). You'll have to find other people on VJ from Jakarta to get a better idea of how long people are waiting.

No one at NVC is using the term. People in the groups are using it interchangeably. The email says:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate General overseas. NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in MUMBAI (BOMBAY), IND to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable).

The process may state specifically that once your documents are qualified then you receive notice that your case is complete (can't remember exactly but likely why they're being used interchangeably).

DQ = CC (and vice versa) on VJ, FB and Whatsapp groups

Mumbai states that they are denying all requests unless life or death currently. You will hear back in 3-7days with response. They would be working on July scheduling this month for November so you'll likely get a December interview. You are getting close so hang in there!!

Very sorry thought I was replying to the Aug CC thread. There was half of May (16th onward) that was skipped by NVC. They moved ahead to June dates and many dozens have called to complain, sent emails, etc. You should be receiving your IL any day and they're scheduling for November now. I am a July 11th CC and expecting the same as the October interviews went to June cases. We are all watching and praying that they clear you and others with May dates very next in line. It was definitely an error and they should make it right ASAP.

Trend over the past few months in the WhatsApp group is that they send Mumbai on Wed/Thurs and heavy around third week of the month (tonight/tomorrow should see activity). A few came through last week up to May 15th and Dhaka (who always releases before Mumbai) cleared all of May/June last week. Everyone has high hopes for next few days...

Call NVC and ask them to reschedule your interview for XX date after medical is clear and available. You might start a new thread topic in main section so people with same issue can comment. There are a lot of delays for treatment needs in the threads.

We went through the K1 process in Aug 2017 and changed passport in the middle of the process for renewal. They asked for the updated forms at our interview (because the numbers didn't match) along with affidavit of support, tax and bank records (even though people say it's never requested or required). We had it all prepared and handed it over. We were placed in AP for 8mths and abandoned for marriage in India and filed CR1 after they never processed his Visa. Could be normal practice or could have been a bad officer... we'll never know. No one on the forums back in 2017 mentioned it being an issue and everyone, including us, thought that NOA2 was a guarantee of visa (why wouldn't we be approved with fully loaded packet, affidavits from family, extra prepared forms, etc)? So...now I share the reality with others and pray that no one else has to go through what we did.

You need to anticipate and expect anything that they could ask for and have it ready with you. You just open your saved I-130, update your info and take a fresh signed copy with you...in case they ask for it or it becomes an issue in the interview. Prepare for the unexpected in Mumbai and hope for the best outcome.
