D&Jmora got a reaction from JMK_IT in AOS AUGUST 2018 FILERS FROM K-1 [merged threads]
@ababsurd what a racket! These CS have a lot of nerve! I'm glad you were able to figure it out without spending TOO much money. The last thing you need on top of the stress of this process is to break the bank doing so! Thank you SO much for this info and good luck with the rest of your process!

I was in your husband's same identical situation: I did my medical in March, the day before the K1 interview, but my DS-3025 was incomplete because I only had one MMR vaccination listed.

I did the second vaccination at a Wallgreens for $99. My medical insurance fully covers all vaccinations, but the earliest appointment through an in-network provider would have been in September, and I wanted to file for AOS as soon as possible, so in the end I chose to pay out of my pocket.
After I got the vaccination I got in touch with more than 30 civil surgeons (not exaggerating), and not a single one of them was willing to just follow the USCIS instructions, which clearly state that K-1 applicants who had their medical overseas DO NOT need to do the full medical examination again if they are filing I-485 within one year.

I only needed the CS to file part 4, 6 and 9 of Form I-693 to state that I completed all the vaccinations required and I was asked up to $400 to do the same exam that I did 4 months ago. Unreal.

In the end I was able to find a medical facility where employees were a little more knowledgeable about the immigration processes and they did the transcript for $150.
It is still a whole lot of money, plus the $99 for the vaccination, for a total of $250 which is a higher price than the full medical I did back in Italy.

Keep calling CS until you find one who is fully updated about all USCIS requirements. Bring up what's stated in the instructions, and eventually you'll find one who's willing to comply with them. Hopefully you'll be luckier than I was, and you'll be able to obtain a transcript for a cheap price. I see many applicants who were lucky to find a CS who just asked $30/$50 for it.

If you send your AOS packet after the expiration of your I-94, it won't really be a problem. Mine expired at the beginning of July and I filed on July 29. I received my NOA1 yesterday. It is always better to file asap to avoid being out of status, but if it's just a matter of a few weeks that you will use to complete the medical requirements it will not really be a huge deal.

As long as you file his AOS before your I-94 expires, you're fine. After his expiration date and with no AOS pending, he will start to accrue out of status time which counts later if he chooses to become a US Citizen in 3 years.

Hi. May filer here. Thought I pop in and see if I can help.
One more thing you should add to your packages is a cover letter for the entire package and also a list of the attached documents for each form. Also, make sure you separate each application. Your EAD will stay at NBC, but your AOS package will go to your local office. Any questions, feel free to ask. I will try my best to answer them.
    Good luck!

Everyone list is different depending on what is needed, however, this is MY checklist; however, I deleted things that are based on things privy to our case. This is the mandatory requirement list. I would recommend that you review the instructions for each form so you know what required evidence is needed.

    Hello,

    All 3 options are doable.
IMO, You should definitely send your AOS package now, even if the I-693 is not ready, because wait times for EAD are long (4 to 6 months) the longer you wait, the longer your spouse will stay home and I am sure he is already eager to get back in the working life lol.

I did not personally adjust from K1 and did not send the I-693 with my package and didnt get an RFE for it; but you can look at the January 2018 thread and see that many sent their package without the I-693, because depending on your field office it may expire by the time of interview. You should not  receive a RFE for it but a courtesy letter after receiving the NOA1 reminding you that you did not submit the medical exam with your original package but you should be ready to bring it to the interview or when prompted by them.
Then after sending the package, you have time to find clinics or be covered by insurance to take care of the vaccines.
For your question about EAD and AOS not being related, well actually they are, because the EAD is based on your AOS so they are related.
So if you receive a RFE for anything on your AOS, the EAD is on hold until they receive the response to the RFE.

I hope I made sense, in summary not sending the medical exam should not be a reason for RFE ( from my experience and many others seen on VJ but they are always new updates with immigration), but getting a RFE in general for your AOS will pause the processing of your EAD.

    Good luck

I had the same issue trying to tell civil surgeons that only the vaccination section was needed, but everywhere I called they wanted to do the whole medical over again. Try getting your vaccinations cheaper at a health clinic and then take the vaccination records to the civil surgeon so they can fill out the medical and vaccination section. My husband received the two vaccinations he needed for much less then it was at the doctors office.

Money wise and all option 2 sounds decent. Can schedule an appointment a head of time too. If you end up going over by even a few days to send in the AOS after the I-94 expires it's okay. Relax. It happens.

Option 3 you can try but they might not even accept the packet without any medical info in there so might never get a chance to even get an RFE.

Hey everyone, hope you are all receiving the wonderful updates you've been waiting so patiently for.

We have our Embassy interview in 2 weeks! I just wanted to double check here in case anyone has any experience with cosponsors... how important are the supporting documents for MY i-134 if I don't meet the guidelines?  My dad is sponsoring my fiancé and he has sent me supporting docs. I also have to submit the i-134 right? What about all of the other evidence?

    Thanks for any insight!

The beneficiary takes the original, signed I-134 to the interview along with the back-up documentation. That is how it is stated in the Canadian Packet 3 requirements, and I would assume most, if not all, embassies are the same in this regard. However, it's always best to double check your Packet 3 and Packet 4

    @Naes beat me to it!

No, it isn’t not a requirement to send to uscis.
yes only bring to interview, or if the embassy says send it with the packet 3, send it with the packet 3.

Yes correct.  Beneficiary brings  I-134 Affidavit of Support to the interview.
I guess you could look at it like...after your noa2 approval the rest of the process is on the Beneficiary to submit. 😁

My questions are about the things highlighted green.
I read somewhere that the doctor needs to see a carnet de vacunas. My fiance has one from when he waslike, 5 years old. Will it matter if it's old?  We sent the doc our Embassy interview date (April 26) and they scheduled the other appointments (lab april23 and doc april 24). What I don't understand is that if it says the gonorrea test takes 48 hours to show results, why is it scheduled one day before the medical exam? Not just for us either....apparently that's the norm.   I appreciate any insight!!! We are SO excited and SO nervous to have everything perfect...we don't want any surprises

Mil gracias y dios lo bendiga!
