sweetadams got a reaction from Orangesapples in Work is going to terminate me as my green card has expired, I am removing conditions
Your status as a legal permanent resident does not expire with the physical green card expiration. Once an Employer have you verified through the e-verify system, then there is no reason for reverification. This is just to avoid unnecessary discrimination since most delay for permanent green cards aren't the fault of the filer. USCIS and the govt understand there is delay and bottleneck and such should not affect the applicant in terms of their job status.

What a daft thing to say. Proof of status - which is what we are talking about here - is not the status itself, which is why what this employer is doing is illegal and very discriminatory, and such procedures are supposed to prevent this exact thing from happening.
My last physical card expired 5 1/2 years ago when I first filed for removal of conditions, and last usable extension letter expired 4 1/2 years ago.
My proof of permanent resident status has existed in photo-less stamp form only since then...but I’ve been a permanent resident and legal to work throughout.
There is no legal requirement to have a drivers license or state ID, so by your logic I should be unable to work?
How about I just wear an armband with an immigrant symbol on my arm to mark me out for extra discrimination? That worked well in the 1940s.

Congratulation, your director seems to value your input to the organization. Please get your Drivers license as soon as possible. It is a very important means of identification, local travel and other places just ask for it more than they ask for your GC. Also it will save you some headaches in the future.

UPDATE: I spoke to my director this morning and she said they are going to make an exception in this circumstance because it's a difficult situation. I am over the moon right now!! They said they will use my home country passport and also I need to give them a copy of my extension letter once I get it. I'm just happy it's done with! Thanks for all of your great advice. Phew! That was a close one. I'm going to get my driving license as soon as I can to avoid this in the future.

It is still illegal to ask you for a new green card. Do you have a drivers License? If they want a photo ID, send them your DL, Speak to the HR manager and send them the link. Also, please call USCIS and ask to speak with a tier 2 officer, if you are in luck you might want to see about infopass.

I did not get an alert, I based my perceived transfer on an email when I made inquiry on missing receipt notice. In the email from the lockbox it mentioned my case was transferred from the texas service center to potomac service center. So I assumed my case was transferred but reading online much later and calling USCIS tier 2 officer, I found out my case was never transferred out of SRC.
PD is Feb 7th 2020.

sweetadams reacted to Villanelle in I-130 Denied today. Filed concurrent I-130/I-485. Interview was scheduled last month but notice never arrived.
Im sorry you are having such a hard time with all this! The sad reality is many times minorities are discriminated against or treated poorly but you should try not to assume that anytime anything bad happens its because you are a minority. Bad things happen all the time to everyone. USCIS messes up everyones cases equally!
You can (and probably should) pursue filing a complaint but honestly your focus right now should be on getting your case reopened and not the complaint aspect. The only way to get your case going again is to file the motion. You can use an attny or do it yourself. You will have to pay the fees but when its determined to be their error you can get the fees back. It will be a long time for the fee to be returned and you will have to pursue it for it to happen. For your motion you show the proof you have and they will check in their system what happened. They will see it played out exactly as you said since everything is tracked internally. When they see the interview notice was not sent they will reopen your case(s). If you can afford an attny to do the motion use an attny. If you can not please make sure to research the 290b to make sure you are filling it out correctly- there are various ways to fill it out. One way goes to the local office to review and act on- the other goes to the BIA to review. You want it to go to the local level because they can easily undo the error. You dont need to go through the BIA for something like this. If local offices were open you couldve went in through infopass and probably got this fixed with out even needing to submit the 290b and paying the fees. But because the offices are closed/reduced staff you need to do the 290b and pay. Again keep your focus on getting this reopened and deal with complaints later.

If you have any question on your AOS to Naturalization, the VJ family will help shed light on anything and everything. I didn't use a lawyer either, and I am sure there are VJ family members that when from AOS to Naturalization processes that didn't use too. It takes time to plan, patience to wait, and money to executes, try as much as possible to avoid RFIE, RFE------ these add unnecessary delays to your case. This can be avoid by including all documents and accurate fees requested for in your applications.
Welcome to the process!!!!

Pictures alone are not worth much. Focus on all aspects of your life together. Have you been added to the lease and back account? How long have you known each other? How many visits did you have before this?

sweetadams got a reaction from ivy19 in Filed Dec 2019 but case still stucked at Case was received
I agree with you, calling a million times won't move the case timeline. The only thing that I believe move a case is either AR-11 - If transferring to a different jurisdiction; filing N-400 which can force action on your case and finally getting your senator/rep involved if case is out of normal processing time.
All cases above and below my receipt number have been approved while mine is still stuck as "fingerprint applied"...I also think each case officer handling determine how fast your case get processed.
