Yes! I know she isn't on here often. Nor on this forum so I just wanted to give people some hindsight that there are some approvals but it looks like it really depends where you are living!

I'm starting to get sad this ead thing is taking so long!!! Bahhh!    I'll keep you posted when I hear anything !

Seems Pittsburgh is really speedy! On the FB AOS group someone from Pittsburgh was pretty quick as well!
But record is New Hampshire so far!

    I'll do the same! :)
Lets hope we have some kind of status soon!

I am still waiting on my EAD (3 months in)

A friend who lives in a different state than I going through this process got her EAD & Travel doc 2 months into the process. AND TODAY she got her approval for i-485. instant approval about 3 months after applying. Her case status tracker didnt even update. She didnt even have to have an interview! The letter told her she is approved and her permanent residence card (green card) will come in 3 weeks.

    WOW WOW WOW.  lucky girl.

Was it the girl who posted in our old Whiners thread? :)
    I just saw that!
Second one I noticed from Pittsburgh being so fast!

Btw, no movement on my side either!

For those who remember me: Canuck here, moved to Pittsburgh September 23 2017, married November 4, sent in paperwork a few weeks later, biometrics December 26, EAD/AP came in end of January, and just received a letter I have been approved for Green card, no interview! Hubby and I seem to have a horse shoe up our butts during this process we started ONE YEAR AGO! It’s been one year, guys! I hope all of your luck turns around soon too! 🍀 stay positive and hopeful for a speedy timeline!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!! :)

    Wow, you went high speed!

    Good luck for the future!

Pittsburgh seems to be a speedy field office. Second one I read having everything fixed so fast! :)

Yeah I have noticed that the majority of people in here are on other visas other than K-1 like a few of us it seems. I tend to skip over those questions because I have no answer for it. So I have stayed silent here more often than not and might just quietly fade away into the background. My friend who used VJ said she hardly used the AOS forums because she found it so irrelevant to her k-3 at the time. lol And that was over 10 years ago.

I'm more on the silent side here as well.

    Just tried to be helpful.

I agree as well, although the actual filing is the exact same process, same aplicaciones, same fees.... I’m sure if there is anyone in this forum who knows anything that may help her, why not ask? I have actually gotten a lot more answers from here ( again being a b2 filer with the same process and times) than from other forums.

Of course she can ask for help here as well, no doubt.

But since her stuff is specific I thought she could use the specific forum.

I didn't tell her to leave here lol

  6. Yeah but that's a specific question for exactly the other forum where way more members are who are filing from tourist.
Why not show this member the way to more competence?
And I guess there is a reason for 2 separate forums, since the filing itself is different.

Plus: This thread is actually for already filed and monitoring progress. The member up there hasn't even filed yet and needs help.

    Hello Everyone,

I need some advice on Adjustment of Status. I have been reading this forum and wanted to see how is it that you all started your case.

Yesterday I spoke with two lawyers and a gentleman from USCIS and all told m my husband and I are eligible to do an AOS. My husband has a tourist visa and we got married December 29th 2018. I thought that AOS would not be an option for us because he had arrived the 27th and we got married the 29th and he left back to Dominican Republic the 6th. I went ahead and started an I-130 petition and did not choose the Adjustment of status but the consulate in Dominican Republic. All three people told me that since he has had his tourist visa since may of 2017 to just come back into the states and to file a I-487 with a letter to revise my I-130 they event said he could have legally stayed in December when we got married and could have filed right then for an AOS but every time i read up on AOS i get back a lot of negative feedback as to I should not do this and that it could be considered fraud. I am truly lost at all of this because all three were all so positive that this is an easy process and that we are definitely eligible to do this without any issues. Can any of you shed some light on this with your current cases?

My husband also spoke to an attorney in Dominican Republic and was given the same feedback. I just dont want to move forward with something that could bring us risk.

You are in the wrong subforum! This one here is for AOS from a K1 visa.

Please go there and ask your question:

Hello everyone. Sorry for jumping in. SWe haven't filed for aos yet but are curently filling out the forms. COuld I ask you guys if you sent any proof of relationship with it like we did for the petition itself? If yes, what was it besides wedding pictures. Thank you lots!

We only printed 5 pictures of the wedding on 2 sheets of paper. That was all. No RFE so far!

A friend didn't even submit pictures and just sent the requested documents. No RFE for that either.

I think its a thing of the past becuz I've heard people say it all the time. However only thing i can confirm is they may expedite if the active duty is being stationed overseas and it's def. based on the case

Yeah, might be a past thing.

I know you can expedite if the service member is deploying (what is mostly the case with CR-1), and you can expedite N-400 if you get stationed overseas. But also not necessarily.
I will maybe learn more in the future, because our ROC might collide with the next PCS. And if it's going to be overseas I'll see.

But expediting anything JUST because you're with a military service member is definitely wrong.

  11. 5 hours ago, Wayoo said:

    Congrats dear...

I heard applicants married an officer in any of the Armed Forces gets automatic expedition on their cases... Could this be your case? And if not, could you please tell if you did anything extra...

    Thanks...

    You heard a fairytale! :)

Military spouses don't get anything expedited because of marrying a service member.
We are having the same waiting game like everybody else.

The only MAYBE possible case, where you could expedite a K1 or so is when the active duty member has to deploy.

  12. 24 minutes ago, Marzena & Stephen said:

Jan 31 the i485 status changed to ready to schedule an interview. I got all excited but apparently that just means they sent my documents to my local office and it can stay in that status for a while but who knows.

    Correct she didn't expedite.

    And thank you!!!

    Wow, no expedite IS crazy!
Although I even read of people who got bumped straight to the GC before the EAD/AP even arrived.
    I guess that's a roulette game!

Hm, yeah I read about that a lot. Can stay like this for months :(
How far behind is your local office?
Mine should be in May 2017 right now lol
    Might take a while!
Edit: Just calculated... if it stays like this they will reach December 2017 in September, so I'm kind of MAYBE due between end of September and mid October.

    @TearsOfBabylon

We have the same biometrics date!

I am still waiting on my EAD aswell

Did your case tracker update at all after your biometrics ?

    Oh nice! :)

No, nothing changed. AOS is on "Fingerprint Fee Received" and EAD and AP are on "Case Received".

My timeline here on VJ just got pushed back further today. AP is now in middle of April, while EAD stuck at end of March. I'm curious if that will be any kind of close to my real date.

I wonder how you are coping with the absence of you usual crazy social life:) Must be harder for you than for most of us boring people.

Hehe, I wouldn't call others boring people. I'm boring myself! And I love it!
But yeah... I can't let it get close to me. Just right now someone I know has release party for his solo record, where I absolutely would be and lots of my friends are. I also avoid watching concert videos, to not get homesick. Because I do miss my busy lifestyle, although I'm happy here. If that makes any sense! :)

(Edit: See... got a Livevideo sent right while I was typing that haha )

We filed end of Feb after Thanksgiving. Had biometrics on 12-29. Some others who filed right around us have received their AP/EAD so hoping it is not too much longer!

Ugh then good luck for it being there soon! I just looked, my AP timeline is now in middle April and EAD still in end of March. I'm very glad I'm not so much in a hurry to get it, but I'd like this limbo with no status being over.

Ok.. We sent the AOS packet last Wednesday. That was 21st February 2018. Based on USPS tracking, it was delivered on the 24th. So far, we have not heard anything from USCIS. Not even an E-Notifcation of Application/Petition Acceptance (G-1145). What's the usual timeframe for this?

Also, when I sent the AOS packet, I have not received my Social Security Card. I received that yesterday. Should I update USCIS with the info? If so, how could I do that?

Mine took about 10 days and 3 days from the e-notification to the letter in mail. No worries. :)

Thanks! To be perfectly honest a lot of my last relationship falling apart was my own fault. It had been a while since I was in a fulfilling relationship and brushed off some warning signs that ended up coming to bite me thinking that everything would be okay. I broke a lot of my own personal rules and paid for it. This time around, I had a lot more confidence and my spidey senses turned up to 11. My fiancee and I have had some minor situations which allowed me to see how she acts under anger, stress, and disappointment, and not just under the most ideal circumstances. It really helps you grow closer, know, love and understand someone when you can share some hardships together.

As for filing quirks, if you do file a second petition within two years of having another approved petition, you have to ask for a multiple filer waiver and give an explanation of the circumstances. There's technical details I'm not exactly 100% clear on, like if you had your petition formally withdrawn before a K1 visa is given if it still counts as approved or not since the process was never actually completed and the beneficiary received nothing. My thinking is they just want to keep people from bringing in multiple people on a K1 as some type of scam.

It's good you see things clear about that past. It's important to progress and move on. Same for me; my relationship before was horrible and it took me an eternity to finally admit myself that it will NOT be ok.
After that it took me almost 2 years to even allow my now husband to meet me in person. He just picked on me for that the other day, hehe! :)

Wow, I didn't know that! Hopefully that goes through! To be honest, I wouldn't know if I would not have gone for a CR1 in these days, since K1 takes almost the same time, even more if you add AOS time.

Yeah of course they want to keep people from doing this, and I totally understand the intention. Enough out there and enough idiots who jump from woman to woman to woman... I'm glad it's not that easy.
Just read of someone who had the third petition going on,... from the same African country, and so on and so on...

So, keep your chin up and march on. Luckily you're not one of these creeps, so you'll get through well! :)
    May it take time!

Yes, this went a lot faster than I anticipated. Our personalities and senses of humor are just so perfectly compatible. It feels like being with one of my life long friends. I had to watch my words with my ex, but not anymore. 😂 There's a wonderful sense of freedom in it.

As for the process, they cashed my check yesterday and I'm waiting on NOA1 again.

Oh wow! That was really fast! Second K1 in less than a year! Few! :) You must have a strong and big heart for being ready for that again so quickly!
I hope you will find happiness now and go through the process without scrutiny! Good luck!

Hey girl! So happy to see good old fellow Marchies posts here!

Don't think we are whiners after moving to our beloved :)

Good to hear everything is good with you! Keep on going!

As for us: we sent our AOS package on January 26th and our NOA 1 date is February 6th. Also this weekend got a mail with biometrics date set on March 6th.

So happy! No web-site/application or e-notification update though.

And in the meantime we are preparing for the wedding in fall, late October to be more precise. A lot of stuff to do and not so easy but we keep moving to make our dreams and plans come true. Sometimes I feel sad and miss my Ukraine but I guess it's just a matter of time staying home alone doing nothing in particular and absence of super tough work schedule I had in Kiev for the last 7 years. :)

Heeeeey! Good to read from another known face! :)
I'm happy everything is going good for you!
I totally get it regarding doing nothing. I have been on my job working through the last 10 years with not a single sick day - minus a surgery -, went to at least 2 concerts a month and went down to zero. Have to get used to having the daily walk to the mailbox being the highlight, hahahaha :)

Nah, no whiners anymore, you are right. But we've been a fabulous group of March Whiners, so it doesn't have a bad taste! :)

    Hello dear March whiners!

Long time no see! But I'm happy it's all for the good reasons, I hope everyone is doing well and life is so much better next to your sweethearts :)

Has anyone had any developments with AOS (or more like EAD?) The 87 page thread is overwhelming, so I hope y'all forgive me for asking without reading LOL

Cheers! Congrats everyone on all the weddings and even babies! :)

    And one more! :)
Glad to read from you as well! I hope things are going good for you too!

Regarding AOS: Nothing, haha! Waiting game, but I'm not really waiting. It will happen sooner or later (rather later, what else!)

@pajobra: Great, congrats on your volunteer job! At least something to do! :) :)

Ok so 5 weeks and nothing is too long. What now ?

    Yeah, that's way too long!
I would try calling again to having them resend your confirmation letter. Seems like it got lost in the mail maybe?

I don't know why they say you need to make an info pass. I was at my local office for biometrics 3 days before moving and have asked if I can do the address change there, and they said it has to be by AR-11. Ok... they also told me I don't need to change my husbands address, what was actually wrong.

Try a few calls, maybe you end up with someone who knows.

@geowrian? Do you have an idea what to do?

    Good luck!

  17. @Diego&Dianna: Congratulations! You look beautiful! All the best for your future! :)

@pajobra: Haha, good to know someone saw I'm gone! :) Nah, it was really busy here. We flew around, then we moved, time flies! How's life treating you in CO?

@Eric&Olya: Oh, I feel you! I'm not in a hurry to get to work, because after all the stress in the last 9 months I finally get to just stay home. BUT... staying home is not healthy. So I'll look into taking the GED for now.

@gob332: When did you file AOS? I did middle of December, but I just looked on my timeline for fun and saw my estimate got kicked back to the end of March. Before it was beginning/middle. Seems February has a curse on, since last year in Feb all the delays in the K1 started. So many of us got soooo lucky to slip through with such a short processing time.
I feel so bad for people, seeing they wait 220+ days for NOA2 now, while my ENTIRE process took 139 days.

Super! Danke fuer den Tipp! :)

The timelines keep getting pushed back.  Ours is now at the end of March, beginning of April.  It's pushed back almost an entire month.  I don't get it.  We literally JUST did this with K1.  You would think it would be so easy for them to just get the file turned and on it's way.

Same here. It got pushed back from first week of March to last one!
I'm not soooo bad in hurry, but it would be nice to finally be over this limbo.
