Just send a copy of the certified translation.  That is what they want.

You may want to consult a lawyer.  If you qualify, then the property managers cannot discriminate against you.

We received our NOA2 and scheduled interview during the first round of US embassy staff reductions.  It took about 2 weeks after the embassy received our petition (beginning of September) to schedule an interview for October 25.  And it appears that the interview scheduling timeline is even longer now, and will get more delays with  more staff reductions.

So glad we are not in that mess any more.

Do not worry about it.  The K1 medical exam is good, and flu vaccine is not required.

You can get Rubles from your bank in the US so you don't have to pay the high exchange rates at the airport.  I had $200 worth of rubles when I first arrived in Moscow.

Beware, the clerks at the taxi desk will initially try to charge you a high price, stick to your "guns" and haggle with them and don't pay more than $40.  And most of the time the clerks know English well enough to understand what you are saying, although if does not hurt to learn as much Russian as you can.

Do the interview in Kiev.  Much faster than Moscow.  We waited 2 weeks to schedule an interview, and another 5 weeks for the interview (this was September - October 2017).  Now the process and waiting is even slower in Moscow embassy.

Other couples with same NOA2 and NVC dates only took 2 to 3 weeks to schedule and conduct interview in Kiev.

Did you already give the embassy the Tax returns?  Normally that is done at the interview.

There should be no issue with the tax return, whether it is 1040 or 1040EZ.  Many people use the EZ form.

No one can answer this question for you because no one knows the time YOUR petition will take for NOA2 approval, and then NVC routing, Embassy receipt and processing, interview, and post interview processing, and visa approval and issue.

    Every visa case is different.

For BEST ESTIMATE, expect the ENTIRE process to take approximately 12 months based on the present timeline for people going through the process now.

Send in your petition, and wait patiently.

tanderson64 reacted to KimchiLumpia in My K1 Visa Advice For New Members
Like many first time Visa Journey members, my fiance (now wife) were extremely stressed and overwhelmed with the K1 Visa application process.  We considered hiring a lawyer or using one of the many online immigration services.

Through a lot of research here on Visa Journey, we grew confident we could complete this process ourselves.

My wife and I started her K1 Visa process application in November 2016, had her K1 Visa approved in April 2017 and were married in July 2017.  She received her SS#, AED/AP all with no problems.  We are currently waiting for her AOS interview.

We could not have gotten this far in the process without the help of VJ and many of the members here.  Doing it ourselves have given us a new understanding and appreciation of the immigration process.

I’ve gotten a number of messages and questions about the K1 Visa process.  I wanted to share my advice to help others navigate the K1 Visa process and how to get the most of the VJ website:

Update your timeline and profile.  It helps the VJ community give more specific information if we know which country your foreign fiance is from. Once you input your country, look for the "Portals" tab.  The "Portals" section will have a wealth of information regarding your country's consulate, timetables, embassy reviews, and more. Here is a link to many abbreviations you will come across on this website and during the immigration process:
http://www.visajourney.com/content/us-immigration-abbreviations I recommend viewing VJ on a laptop or regular computer.  The information on VJ is jumbled on cell phones and does not show user's signatures after they have posted.  In my signature, like many others, I've posted a detailed timeframe of my VJ experience.  When you view VJ on a regular computer, it looks much different than on your cell phone. When replying to posts, keep it informative and good natured.  Disagreements are natural on any message board.  However, moderators will delete posts that are offensive or do not contribute positively. Some of the information on VJ is old and may not be currently applicable.  The guides are a tremendous help, but, double check with the government websites to get the latest forms, instructions, information and fees.  And ask VJ members from your foreign fiance's country their input as well.   You must have patience.  The immigration process is not quick.  You will have ups and downs, worrying, and will envy seeing other VJ members receive their petition approvals while you continue to wait.  While waiting, continue to collect evidence supporting your relationship. Keep in mind that applications from high fraud countries typically take longer to process vs. low fraud countries.  In our fast paced, gotta have it now world - having patience is truly a virtue in the visa process. Never plan your wedding, buy airline tickets, or reserve a reception hall until the visa is in-hand.  RFE's, incorrectly paid fees, incorrectly completed applications and the such will set things back even further.  Only cement your plans when the Visa is in-hand. Contribute!  There are a lot of lurkers on VJ.  But, this community is only as good as the contributions given by its members.  A great quote I once heard, "When we teach, we learn twice".  So ask questions, give advice, get acquainted, and welcome!
The K1 Visa process is time consuming and very stressful.  You will go through many ups and downs waiting for your petition to process.  Have faith, and know that many VJ members have gone through the same experience - and are here to help!

Good luck on your Visa Journey!

Don't know if you have interview date yet.  We went through same process.  Keep checking the web site - we waited 2 weeks until, suddenly, I checked the website one morning (West coast US time) and interviews were available.  From the current scheduling, it looks like they only do 1 or 2 dates a month for K1 visas.

Also, if you don't already know this, there is a limit to how many times you can log in and check for interviews before the site locks you out for the rest of the day.  I think the limit is 5 times.  It resets at midnight Moscow time.

    Good luck.

Yes you can do this.  US Customs and Border Protection has a pre-clearance station at the Vancouver BC airport.

She will go through US border control at the airport, and if everything is good, she can board the plane to the US.

Here is the website with information: https://www.cbp.gov/border-security/ports-entry/operations/preclearance

I recommend you call the office in Vancouver BC to confirm, but there should be no problem with visa to US.

As long as she stays in the airport, she will not need a transit visa.

The only issue I see is a 1 hour lay-over might not be long enough to go through the US border and make the flight.  Last time I went through Toronto from overseas, it took about 2 hours.

I can tell you from first hand experience that the embassy will not ask for this.  All they wanted from me is my Affidavit of support and 2016 tax returns.  They asked me what I did for a living during the interview.

Lesson learned though - always make copies of all the forms you complete!

Good luck, and don't worry about the interview - the staff is friendly and the interview was easy.  Make sure you have all the documents listed on the embassy website and everything will be good.

And if possible, have your fiancee do the medical as early as possible.  We are waiting for completion of the 6 week TB sputum test.  Very frustrating...

If the embassy approves he visa, and medical results are not available, the embassy will hold the passport and then issue the visa after they receive medical results.

tanderson64 got a reaction from mskinner in Scheduling the Interview
NVC does not set interview date.

When the embassy is ready they will send an email to the petitioner to schedule interview.  You will need to fill out DS-160, enter the confirmation number at UStraveldocs.com account, and then pay the visa fee through Russian bank.  Wait about 24 hours for the visa fee to clear, and then enter the invoice number in your UStraveldocs.com account.

When everything is done on UStraveldocs.com account, you just wait for appointment times to be available and then select from available dates.  When interview dates finally opened up, we had one date to choose from.

    Good luck and be patient.
