Thank you, I already know that from the website,  I just needed some info or recommendation from folks who went in New York City.

FYI the skin test is no longer acceptable for TB as of 10/01/2018 only blood tests are used for the form.

Oh that’s good to know! I had my medical on 9/26, so I guess I just got away with doing the skin test still.

If anybody in Southern California is looking for the cheapest doctor in the area, there is one in LA that does it for $120.

    Hello Everyone,

I have questions about the interview and medical exam.

How long does it take for the medical Exam?

What is the cost? does the Medicaid cover any of it?

How did you choose the doctor?

    Recommendations from NYC are welcome

You can choose USCIS appointed doctors on the USCIS website. The doctors can decide how much they want to charge for the exam, so every doctor will be different. I have heard prices from $100-$500. I suggest you call different doctors and ask what the fee is. It typically takes about a week for results as they need to submit the syphilis and gonnorhea tests to a lab and then around a week later they need to see your arm because of the tuberculosis skin test to see if your skin reacted or not.

Insurance typically does not cover the exam.

They want to intimidate you, don't allow them have peace, USCIS will not disclose any information to anyone other than you and your attorney! If you are being Represent by an attorney your ex-husband attorney have to communicate with you representative not directly to you is protocol, and your attorney have the right to denied any  communication on your behalf your case is no one concerns, Remember in VAWA case you are your own petitioner, is all YOU. Proving an abuse to received an immigration benefits without needing your abuser.

    @Gogetter18

USCIS will not even disclose information over the phone to the petitioner or attorney as there is no way to verify that it’s them. USCIS will only communicate through writing about VAWA cases and only to the mailing address that was provided on the petition.

After the abuse my Husband withdrew my immigration paperwork and my GC was denied and my EAD was terminated in June 2017.

I filed my VAWA in August 2017 and my attorney told me that I can not apply for EAD until VAWA gets approved so I was waiting till I found out here in this form that I can apply for EAD through i485 C9 while waiting for VAWA so I applied for I485+EAD together on May29th did biometrics and still waiting! it has been 5 months since I applied for EAD I don't know if it was taking so long because I didn't send VAWA+EAD+I485 together or if it is something else:( I hav been with no job no income no driver license all my identifications are expired for almost a year! if anyone has any suggestions for me please do let me know I appreciate all your help.

EAD can take up to 5 months.

If you filed on May 29th or before, you are considered out of normal processing times and can inquire here:

So Do I have to leave the job which i got after 8-9 months of handwork and study if my EAD denied.

Well if your I-485 (Green Card) gets denied, you are denied to be a legal permanent resident, so you no longer have any immigration benefits and have to leave the country.

But why do you think you will get denied?

USCIS will issue an RFE if they need more evidence.

Thank you. I'm just scared they send an RFE and I miss the time frame to submit the right paperwork. All because he doesn't care to send my paperwork.

Are RFEs sent until they strt working on my case or at any time? I still didn't get an RFE...

USCIS typically sends RFE’s either right after you submit your petition or when they start working on it (for VAWA that’s currently 16-21 months after you submitted the petition)

i got my EAD in the mail today but i am very disappointed. The date of issue is march 2018 and it expires in march 2019. Cat C09. Not sure why it is like that. I may have to renew it ASAP.

Does any one know how long it takes to renew a EAD now a days. My VAWA is still pending. I filed VAWA in April 2017 along with i485 and EAD

I’m divorcing why my husband for one year already, because he doesn’t respond. In November is final hearing. Yes, I agree, it makes no sense to be in relationship. He got a restraining order, how I can remain married? It’s absurd. But attorney was very confident by saying that I’m not eligible, she runs millions doll law office, downtown etc, she said and it doesn’t matter he was citizen or GC holder, I have to wait 5 years. My heart stoped.

Well she is wrong. Per the link that I posted, the memorandum, it was added that VAWA based GC holders can apply for naturalization after 3 years.

Hi everyone. I have a question about naturalization. I married in 2014 with American citizen,  applied for VAWA in 2015, separated in 2015. Got green card in 2017. Now divorcing, I hope this year 2018 ll be divorced. Question: am I aligible to apply for my citizenship in 3 years or not? Attorney who helped me with my case says to me that I’m, and it doesn’t matter I’m divorced separated etc, because it doesn’t make any logic to be married with abuser. Today I called to one attorney, who is pretty expensive, she said NO, I’m not. I have to remain married, and VAWA does not give me exception to apply for citizenship in 3 years. Please, advice me smth.

When you receive your GC through VAWA you can apply for naturalization after 3 years even if you are divorced from your abusive ex-spouse. See link for memorandum below.

    https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/pressrelease/PolMem89.pdf

My personal opinion is that you should be divorced from your abuser before applying for citizenship because I think it looks fraudulent to still be with the abuser 3 years after VAWA approval/receiving your GC. I think the officer adjudicating the naturalization application will question whether the VAWA claim was fraudulent if the victim is still married to the abuser that many years after.

Hi Everyone! For those who had their I485 put on hold? Are you also receiving this email from USCIS? I get it every 2 weeks. I’m askin because I’m not sure if they put mine on hold. Maybe it’s a good sign?

This is a normal message everyone gets. It’s an automated inactivity email. You can turn them off in your account, so that you only get notifications of activity.

Hello everyboby. I hope all of you are doing well.

Pls help me: My case is approved and now being at the local office. I just have received the additional evidence to complete I-693 because i didn't submit with vawa. But USCIS said that i donot need to submit now, othewise will take it into interview appoiment, submiting it now will delay my case..

Can you guess how long would i get the interview notice after getting this notice for I-693?

Have any person got the same experience? Thank you so much for any your reply.

This completely depends on what timeframe of applications your local office is working on right now. If you want to know more you can always make an InfoPass appointment. Depending on the I-485 processing times at your local office (if less than 12 months), you could get the medical done now. But it all depends on how far along your local office is

The lawyer did the form 912 and a letter, explaining that I don't have access to my husband income and the income is below of the line of poverty.other than that nothing else

Did your attorney submit one of your pay stubs as proof that your income is below the poverty line?

Work with your attorney to collect proof of what you claimed on the fee waiver. That should work. They just need to see evidence.

I'm September 2017 filer. This waiting is killing me. I'm on the 3rd prima facie for 2 months. No update on my online account. Never have any emails state that they change my name or whatever. It's only silent.

No need to worry! I had never gotten an update on my I-360 either after the initial “we received your petition and the fees were waived”. Then one day (16 months later) I received the next update.

They are working on June 2017 currently. Your case is perfectly normal and within processing times.

My lawyer filed my renewal under my I485 at NBC on August. We didn’t file it together with VAWA. How is that going to affect my case?

Now that you have a pending VAWA petition, they will most likely have to transfer your I-765 and I-131 to VSC as the NBC no longer is responsible for you. But they will decide what to do. It should hopefully not delay the process.

Thank you @iwillsurvive! I hope I get my EAD renewal and AP soon coz it just expired this month. Btw, Congratulations on your approval and hope you get your GC very soon! 🙏

Did you file I-765 and I-131with the Vermont Service Center? As a VAWA filer, they are responsible for you.

For I-131 and I-765, their processing times are 3-5 months currently. You are considered outside of processing times if you filed on May 23rd, 2018 or earlier. Anything after that is considerer within normal processing times.

    Hi All,

Please I have a quick question: I submitted I-360, I-485 and I-765 concurrently in September of this year and received biometrics appointment 3 weeks later, is that normal? I haven't received a prima facie though, so I was wondering.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thank You

You can check processing times for all forms here: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Just select the form and then VSC

Biometrics typically happen within 1-2 months after filing. It’s probably one of the fastest appointments they schedule.

Prima Facie typically also gets issued around that timeframe. Keep in mind that USCIS does not send PF to everybody. If you need it because you are in need of public benefits, you can send a letter to VSC requesting PF.

This process requires a lot of patience, so don’t get nervous when things take a little while. It’s normal. I-360 takes 16.5-21 months before they start adjudicating it. Then the local office (depending on the office’s processing times) takes anywhere from 6-18 months after VAWA approval to schedule the AOS interview. Processing times change and get updated every month, so don’t stress about it yet because by the time your petition gets adjudicated processing times will most likely have changed.

If you need to work or travel and have a pending I-485, you can file I-765 under category C09 and I-131.

Please read through this and past VAWA threads to get a good understanding of the process. People always post there timelines, so that helps give some reference.

  17. I have been trying to post my timeline but I get the same error every time that one of my dates is incorrect and that the system doesn’t allow for me to input receipt and notice dates (for I-485, I-765 specifically) that are more than 4 weeks apart. My dates are 6 weeks apart, so the system won’t let me input them. I have filled in the contact/help form twice already over the course of the past year with no response from Visajourney. Please help me post my timeline as it can be valuable to others in this forum.
