  1. i think the embassy does know very well

looking up Ghanian engagement ceremony I find this

Traditional Ghanaian Engagement Ceremony. ... Last Saturday was another great opportunity to learn and understand Rueben and Golda better, when I got to attend their traditional Ghanaian engagementceremony. The thing about this “engagement ceremony” is that, in Ghanian culture, that really means “wedding ceremony”.

That is posted on several internet sites

Good to know.  I want my husband to get it when he finally has his GC.  I got mine 3 years ago before traveling to NZ, and it was well worth it.

I even wondered at the time whether having gone through that benefitted us in any way for our K-1 process......?  As the background checks/vetting would have been done so recently.

I doubt it helped as it was not for the immigrant that the security checks were done

    Congrats!

Global Entry is very worthwhile if you travel once a year internationally and a few times a year domestically as it includes TSA precheck.

Here is Mary's LAX immigration times:   Without Global Entry (but using citizen lane)  Immigration 20 minutes, customs 25 minutes.  With GE, immigration 3 minutes, customs 1 person ahead of her!

We just used it coming back from Montreal, combined with security priority lane,  probably saved an hour skipping all the lines.  I have had it since it started and saved tons of time especially when combined with the APEC card arriving at Pacific destinations.

One other thing is the download Mobile Passport app.  Sometimes those lines are even shorter and it is Free!  I've used it at DFW and JFK.  It is not available everywhere.

The caseload from the shutdown is caught up.  They don't maintain that site very well.

Note:  Green Card Holders can apply for Global Entry or Sentri but not Nexus

    Thank you

i have already looked up and they so interviews right at the Atlanta  airport

i think this is worth it

  4. simple to do an affadivt

    1.  center  a header simply called AFFIDAVIT

    2.  make a sentence stating name,  and state under penalty that i make the following statement to act as my express and official declaration to be honest and forthright.   I am making the statements below reguarding (say what it is you want to prove)

    4.  Make a statement in your own words of what you have witnessed

  5. on top of this and getting the new passport ,  we were both going to get the global entry from TSA

i just looked at the site and saw this

Has anyone done the global entry and know if it is worth it?

The extended partial government shutdown has resulted in a substantial backlog of CBP's Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) applications and renewals.

  6. I am not a foreigner but sometimes feel like it

i moved from the north to the south and the racism here is abundant

one man (in the  grocery store ) started talking to me totally unwanted and the last sentence he said was "they're black you know"

for what reason i don't know

and now with the political unstate we are in,  i can't even believe the comments on facebook (some from my own family)

i just find to ignore and do my thing and just obey GOD and all of us are created equal

I got my cornea transplant when i lost right eye from someone of color so for anyone to talk down infuriates me

all i can suggest is "stay away from those who upset you as much as possible"

    find your own social group

truth is the US is divided into 6 totally different areas and the northeast is nothing like the southwest

and Louisana is not like any of the rest

we are suppose to be a melting pot of different nationalities but i refer to it as a boiling pot

The issue is she could have returned to her country as her authorized stay in Germany ended. While in her country the immigration process could have been completed. Coming to the US without the a visa is not the proper way to do things. Even as two US citizens, when I gave birth in Germany we had to extend our tour to allow time to received the child's passport.

yes,  she could have and as a military dependent ,   she has an allotment

    Oh My....

Did you tell him to smile and be polite in front of the agent?

I ask because I am curious....and I also need to prep my man for his interview...as I realize that in some countries the slightest thing (like smiling?) could be a cause for denial.

I too am older than him...7 years....so that does worry me some--even though HE acts alot older than I do 😊

He is Cuban and I'm Cuban-American living in Atlanta....

I'm so glad I took pictures with his parents and siblings during my last visit--hope that helps.

    I'M SOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!

    yes ,  i said smile

but i have found out since that some embassies take this so serious and the immigrant needs to also be totally serious

photos with family are necessary "in a lot of countries"  as the family has to approve

and your age difference is not that much of a deal / ours was a lot more

    Congratulations!

May I ask what was the reason for the 1st K1 denial?

9 years is a long time. But in the end, love does prevail/win.....

    Best wishes to you both!

Casablanca never gives a reason not even writen on the 221g but i believe it was the age difference

the lady asked "what does your family think of her?"

i had told him to smile and be polite so he did

he said "they loves her" and smiled

she said "you smile ,  you lie/ visa denied"

  10. They are asking for her marriage certificate to see if you are married to your cousin as many in Africa do

immigration has seen many married persons in their country come to the US (married to USC) then divorce the USC and bring the foreign wife here

this is not to judge what you are saying

i am just telling you why the long AP to see if your sister/cousin is only that

so,  make sure she has a valid marriage certificate to another man
