we finally made it
just have to wait now for the oath ceremony
WOW long road 9 years from 1st K1 denial and thru an appeals court to be approved
for those of you going thru a difficult path for your visa process
it is hard to wait
it is heartbreaking to be apart
immigration may at times seem heartless but they have a job clearly spelled out and they need to follow proceedure
stats in the Nashville office Friday said USCIS approves 26,000 applications daily
and 78 adoptions daily
In the end it is all worth it and there is a light at the end of this tunnel
good luck to all

OP wasnt working for an American company and that (irrelevant) link does not apply.
OP should file taxes however
Specific Instructions Line 58 Unreported Social Security and Medicare Tax from Forms 4137 and 8919 Enter the total of any taxes from Form 4137 and Form 8919. Check the appropriate box(es). Form 4137. If you received tips of $20 or more in any month and you didn't report the full amount to your employer, you must pay the social security and Medicare or railroad retirement (RRTA) tax on the unreported tips.

no income whats so ever no tax return required not even medicare or ss payments needed
but even you are reaffirmed without an income of your own, you can be denied again saying looks like the beneficiary could become a public charge
establishing residency is more than being a USC
need to prove where you will live
having a US bank account helps
owning property or having a rental agreement sometimes is asked for

221 g color of the paper?
not keeping the passport is not good so expect to hear in months that the case is returned to the US as this is a K1 and most are denied
If you are lucky and they say come for new interview, it will be months from now (some are still waiting in AP since December 2018)
sorry i am less than comforting but in the 10 years i have been reading VJ, this is what we see
So, hope you have thought about marriage in Morocco and doing a CR1

Doesn’t apply here
applys to all US citizens unless government exempt

When the case is sent to embassy, you will receive instructions for the medical and 2 criminal reports ( a Fiche Anthropometrique and a Casier Judiciaire from the Central Police station at their place of residence.)
at the present time there are 3 drs in Casablanca for the medical
do not do any till told to do these as 1 criminal report is good for only 90 days and the medical exam is good for 6 months (that is the expiration date for the K1 visa)
you will also complete the I 134 and he will do the ds 160
currently the wait time after the case to casa is several months to be able to schedule interview

If you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, the rules for filing income, estate, and gift tax returns and paying estimated tax are generally the same whether you are in the United States or abroad. Your worldwide income is subject to U.S. income tax, regardless of where you reside.
from the IRS site below:
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/us-citizens-and-resident-aliens-abroad
from the following IRS site also is this:
When Social Security and Medicare Taxes Apply Outside of the United States
In general, U.S. social security and Medicare taxes continue to apply to wages for services you perform as an employee outside of the United States if one of the following applies:
your USC friend needs to look at the IRS information and file all tax returns for the years worked outside the US/ there is a tax exempt from federal taxes but she will owe as said above into Social security and medicare (the amount will be according to the tables on tax instructions
she will be the primary sponsor and can use parents as cosponsor

i flew from JFK to Casa on Royal Air Moroc
waited for 8 hours for the plane to get to JFK / no one at the desk to say what the delay was and then they changed the gate without telling passengers
not very many comforts on the plane like a personal TV but it was only 10 hour direct
-
there is an exclusion for well over $100,000 for federal taxes (foreign tax credit )
However USC is still responsible for paying into SS and medicare
read IRS site

for you own records
a birth certificate
shot records
criminal report if needed for the marriage license in that state
school / college transcripts
resume or list of employers with dates of work so you can do a resume later after EAD
BTW congratulations you'll love the beautiful state of Washington

It’s been frustrating. I know a Moroccan Woman who’s fiancé is Moroccan (In America) and she got an interview after waiting 2 weeks. They called her and let her know that there were some couples who had split up and asked if she wanted to take their place in line.
then she was in luck
and i am sure one of the things Casa does it is string some interviews out (sometimes with a denial to see how far the couple will go) just to see who will break up
when adil interviewed and i waited outside with another Florida woman (VJ member) she divorced him after her Rachid was denied/ said she just could not afford to go any further

i know that going thru this process terrified me at times
Here we are told over and over , don't give out personal info, ss # and now,we have to disclose all to immigration
sending financial and everything about our very private lives thru emails, the post office, etc felt like a real invasion to me
but yes, immigration is concerned for security reasons not just your personal life but your business life
who you do business with or who tries to do business with you (even if not known by you)
any of these sites that are connected to a cell phone are easily seen when you have to give cell phone # to immigration on applications
don't leave anything off thinking it is not important
they ask for social media used , / they want to see social media used
i would say if you really have any questions about that call the local DHS number and ask

I 130 in CSC or vermont?

not at all surprised as Nebraska has been the slowest for years
did you see the post (under mine for stats) that a k1 case sent to casa January 11 finally got a July interview date?

are you talking about your petition approval or your visa approval? Did you have your interview yet?
they applied 10 months ago and the spouse is only a green card holder
it will not process for 2 years
-
so, with no timeline how far into the process are you?
have you actually applied ?
are you waiting for an interview soon?
you can file the I 134 for support with supporting letter of employment from work if you do not have the previous years tax returns to show
but if just getting started now, the interview will not be till 2010 so could use tax returns
you need to know the poverty guidelines so check the charts as we do not know graduate from where???? high school or college???
let the VJ community know a little more about the stage of this process you are in and your query will be answered better
