Its pretty good on K1 if the petioner is there the ods are better.
I went in august there were several k1 with me that day. All approved. No afdavit requested.
One petioner was like 45 her fiancee 28 and also a male petioner her was 38 fiancee 19/20
They asked us how we met, who proposed to whom, and when we were getting married.
Me in english he in spanish.

What I have learned about people who are new to the process is that the first thing they are interested in is time (or speed of getting visa). Overall cost, from beginning to end, is a distant afterthought..

Their have some Filipino/Filipina's who ask 3-4 questions each at a couple different window stations first before the interview itself takes place. They gather some basic information and "check for consistency" basically so the CO has a good idea when he looks briefly at the file before the interview itself. Sometimes they just ask questions... sometimes they ask for other documentation.. some embassies are a bit random on this process(Manila especially as they don't ask for a lot of your supporting evidence sometimes)
And when you book an interview at 8am..... so do like 20-30 other people.... Everyone goes at like 7am and then stands in line... It's just a generic "time slot". Pretty sure thats the same at all embassies.
As to the interview, thats strictly at the discretion of the CO... so if there was complications for your fiance when talking initially so some of the Thai staff, the CO could see the discrepancies immediately from them and what was in your original packet that they review right before hand.
Most of what you said is pretty much standard routine for most interview processes. Sorry that the staff seemed to be rude though, that is not very professional of them; but everything else seems pretty standard practice in US embassies.

Sorry you had a bad day at the embassy. However that is how most of the interviews are. You walk up to the window and that's where they ask questions and also they have a person who take the papers first and also might ask some questions.
Just be happy it's not a denial I know it's had to take in right now but just gather the paper quickly and get it sent to them.

Why dont VJ members ignore questions that they don't want to answer? What is to be gained from being condescending and belittling someone? This is people's real lives and we must remember that this process can cause a lot of anxiety and sometimes what may seem obvious isn't always so. Maybe people do not read so well or so well in English and have difficulty interpreting what is being written so they want clarification or a second opinion. In my life I have learned that the only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked. Especially when EVERYTHING asked on VJ can be searched except for specific questions to individual cases.

I got warning and banned for days for pointing out the obvious, because my calling out is deemed as abusive behavior and prevent others from enjoying the forum (which is very subjective).
So it is best to ignore posts which rile you.

I would marry and try the waiver.
no one can say it wont be approved.
you will go the CR1 route she will be denied then you can file your waiver.
it will take sometime but I would at least try if you really want to be together.

A signature is a signature her printed name shouldnt be an initial. From what i have read as long as its always the exact same no issue the difference between signature and printed name is...the signature is a way to verify if the person is the same by their hancock

I said if the k1 is denied. There is a process they can do which is marry and direct file at the embassy.
I dont know if this is whats best for him or not but I told him an option not that he needed to do what I said. He asked for advice and in my minimal immigration knowledge let him know another route.
This person is an adult and if he so to chooses to join his life to someone it will be a free country he is moving to and he may do so

If you cant find the annoulment papers could you use her death certificate? Since you only have to prove free to marry
