Thank everyone that have provided answer that might help the OP. Let me quickly say that it is not our job to presume this couple's situation or adjudicate their case. Not everyone case is the same, not everyone are tech or internet savvy, even if they are not everyone have time or understand the usefulness of a community like this. For example my wife never used this app to ask questions or resolve her concerns though I asked her to create an account, we eventually started using the same account. So in summary we are here to provide support to each other.

To the OP question, like many previous response, more context is needed to give you answers that will be more useful to you. Like at what stage are you in your petition? I am not familiar with CR1 interview in Nigeria but I am sure like many have said it is difficult place to be interviewed. There are somethings that are good to have but not necessarily a requirement, a CR1 interview, some of these are ITIN for taxes, children, documents that have you and your spouse names, joint bank/credit account or joint insurance benefits. This is because you don't live in the US yet. Consular officers understand this, they only start asking for these extra documents when they suspect fraud and they are trying double check/cross their T's and giving you the opportunity to prove them wrong. Again note that you still need to prove bonafide marriage, other thoughtful member here have mentioned some of  these documents or how to find what you need. Lastly, on your question whether or not you need an affidavit, if your application is still pre NVC stage(that is, have not been approved in the US yet), then it is probably useful to add affidavit not just from your family/friends but also from your spouse family and friends, otherwise I personally think it useless at embassy interview stage.

In summary, a bonafide marraige is not difficult to prove because it have all the elements of a bonafide marriage. Marriage is important in Nigeria again the Consular officers understand this too. You will need to show that during your CR1 interview. good luck !

Your spouse will be the one filing the petition, not you. So she needs to create an account here and ask questions.

You will need a lot of time spent together, and evidence of that: boarding passes, passport stamps, pictures, etc.

Affidavits of friends are very weak evidence; in many countries anyone would be willing to write an affidavit, especially for a small fee.

It would help a lot if we knew where, in the process, the OP's case is.

looks like you have some homework to do,
    First read the guide

Then you can search the forum and see plenty of previous threads on evidence and bonafide marriage.
Most people don't live together so they don't have things with both of their names on it.

an affidavit will have 0 value, especially from nigeria.

people can only help you if you want to be helped, there's a lot of very experienced people here, listen and learn.

Had my Combo interview today (Minneapolis,MN Office). Lasted for about 30 minutes. Wife was interviewed first for about 5 minutes, then interview took the rest of the time. I was approved.
I was asked at least 6 Civic questions(I was surprised he went that far, but all good since I prepared for it). The officer said I should be part of the next Ceremony (in June). So the last wait begins. Good luck to all that are still waiting for both biometric or/and interview appointments.

Mine also states it's down due to maintenance but this morning while reading that message a new message appeared on my site.  The message dated April 24, 2021 stated that an appointment for biometrics has been made for me.  And much to my surprise the letter about biometrics also stated that my appointment is for May 17, 2021.  Evidently, in spite of the site not working well due to maintenance, they are still making and posting appointments. I hope I become a citizen by July 3 so that my July 4 celebration will be extra special.

I also tried calling but wasn't able to reach a human. But I put in a request last month through my online portal and got a reply today. No update yet on my case status though but hopeful that will happen soon.

Pretty straight forward on how send a request, but for those that don't know. Click on  My Account --> Inbox then click on New Message. See screenshot below

I used Ask Emma. I typed "Live Chat", and then it gives me the options of "case status", then I select biometrics. Finally it then shows the link to connect to a representative. And then I chat with them asking about case status.
Depending on where your ASC is, you may need to wait a few more days. Baltimore opened on 7/20, so 90 days is 18 October....

So I have just completed my interview, and asked the interviewer explicitly about the 3 / 5 years worth of history in the application. He said that one's expected to fill out the forms according to their statutory period (3 years history back for 3 year rule filers). So all good, had no issues whatsoever.

We are adding this to our cover letter
Enclosed please find my N-400 Application for Naturalization. I am applying based on three years as a lawful permanent resident married to my U.S. Citizen spouse. Responses on the N-400 form represent my three years as an LPR in the United States.

This will not be an issue as long as the marriage was entered into in good faith. Good Luck.

jealob reacted to carmel34 in Taxes show single instead of married. About to start CEAC process. Help!
Just file an amended 2018 tax return tomorrow as married filing separately, and upload a copy to CEAC website with your W2.  Put NRA (non resident alien) where it asks for your wife's SSN.  Filing as married jointly requires a W7 and verification of your wife's identity which could slow down the filing of the amended return.  You can do that later after she arrives in the US and has a SSN and most likely get a larger refund.  Good luck with the NVC stage of this long process!

My wife sent our package to Chiacgo Office, all the time it says; "delivered to an agent" and 100% of the time was delivered to the right person. No need to worry friend. You will get notification in due time. Cheers
