T_McCann got a reaction from Wendy427 in US Visa Medical - Dr Charles Ogralik
    Hi Guys,
I had my Visa Medical today in Melbourne, just thought I would share it with you...
I head to reception to check in and she asks for the passport photos. I then take a seat. (It was a really busy morning). I'm called in by the nurse who is really polite and friendly. She takes my height, BP and weight. We have a bit of a chat and then she does an eye test (You basically stand at a distance and read the letters of an eye chart).
The nurse directs me to a Doctors office and says Charles won't be too long. Dr Ogralik comes in and introduces himself. He is very formal and straight to the point, but not in a nasty way. He does a passport check and asks a few questions regarding address and contact number etc.
He then asks about general health questions, any family (hereditary) issues, how many times I've been hospitalised. He also asked a lot of questions regarding mental health (I thought it was a lot of questions) and a lot of questions regarding heart problems (Possibly because I had a murmur when I was younger).
He does the general throat check, temperature check and and gets his stethoscope out.
This is the fun part (Not).... I lied down on the bed in my underwear and he hid all the pokes and pulls and twists (Im guessing to make sure I don't have any lumps, bumps, bruises or rashes) and he didn't seem concerned or worried about anything just told me to lose a bit of weight as it would help to lower my BP (Mind you I'm big and broad with size 13 feet but not fat or obese).
He went over vaccinations and I had to get a booster. Dr Ogralik made small talk, was polite and very straight to the point.
In the same building is dorevitch pathology (the guys that take blood and wear the green shirts.) The lady was very professional and took blood swiftly and I didn't feel a single thing. She then presented me with a cup and said a urine test is required.
That was all done and I proceeded to reception to pay $605 AUD. With my receipt and another form, you have to go to MIA imaging to get the chest X-ray in Malvern... it took about 30 mins to get to on foot, but the X-ray is all done in less than 30 seconds, literally. Its just one picture.
I hope this helps and good luck to all of you

Visiting the USA is a privilege that the government bestowed upon you. The fact that you could visit for 90 days without a visa is another privilege that was bestowed upon you by the government. Many other countries are not so lucky or privileged. You abused at least one privilege so that privilege had been withdrawn from you. It's not about breaking laws, it's about breaking the "agreement" that you made with the government when you entered the country using the VWP. You're lucky the USA allows visitors to adjust status - many other places don't.

You didn't successfully adjust so you overstayed and were in breach of the provisions of the VWP. End of story. That's why AOS from VWP always carries a risk. If, for whatever reason, you don't complete the process or it's denied you are an overstayer and subject to removal. And csn no longer use the VWP.

There are no rights when it comes to immigration. Just privileges and benefits.

If you are OK with being seperated for 2 years then that is a great idea:/

seriously, you knew when you filed for the K1 it is conditional on her getting married and doing the AOS! if she leaves now you are in a (edited for language) situation! i would not reccommend having her leave.. it sucks for sure, their are families apart for funerals, weddings, and other important celebrations. its life.  so if you are ok with having her go back and spending MORE money on the CR1 visa that will take 2 years then ok.  but if you want, apply for her AOS yesterday and in 3-4 months she will have her AP (and can possibly get an emergency AP).

Honestly in my own personal opinion, this is a measure that was needed. Any sort of immigration needs to have proper scrutiny applied and make sure it the individual(s) are thoroughly vetted. Look at what is happening in Europe right now, a lot of that has had to do with their open border like policies. Not everything happened from a 'first generation' immigrant family, sometimes it actually was the second generation that caused trouble/violence. No system is perfect and there is no way to predict the future naturally; but something needed to change.

And by the way, you only get distracted by tweets if you bother to pay attention to them. Otherwise it generally is just a lot of President bashing done by the media from what I see.

    Hi Katie,

My partner and I looked into this and Emily is absolutely correct. It's a lot more expensive coming to Australia than moving to the USA. The main application form for Australia is 70 pages long (I'm not kidding).

i moved to the USA on K1 and it took 5 months. Very easy straightforward and affordable.

It costs alot more and it takes longer than a K1.  I had a friend go through this process and it - all up, including ancillary costs - cost her around $10,000 and nearly two years for her fiance to be approved.

Australian bureaucracy doesn't come cheap or fast.

Looked at timeline, from the spacing of the time from biometrics they either sent you an interview date and you didn't get it or they sent an rfe and you didn't get it.

did you move at all after filing?

Yeah I had an interview, loads applying when I did were getting the dreaded interview waiver letter and it was taking them up to a year to get the green card. I purposely only sent in the minimum documentation to get the aos accepted in the hopes of getting an interview as they were happening quicker. I didn't send much proof of relationship, just the marriage cert and a couple of photos of the ceremony. It worked or I was slated for an interview anyway. Took a lot more evidence to the interview including insurance and rental agreement stuff.

T_McCann reacted to JFH in Divorce after before temporary green card interview on K1 visa
You haven't said anything about wanting to work on making a success of the marriage. If my husband said he "wasn't interested" anymore I'd be distraught and would do anything to get the marriage back on track. Have you tried counseling? Have you suggested she try some anger management therapy if she has a temper? It seems you are expecting her to file a divorce but you don't seem too desperate to stay married to her.

She has been through a very stressful time too. You gave up your career but she has also been through some huge emotional transitions in her life recently. She's a career woman and I imagine she lived a very independent life before you arrived. Now she's sharing her space with someone who doesn't work, she's working for the two of you, she spent a lot money and went through a lot of stress to get you here. What do you do for her? Marriage is not a bed of roses. It takes work. A lot of hard work.

Maybe he figured out that you were only looking for a way to get to the USA. Most people would be looking to save their relationship not apply for another visa to get here.

Well, you can't change his mind or his decision. If he decided that he doesn't want to talk to or live with you anymore for whatever reason then you have to accept it. Sure the way he acts is not nice at all but if that's what he decided then you cannot change it.

I'm sure he has his reasons to act like that. But you can't force him to talk to you if he doesn't want to.People change, feelings can change.

You said in one of your previous posts that you want to study in the US. Maybe be realized that you only want to move to the US for studying but not to live with him.

Well you don't need a job to do K-1, but you do need a joint sponsor.

It's possible that he feels that you are more focused on moving to the US to move to the US, instead of moving to the US to be with him. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he felt he was being used, you said he changed his mind on marriage, you're calling him selfish to do so, but he's within his full right to change his mind.

Also immigration is not a right, it's a privileged, so if for some reason ya'll got married in a future date, it doesn't mean that ya'll would both have to live in the US. He could just say, no thanks I want to live in my spouses home country and then ya'll never come back to the US.

With that said, if he's not talking to it, it sounds like this relationship may be in very much danger and if you're so intent on coming into the US you may need to find another path and do it without using anyone elses means other than your own to avoid this situation.
