Hello fellow February 2017 K1 filer, good to see you here now too!  :-)

Small update on our case today, just logged into my bank account and saw that the check has been cashed...bye bye $1225    At least hopeful that the check being cashed is a good first sign that our packet included the right forms and fees.  Now just waiting for NOA1.

I was surprised too at the amount of work to get this packet done.  It was certainly less than the K-1 but not by much in our case.  I'm just glad our packet is in USCIS's hands now and I don't have to fret over every little check box anymore :-)

Good to see familiar faces in here.

We sent off our package today...1 minute before Fedex was closing! I am amazed at how much it took us to put the packet together and thank god my husband is  persistent in terms of filing papers. We decided to put in extra documents though -maybe that's what ate our time...Well, I breathe a sigh of relief and hope all of us are going to have a smooth process

    Hi everyone!
Hope you all are doing fine and positive about upcoming steps with AOS process.

We've sent our package on January 26th and on February 07th at night (around 0:20) I received e-notification saying that all petitions have been accepted and received by USCIS.
Awaiting for mail with NOA within 7-10 days.

    Good luck to everyone!

So happy to hear that everything worked out for you!  It's going to be an adjustment for everyone, not just for him but also for you having him here all the time.

For us, things are going well.  Yesterday we finally finished everything for the AOS process.  So, to answer your question, yes, the $1140 covers the cost of the EAD and Travel card if you submit at the same time.  I think you can also submit those applications afterward at no cost as long as you show that you are in the process of the I-485 AOS when you submit those applications but we just sent it all in the same packet.  Also, don't forget to include the $85 for the Biometrics fee.

We had a bit of a scare where it looked like my partner was going to need to leave the states before completing AOS due to some family issues back in Europe.  I was more than a little freaked out about thinking about going through the Spouse Visa process and having that take 12-14 months.  Luckily we were able to get some things resolved from here, at least enough so we can wait for him to get his green card, and then he'll leave for a few months to wrap things up and then come back to the states.  It will be hard to not have him here for a few months but better only a few months than a year+ going through the Spousal Visa process.

Also, a bit of advice for anyone who finds this thread, if your partner is missing any vaccinations, have them done either before the K1 medical exam or at the medical exam itself.  We had thought it would be simple enough for my partner to get his vaccinations and an updated I-693 completed once here but it turned into a whole ordeal.  Unfortunately the documentation for an updated vaccination report can only be completed by a Civil Surgeon and it seems like the Civil Surgeons aren't properly informed or are trying to make a buck/commit fraud.  When I called the Civil Surgeon in my city to say we needed the updated vaccination report, they told me that my partner needed a full physical at a cost of $500.  I tried to explain to them how it works for a K1, even pointing out the pages on the form and instructions that talked about K1 applicants, and they flat out refused without a full physical and $500.  I then called the next closest Civil Surgeon, about 40 minutes away, and they tried to pull the same thing.  The next Civil Surgeon I called, who was listed on USCIS's website, stated that they don't do the I-693 anymore.  Finally, the fourth one I called, whose office is about 2 hours away, stated they could do it, understood the process, and it would only be $95.

So, yesterday, we made the trek, got to the doctor's office, and then the doctor started to freak out.  He was asking where our letter from USICS was stating he needed updated vaccination records, where the full copy of the previously completed medical was, etc. etc.  I tried to calmly explain the process to him and he finally said "Okay, I'll do this the way that you want but I am going to write a letter that explains your request so they don't think I'm stupid for leaving all these pages blank.  Also, if this gets returned, know that it's your fault".  So, he reviewed the vaccination reports, the ones my partner previously had and the new ones that he got here, and then he insisted that he needed another vaccination.  He then sent us to another office about 10 minutes away to get that done, had to wait on them since we just showed up, and then had to go back to finish up the paperwork.  So, an appointment that should have been about 15 minutes turned into an hour and a half after which we had another 2 hour drive back home.  Luckily we made it back in time for a quick final double check of everything and a run to FedEx.  Our AOS package should be delivered to Chicago today and now we begin the next round of waiting.  I'm not sure about everyone else but my AOS package was only slightly smaller than our K1 package but I think that's because I provided extra items to avoid missing anything/RFEs.  Just not looking forward to that $1225 check clearing and the next waiting game :-)

Just went through this as well, finally found a CS who kind of knew what he was doing about a 2 hour drive away.  The CS in my city wanted to charge $500 for a new physical!  I tried many different routes with each CS I called, some asking for help, some asking them to open the instructions and the sheet so they could read the rules, etc. etc. but the only luck I had was to keep calling until I found a CS that knew the rules.  Ultimately, now, I wish my partner had just done them as a part of the medical and will encourage anyone going through this process to get it done then, before arriving, because it's a pain to try to get it taken care of after.

    1. Technically he would have an overstay, but it's not a long time, so should be ok. However, if he can leave before it expires it would help. You do know if you file AOS you can get advanced parole within 3 months or so just a thought.

    2. Shouldn't be an issue, you'll discuss it at the interview anyway.

    3. It's an estimate, but yes it's around 10 to 14 months on average.

    4. Shouldn't be a problem it happens. Just be prepared to be asked about it.

Successful POE in Chicago yesterday although it was a bit odd.  They were making all US Citizens, and those who had been to the states before, go through the APC lines.  When I asked if I could go through the first time line with my fiance, I was told only if I filled out the long form landing card.  So, I just pulled out the Mobile Passport App and went through that line quickly while my fiance stood in line.  By the time I finished, he was finally called to the window.  He said the guy asked him for his passport, then asked for the envelope from the embassy, took his photo and fingerprints, and didn't say another word to him while he was processing the paperwork, not even to ask any questions.  For a bit, I was standing off to the side watching this happen while I waited but then someone from security told me that I couldn't wait near where he was and I had to back up to the baggage claim area since I had already been processed.  After waiting and watching there for another few minutes, the CBP officer got up from his station and led my fiance to secondary screening.  At this point I was starting to freak out a bit but did my best to remain calm.  I decided to go ahead and get our bags and wait.  And then I waited some more.  Finally after waiting about 20 minutes, my fiance came out at which point he decided to play what he thought was a funny, but cruel too, joke.  His first words to me were "I have to go back to England".  I was utterly dumbfounded and I screamed "WHAT?!?" and he said "Not all the paperwork was in the envelope, some type of police certification was missing"  and I said "You have got to be kidding me!  What is going on?  Who can I speak to?".  At this point he could tell I was about to burst into tears and he said "Just kidding, let's go home" at which point I wanted to strangle him so badly for the poor joke but was also relived that he was just joking.  After I calmed down a bit we made our way outside and I asked what happened in secondary inspection.  He said that they told him to sit down, he waited and waited, they called his name, gave him back his stamped landing card and passport and then said "Have a nice day".  So no questions from either the first CBP agent or in secondary screening, just a lot of waiting.

After a 3 hour drive from Chicago (screw rush hour traffic!), we finally made it home, relaxed a bit, and then crashed from a long day of travel.  Today we've been relaxing a bit but also getting some things done to start his life here (got him signed up for a gym, got his bus pass, did some shopping), so day 1 of living together for the rest of our lives is almost over and has been great!
