  1. Interview today went well and I’m approved but no timeline for taking the oath since I asked for a name change.

I didn’t have to wait long and the officer was friendly.

    questions asked:

    name one Indian tribe

what is the Highest court …

    presidents party

how many justices in supreme court

    who is the chief justice

    What happened in 9/11

question to read was something about congress

and to write was the people voted for congress or something of the sorts

glad to put this part behind me and crossing fingers that the oath will be closer to home because I drove 3h each way there lol

Lawrence, MA field office and applied under 5 years rule

  2. I feel you.

I tried replying a million times but in the end I don’t really have much to say, as in tips or suggestions or advice, or else I myself would be in a better situation now.

Truth is I’ve been here for 4,5 years and only 90 days ago I got a somewhat good job in a field similar to my educational background in Brazil...

Moving, I knew I’d have to adapt and whatnot but didn’t think it would be as hard as it’s been. Not only did I have to “suck it up” countless times, I felt defeated and worthless... in the end you just gotta do what you gotta do.

I worked retail for over 3 years, something I would’ve never done back in Brazil, but it paid my bills, gave me something to do for myself, ended up with great American references.

You don't file I-130 if you're K1. You're probably thinking about I-131, which is Advance Parole.

Just one fee for the I-485. 131 and 765 are free when filing along with AOS

The best thing you can is research. There's a lot of guides here with all the forms and evidences you need.

Like already said before. I doubt she's gonna have her combo card before April, and she can't travel outside the US without it.

She can travel, the problem is getting back to the US

    Hi guys,

Our case was sent to Nvc yesterday........finally. Just curious about green card cases at rio consulate. Do they mail you your passport with a visa to get in the USA and then you receive your green card in the states, or do they mail you your green card to you address in Brazil before you enter the states?

    thanks for the help.

As already said. You’re applying for a visa, which will be stamped on your passport and endorsed upon entry (i551?), valid for a year, which is proof of permanent residency and acts like the green card.

but to receive the actual green card, you need to pay the immigrant fee after your visa issuance. You’ll most likely get a paper info sheet from the consulate with the steps to take.
Remember to check which address they have on your case file upon entry, as they will use that one to send the green card

  5. I suggest you go to your nearest posto de saúde with your vaccination card in hand and ask them to check if you’re up to date with your shots. This will save time and money going to the medical for the visa. Depending on the doctor, they can request you to take the tdap and flu from a private clinic since those two are not available for free at a posto de saúde.

I highly recommend dra Juliana from Belo Horizonte. You leave her office with your sealed medical in hand, her staff is very helpful and the tests and shots are right by her office without the need to walk long/ taxi.

edit: you can get a dt shot at the posto de saúde but not all the doctors will take that and will make you take the dtap
