  1. Yep. An arrest and detainment would probably just mean more paperwork to obtain at some point in the future.
  2. Excellent point!!!!! Even a current visa number would not allow adjustment of status after entry via VWP (unless Daughter is an immediate relative of a US citizen).
  3. Based on what you posted, the I-485 will be denied. However, there is a possibility the child could adjust status if she is an immediate relative of a US citizen parent.
  4. What was the basis for the Mother to adjust status? How old is the child? Is Mother currently married to a US citizen? Has anyone filed an I-130 for the child? To answer your question in the thread title at face value, the answer is: A family member cannot adjust status through a Green Card holder, until a visa number is available via the visa bulletin. Being inside the US has no relevance.
  5. ***Thread closed per OP request*** Mod Hat off: Correct terminology is important in immigration. Clarifying ambiguous terms is always a good thing, imho, for the person asking a question and for the members who will read this thread in the future.
  6. I think they were generous. I would take advantage of that and leave the US. Consular processing won't be affected. You and your spouse can visit outside the US during the process.
  7. Thanks. Congratulations!!!! My wife said they asked her the 6 easiest ones...LOL.
  8. Local office stats are very important. You are still in the normal processing time for Las Vegas cases (according to USCIS)
  9. Very few I-751s and N-400s are denied. During the quarter ending 3/31/204, only 1 out of every ten non-military N-400s were denied, and only about 1 out of every twenty I-751s were denied by USCIS: quarterly_all_forms_fy2024_q2.xlsx (live.com) If you consider the number of denied cases later appealed or resubmitted successfully, the denial rate is extremely small.
  10. Yes. That is how they select jury pools here in Dallas county. She registered to vote the same day as her oath ceremony in early 2023.
  11. Today, wife received a summons for jury duty in Dallas County, Texas. My research shows that Dallas County has a "one day/one trial" system. If she is not selected for a court by 4:30pm on her first day of service, she will be dismissed. This is very different from my experience (in another state) about 20 years ago. I seem to remember being on standby for 6 months. Anyway, this will be an experience for my wife, the new citizen.
  12. Worst case scenario is that you would have to get a new medical. Hopefully, your visa will be issued soon.
  13. ***Topics merged***Do not restart this topic with a new thread*** You wait until the status changes to "Issued". All cases go through some form of Administrative Processing prior to issue.
  14. It's been only a couple business days. Hopefully, you will get a response soon. Be aware- Do NOT submit an I-130 to USCIS until you get a response from the consulate.
  15. I heard a very nice analysis of this election this morning. The pundit said: "Are Donald Trump's strengths more dangerous than Joe Biden's weaknesses". My opinion is no. Let's face it. Biden has no strengths....none.
  16. Subit the N-400. There is a very decent possibility for a combo interview (or no I-751 interview at all). You could be rid of USCIS by Christmas.
  17. Bringing his mother to the US to live is way down the road several years. He has a lot of other things to consider first. He must become a legal resident, then become a citizen before he can petitioner her.
  18. **Two threads concerning OP case have been merged***
