Great. Even for translation I did all myself and attached a letter attesting that what I translated from Bahasa to English is correct and to the best of my ability. I did not have any issue.

good luck. What you’re going through is only the beginning of the k1 journey. It’ll be long and winding but be patient. And this forum always offer the best solutions.

    God Luck.

    Hey there,

Unless they revise the police record requirement since 2017, I don’t believe US embassy require you to get a police record / clearance from certain countries and Indonesia is included in this list. Not sure why, probably because you can easily pay a fee for such record without anyone having to actually check it thoroughly.

i didn’t submit any police record from Indonesia, I lived there until the age of 18, and then again between the age 23-25. check the visa requirement from the us embassy website or contact the jakarta embassy.

    Best of luck!!

    Hello All,
Yesterday I attended my N400 interview (filed online Sept 2020) at the Federal Building in DTLA (while my i751 was still pending; filed Sept 2019; WAC case number). Turns out it was a combo interview. Long story short, after approx. 2 hours total my case was approved. I'm scheduled for an oath ceremony next week. Good luck for all WAC case numbers.

    Dear All,

Today I attended my N400 interview. It's been a long journey for my husband and myself and we're happy that it's now done and dusted. I got approved!! It was a mixed feeling of relieved and disbelieved. Here's the detail that hopefully help some of you who are preparing for a N400 Interview.

    Here's a brief timeline:
    September 2019 - Submitted I751
    September 2020 - Submitted N400 (with I751 currently pending)
    April 2021 - Interview Scheduled
    May 2021 - Attended N400 interview

It was my understanding that I would only be interviewed for my N-400 application as what written on the notice. After reading posts here and there I conclude that I'm the only person required to attend the interview. But on the side of cautions I wrote to USCIS through the My.USCIS.gov portal on May 9, confirming that my husband is not required to attend the interview. I received a response on the evening May 20, one day before my actual interview, stating that I'm the only person required to attend the interview.

Fast forward to this morning. After waiting for approx. 30-45 minutes they finally called my name. The agent proceed to asked me "Where is your spouse?" I explained that he's currently in a hospital for a heart surgery. The agent was clearly not pleased with my answer. He proceed to tell me that I have an open application (i-751 pending and n-400) so my spouse is required to attend the interview. It was like a 100 punch in my stomach. I went on to explain that I wrote in the USCIS portal regarding who is required to attend the interview and received a respand yada-yada yada... The agent was still NOT pleased... I was sh!ting bricks by this time.

Long story short, my interview was a tough one. I was grilled for 30  minutes. At the end of the interview he asked if I had anything to add before we move on, I took this as a license to kill. I pour my heart out about my husband and my relationship, our life, and our journey. By the end of my speech my head hurts. I was emotional & was imagining the worst possible outcome. The agent finally said that he will give me 5 minute to collect myself before moving on to the N400 interview. I went to the bathroom and washed my face. Man, I was wrecked. The agent invited me back to the interview room, and he kind of apologize about the grilling, he's making sure that my case was legit and true per my application. I told him I understand.

My N400 interview on the other hand was such a breeze. The 6 civic questions, writing, and reading tests were EASY! The yes/no question was tedious, stressful but easy.

The agent then asked if I'd like to change my name, I said no. He asked me to check my name / details on a iPad all was correct. He then excused himself to get some stuff. I was sitting there alone, I felt like I just received a death sentence. The agent returned, typed some stuff on his computer, looked at me and said, "I'm going to approve your case." I died..... I was in such disbelief... I started to get teary eyed. I told him I'm sorry for being so emotional.

He then printed my oath ceremony notice while I collect my belonging. I met him outside his office, he passed me the notice, explained what I should do, congratulated me, gave me an elbow shake / elbow bump, and he wished me the best for my husband.

Moral of the story, if you have a pending I-751 and are summoned for N400 interview based on marriage to a US citizen, bring your spouse with you. You both should take a day off of work and celebrate (safely) after.

I'm coming back to the building for my oath ceremony next week. I'm sorry if there's something in this post that is unclear, I'm still in a daze.

Good luck everyone. Have a safe and healthy Spring/Summer.

the easier way to make the name change is thru your naturalization process in 3 years (minus 90 days) from you 2/ 21 entry
u can ask for the name change on the application papers and  immigration will do so
then do the SS card ,  the driving license ,  and get your US passport
  6. Thanks

K1 expires when person enters the country and person can not leave and reenter
yes ,  there is 90 days to marry
you should also use the I 94  before the 90 day expiration to apply for SS #

I'm writing this post to hopefully inform applicants who will be attending their Oath Ceremony at the Federal Building's Courtyard in Downtown Los Angeles, CA.

    ARRIVAL
My appointment was at 9am, but I arrived at the venue at approximately 8:30am. Instead of entering the building, as you would if you're coming in for an interview, you should go immediately to the Courtyard in the back of the Federal Building. Apparently oath ceremony started early, I think 8am? So there were already quite a bit of queue when I arrived. There will be an agent / officer that would go up and down the queue calling specific applicant names. Those whose names were called will have to follow said agent and correct/confirm something with their application (i.e. typo/changes in name, DoB, gender, photos etc.) If your name is not being called you are fine, just stay in the queue. On the off chance that you missed the announced names, the agent who will later on verify your documents will inform you. Also if you did not receive any email or a phone call from USCIS between your final interview and oath ceremony you're most likely not on the "naughty list". No need to worry.

    ATTENDANCE
In the interview notice it was written that only the people being sworn in will be granted access into the building but apparently a lot of people bring their families and at least a plus one to their ceremony. The whole thing was outdoor, everyone was masked and kept 6 feet away form each other. I'm assuming majority, if not all, of them were vaccinated. So I am not worried. The whole thing was very relax and easy, breezy, beautiful #CoverGirl
While I was queueing there was a family of 6 in front of me (mother, father and 4 children, and only the father was being sworn in, I met him during my interview). So I guess if you want to bring your loved one(s) you can, but DO NOT quote me on that, I was just writing of what I see this morning. Please note that USCIS is not providing any 'waiting area' so if your plus one(s) need any special accommodation you are responsible to provide it to them. They may be able to sit on the garden side while you're in the queue but it'd limited space and you'd be under the sun. Also don't let your child(ren) run around or scream about, this is not a school yard.

    ATTIRE
Everyone was pretty casual / smart casual. I was wearing my favourite jacket and dress pants. I think of it as if I'm going to attend the wedding of my favourite cousin or my best friend. But if you can't find the 'even' to dress up or do anything special, there were a lot of people in polo shirts and jeans, or a shirt and jeans. Again, the whole thing was easy, breezy, beautiful #CoverGirl
If you want to wear a traditional attire you can, but be warned that you'd be standing outside and 80% of it you'd be under the sun.

    OATH TAKING
The actual ceremony happened VERY quickly, they'll verify your Notice for time and date, ask you to hand over any expired/current green card or other USCIS issued form of ID / permit, and then check your page 4 of oath notice (the one with yes/no questions), and then they hand you the "Welcome to America" white envelope and a US flag. They will point you to the area of courtyard where you'd be sworn in. Following the Oath, they'll point you to another table where you'd get your Certificate of Naturalization. Be sure to check your name, DoB, and country of birth. After verifying your details you're pretty much done. You can take a photo with your certificate in a designated area, between two American flags.

I left the venue at approximately 9:45am.

CLOSING: Good luck and congratulations to everyone.

    Hello,
Bring whatever documents you submitted along with the N400 form. If you submitted copies, bring the original to the interview. Also bring updated / most recent version of submitted documents (i.e. most recent tax, photos, etc.) when applicable.
Since your I751 was approved i don't think you need to bring anything related to it, but on the side of caution I would bring a copy of whatever submitted for I751.
I had a combo interview in LA, I was only asked if I have any additional documents during my I751 portion of the interview. My N400 was VERY easy and smooth. I was only asked the 6 civic questions, reading/writing test, the yes/no question, confirm the ID/contact detail, read the oath and that's it.
    Good luck! You're almost done!

J/G reacted to Gingerspike in N-400 Interview & Email Notice Questions
Hello J/G! I will answer what I can based on what the officer told me yesterday since we both have i-751 pending but called for an N400 interview. See my answers in purple text.

Today, April 13, 2021 at 4am, I received an email from no-reply(at)uscis(dot)dhs(dot)gov stating that, "We have taken an action on your case and it needs your attention. Sign in to your account to view your case status and additional steps you need to take," when I logged in to my USCIS and DHS USCIS accounts I don't see anything changed from yesterday. Even as current as I type this post, I do not see anything changed on my status. My I-751 have been on "Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction" per 12 October 2020; my N-400 is "Interview Was Scheduled" per 12 April 2021. Was this a glitch in the system? or the email I received on the 13 April was referring to the status change to Interview has been scheduled notice I received on 12 April? I was afraid that this was an RFE notice, but nothing seems to change on my accounts. Any thoughts? - It is probably for the "email I received on the 13 April was referring to the status change to Interview has been scheduled notice I received on 12 April." We have the same status as of current for both N400 and i-751.

Initially we were planning to attend the interview together but if he's just there to wait in the lobby I feel bad for him. Would it be an absolute requirement for him to be present with me or can he stay home while I attend my interview? Who should I contact to give me the most reliable advise on this?  - When I received my N400 notice but nothing for i-751, I contacted USCIS through the email system in the MyUSCIS account asking if I should bring my husband for the interview since I have a pending i-751 and would like to clarify if it's a combo interview. I received a call from them a week later saying that my letter is for N400 only and I will be the one who needs to show up in the interview. I still asked if I can bring my husband just in case and they said it is up to me but the notice is that I am only called for an N400 interview. It is really up to the officer who will conduct the interview if she will do a combo or not. When the officer called me yesterday and she told my husband he is not needed, once in the office, she told me that it was the usual protocol to bring the spouses during a combo interview but since it is the pandemic and they are short staffed plus I already brought updated documents with me and provided it to her yesterday, my i-751 will be reviewed as is. Since your husband has a medical condition making him at risk, I don't think he is needed tomorrow but tell officer that when they looked for him.

When I attend my interview should I bring everything I submitted for my I751 or only things that are listed in my interview notice for N400, which I have yet to receive in the mail? Any advise? Should I mention to my IO that I have a pending I751? - You can actually see the notice already and the interview schedule in your myUSCIS account while waiting for the physicial NOA to arrive in mail. The officer already knew your case prior to seeing you but I still told her beforehand since I have my husband with me. In your case I suggest inform him that you do have a pending i-751 but your husband is at home with a medical risk for him to join you. Since you are only being called for N400, I think it will not be a big deal but make sure to bring updated documents with you after the time you filed your N400 plus the list of items in your N400 notice. The officer asked me yesterday if I have updated joint bank accounts, lease, car insurance, etc. I gave her those plus a couple printed pictures. She was happy and appreciate it because it is expected from applicants like us to bring updated documents when we have pending i-751. She even said people don't even read the i-751 notice, only the N400.

I read that some people was able to do N400 interview, oath ceremony, register to vote and US passport in the same day. Would I be able to do this in Los Angeles office? If so how do I proceed? Or did I misread this information? - I was half expecting that yesterday too but what I noticed in LA office for purely N400 applicants only is that they make them return a week after for the oath. Officer told me they do oath talking every Tuesday and Thursday. However, given I have a pending i-751, she told me it might take time for me to receive the oath notice in the mail as they will review my file "as is" because of shortstaffing. According to my myuscis account, it will take 7 months for me to receive final word. I hope it will be earlier.

Good luck on your interview and hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

Definitely! I had my N400 interview earlier pending i-751 application. I passed the exam and interview but needed to wait for the i-751 to adjudicate. She said it may take a while but I am not worried that it will get denied.

    Dear All,

My husband (USC Spouse) have been through a tough time with his health in last 2 years. He had a stroke and the recovery was "hell" for him, to say the least. He's been through the wringer and last night he has to be admitted to ER with high blood pressure and very low O2 level in his blood, non-covid related both of us has been vaccinated. I'm am so heartbroken and devastated. We've been together for 10 years (married for 4 years this June 2021) and we spent 24/7 together since the day we met. And now I can even be in the same building.

As much as I have a positive outlook and wishes, I have to be realistic with his health, he is in so much pain and discomfort. Worst case scenario is that he does not make it. I'm 100% set to stay in the US. I have nothing to go back to, everything I know about life is here in the US, this is our home, my home. so leaving is absolutely not an option.

Should he passed, is there anything I need to do in regards of my I-751 (filed Sept 2019) and N-400 (filed Sept 2020) applications?  How will this affect my legal status / citizenship?  Has anyone been in similar situation? Any advice to share with me?
This forum has been a god sent, thank you for reading and I hope someone will be able to point me to the right direction. Thank you.

    Stay safe & healthy everyone.

    Best,
    J/G
