RB&CB reacted to bakphx1 in Port of entry
No one will ask for your x-rays.
The famous "do not open" packet is it.
Visa is in your passport. Airlines are good at knowing what you'll need and check before you board.

Greetings!
As far as I could remember these are all that they needed and I am not so sure if I-94 is still needed, as it used to be handed by flight attendants prior to arrival that must be filled out.
1. Passport with visa attached. ( PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL NAMES, AGE ETC. ARE CORRECT ONCE VISA IS RECEIVED).
2. X-RAYS.
3. Sealed Immigrant Packet (DO NOT OPEN AND MUST BE PRESENTED TO US CUSTOMS AT THE POINT OF ENTRY.

RB&CB reacted to payxibka in Does the NVC send you back anything after they send your Interview letter?
Hearsay evidence at best... Something always get lost in the translation... Good that you are verifying

RB&CB reacted to Crazy Cat in How many pictures to bring to the interview
Concentrate on quality evidence, not quantity. A few pictures is all you need.

RB&CB reacted to Michael2017 in A lot of Yemeni immigrant at Djibouti denied visas today
Yemen is banned and this has been confirmed by the supreme court. Only waiver can help and those are rare.
Until the near future, most Yemeni will be excluded from immigrating. This is good also, as they can not be vetted.
I worked in Yemen, and you can simply buy any kind of fake paper, starting from passport to police certificate.
I fully support that people coming from countries where there is no way to verify if they are criminals or not should
not be able to immigrate to the US or any other country.

Yes, the DMV here will require SSN for sure. Your visa will be enough, no need to wait for the physical card.
Oh, and just a bit of advice: the DMV here has huge wait times to pass the driving test. And yes, regardless of how many years of driving experience you have, you'll have to take the written test and the driving test. No buts about it sadly. be prepared to wait months to take the driving test...no idea why, but they're all insanely backed up. You might have to go down to Salem even if you want to get it faster.
Even though there is currently a huge wait (my husband had to wait around 2 months to take the driving test), I highly advise against paying the $$ for a private test at driving school. They are a total rip off and will fail you for the slightest mistake! The DMV testers are way nicer and you'll pass for sure with them. My husband is a great driver with experience and has never had a ticket or any kind of accident in his home country and they failed him at the private school. When he went to the DMV, he passed with flying colors. So, to sum up, it's worth the wait.

OP is on an IR-1/CR-1, so won't have an I-94. On arrival in the US, the stamped visa serves as a temporary green card for one year. Oregon DMV should accept that as proof of permanent residence and issue a licence with standard expiration. Oregon also requires SSN (or proof of ineligibility) for a license.

Sorry for my english....
Your drive licence Swedish, is good only for one month afther you arrive to USA
Oregon, give you a drive licence, but is good only for the time your i-94 not expire, i-94 expire, your Oregon drive licence expire...
You nead passport, i-94, and proof of adress in Oregon, if you change your name after married in usa, you nead your marriade certificate showing you change name...

You usually have to do both the written and the driving test. But don’t worry, all that’s required for the driving test in US is keeping both hands on the wheel, don’t use your phone while driving and drive straight. It’s a joke. No wonder car insurance is so ridiculously expensive in the US. Be prepared that what you pay for car insurance in the US is about to 10 to 12 times higher than what we pay in Sweden.
You need photo-ID and usually proof of legal status too. But since it varies from state to state, it’s best to check on Oregon’s DMV website.

Interview yesterday November 11, 2017 at Amsterdam General Consulate. Approved!!!
Went so smooth. Only interested in my originals. They didn't look at any more. The NVC packet was on their desk! Except for 27 pictures of time together after I-130 till recently, they did ask for those. Interview, 10 minutes twice, two different officers... Almost an anticlimax. Visa packet next week, by courier! We celebrated on Hangouts! Flo flew back November 9. So happy we got through this hoop! Getting there!
Wish you all interviews like mine!

Well, the gamble we took buying my husband's plane ticket for the day of my birthday (today) in advance paid off! I really didn't know if he would receive it in time and we were thinking we would have to cancel then flight when this morning I got the email saying his visa and passport were ready for pickup! I almost fainted! He got up and raced to get it and headed to the airport! He's now on his flight right now and will be landing in a few hours!!
I can't believe it's over!! I asked him what we're going to talk about now since that's all that has occupied our thoughts and conversation for months lol. Thanks for all the support y'all!

RB&CB reacted to EandH0904 in I think i got denied
You weren't refused a visa, you just weren't approved. There is a difference between the visa being refused and being returned to US, where it's expired. We don't know why you got put on AP. We don't know details of your relationship or of your case.
Maybe it's because you did not visit much, maybe it's because she did not meet your family, maybe it's because something came up in your background check, it's hard for us to say for certain.
Reaching out to a congressman will not let you know of why it was returned to the US. You can fill out a FOIA request to get notes the official made at your interview, but this is usually a lengthy process and often does not get you the results that you are looking for. You will get a letter in the mail from the USCIS stating that your petition was returned and is now expired, but no more, no less.
Usually in cases like this, the couple will then get married and file a CR1 paper - however, a word of caution, try to have much more time in person together before you do this. If you want the outcome of your CR1 to be that you get a visa, you need to try to think of all the possibilities for why your visa was not approved the first time and overcome those possibilities. When our visa was sent back to the US, we did two more visits and now we are getting married next month. We did not have much time together before filing and I think that was why we were not approved, but it's hard to say for sure.
So try to overcome any obstacles you have and get married and do a CR1 if you still want to be together. Know that this is a long road for you - I know it is expensive and difficult, but if it's a real relationship it would be worth it in the end.

Hallelujah and thank you Jesus! My husband just had his interview at the embassy in San Salvador, El Salvador and was approved!! I thought he'd be there much longer but his interview was at 8:30 and he called me at 8:50!!! He said he was interviewed by a lady and she was very nice but asked a lot of questions (not sure of the questions yet but when he gets home he will tell me) and she said everything was approved!!!
I cried tears of joy! I'm so over the moon! I can't believe that after so long this is over. I'm beyond grateful and feel so blessed. All of our prayers paid off and God heard us. God bless each and every one of you that helped along the way and for all your prayers and well wishes! Good luck to all of you awaiting your interviews!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
