If they both knowingly went into this for her to just get her paperwork they're both wrong.... No one has the right to talk down on her if that were the case, we are all human.... We don't have to be rude and bitter in how we speak to each other... This site is a support group not a group to talk down on someone because you disagree with what they're doing... Your option is just that, YOURS... I am not taking sides but please bashing her and saying rude things to her isn't going change anything. We all can give meaningful advice that isn't bias...

I appreciate the update "Pushbrk" but my time line has already taken care of that aspect. I am under the impression that a ticker can be used informally by any member on VJ. Thanks again but unless it violates the TOS i'll like mine to remain just that...NOA3!

I dont know the story behind this and neither the Ethiopian culture, the fact that he believes you can only have children being married sounds like he may have many many issues in the US.

OP stated that both of them have leases through 2017, yes? OP, is it possible to add your name to your husband's studio lease, and his name to your lease? At least then, both of you would be on both leases.

It doesn't make sense your explanation. You could live in a two- bedroom apartment.

you said that the sleep disorder prevents you from sleeping in the same room, you do not even reside in the same building. Still not sure why you have separate apartments when all you need is separate rooms to sleep in. If it doesn't make sense to us, it won't make sense to an IO. From the outside looking in it looks like a marriage in order to obtain immigration benefits. Just playing devils advocate. They don't care about your potential broken leases, it isn't their problem.

Had the interview today. And after a clumsy conversation (nervous and I'm feeling under the weather) I was approved!
Best of luck to the rest of you!

We're both flying to the US in a few hours from Manila to Honolulu. Long journey, slower than others and faster than some. All I can say is once your case hits NVC it goes very fast from there and the interview was the least stressful part of the whole process looking back. Best of luck to those of you that are still working on it!!

First I-129 f petition was approved and following K1 application refused and returned to USCIS and USCIS allowed it to expire.
OP re filed I-129 f and is waiting for NOA2.

The embassy in Ghana should have re validated the petition automatically while they were sitting on it, they do have that
discretion and authority, that is what happens at every other embassy. Instead they were once again ridiculous and just
returned it, why ? Because they can and there are no checks and balances.
Second K1's can be successful, our second K1 was ! If they did anything that resembles a "knocking" then of course
they will be refused again and have to do a CR1.
Ghana makes me want to puke they are so ridiculous and a burden on the entire flow of the system.
They backlog themselves into a corner with their gazillion refusals and returns and then wonder why they are backlogged.

I think the petition was denied at interview because it expired. There is only a 4-month validity period from NOA2. If you read the original post, it said they were approved in July and interviewed in December-- the petition automatically would have been denied REGARDLESS of if the relationship was genuine or not. Some kinder embassies might ignore the validity period passing, depending on the reason but Ghana is difficult.
If they refile, which it appears they have, there is nothing the OP has said that means the result will be the same as the first time (denial). They just need to make sure they book their interview within 4 months of NOA2 to avoid it expiring again.
It doesn't appear that the OP is asking a question-- just venting about the process they've gone through.

Second K1's do work. ( we are proof ) the consulate can get away with stupid reasons for denying the first K1 but the second one they really have to show proof of being right about denying it. Second petitions for the same partner have high success rates as either a K1 or Cr1. Getting married does not prove you have a legit relationship. Most fraudsters use CR1 thinking marriage in itself is proof.

You mean the i129f was approved by the USCIS in July 2015, correct? Does not seem like OP has an approved K-1.
I really don't think it was that foolish of the lawyer. Chances are that not all lawyers know specifics about each embassy, only about the process itself.
Denial over an expired NOA-2 is a completely valid reason to refile. The trouble comes in that Ghana is a difficult embassy regardless.

I think they're on their second time around and just telling what they've gone through. If they posed a question, it really wasn't clear.

So sorry about your denial. Did your case have any other red flags? Are you older than him? Different religions? Did you marry on your first meeting? Have you had a long relationship with lots of visits?
From read the forums it seems that Ghana wants specific things - but I had not heard of them needing pictures with parents.
Let's try and sort this out so when you refile you'll be better prepared.
    good luck
