They definitely don't do this everywhere, and it really doesn't matter why someone doesn't want their first name divulged; that's their business.
 
The USCIS reps at my ceremony seemed to be going out of their way to not divulge any personal information. Our line into the room had a gap and a "wait here" sign while they inspected a person's interview notice questionnaire several feet ahead. They also directed people to seating in such an order so that certificates could be handed out as people stood up to leave, with the USCIS reps only whispering each person's first name to confirm. Seemed respectful, but it will definitely depend on the location., @weakheart

If they don't take you, call the USCIS customer service number (1 (800) 375-5283) immediately after trying a walk-in and request a tier 2 officer and ask them to do a reschedule for your biometrics. You can send photocopies of any original documents / certificates and their certified English translations without notarizing. You'll need the originals on hand for the IO at the AOS interview.

Whatever you want. There's no dress code. I've seen people  processed in PJs who look like they just rolled out of bed.

You are wrong, it will. He should keep it 10-20% of the credit limit on the card and pay in full every month. Credit history is a big part of the score and he is building trustworthiness by showing he pays every month.

For an example, I know that the Chicago field office covers parts of Indiana, and the St. Louis field office covers a lot of southern Illinois counties. So not everyone is limited to a field office in their state; it depends on where they reside in their state. There are also Application Support Centers that do biometrics outside of the actual field offices, so you may not necessarily have to go to your USCIS field office for your biometrics. You can google "USCIS application support centers" to see if there are any closer to you than your field office. I believe they try to schedule people at locations that are closest to them, and it looks like there are no field offices in ND and SD. Next one east is St. Paul in MN.

Visiting the USA is a privilege that the government bestowed upon you. The fact that you could visit for 90 days without a visa is another privilege that was bestowed upon you by the government. Many other countries are not so lucky or privileged. You abused at least one privilege so that privilege had been withdrawn from you. It's not about breaking laws, it's about breaking the "agreement" that you made with the government when you entered the country using the VWP. You're lucky the USA allows visitors to adjust status - many other places don't. 
 
You didn't successfully adjust so you overstayed and were in breach of the provisions of the VWP. End of story. That's why AOS from VWP always carries a risk. If, for whatever reason, you don't complete the process or it's denied you are an overstayer and subject to removal. And csn no longer use the VWP.
 
There are no rights when it comes to immigration. Just privileges and benefits.

8 days. I had the interview on June 28th, status changed to "in line for oath ceremony scheduling" on July 3rd, and then I got the notice that the ceremony was scheduled on July 6th. The actual notice came in the mail on July 10th.

You won't have any issues because you're over 31. To put your mind at ease, you can review the USCIS policy manual on this topic:
