I was munching on some Twiglets tonight, standing in the kitchen while he was in the living room watching TV. Like any self-respecting man, as soon the show got a little quiet and he could hear the rustle of a snack bag, he came scurrying in to see what I was snacking on. Practically slid in the room in his stocking feet, only to discover it was Twiglets (alas) and not the very nice Walkers Cheese & Onion crisps. He called me a heartless tease.  

We make our own sausages because I just couldn't find any I liked here and on the back of that I make Scotch eggs and sausage rolls and everyone around here begs me to make more.

How about we stop raising kids today to be victims? Maybe stop teaching kids that everything about them must be "affirmed" by society at large and if anyone doesn't celebrate their existence then they are the enemy. How about we stop drugging children up for every little thing? Maybe we can teach kids that respect is not demanded, it is earned. Let's teach kids that not everyone you run across in your life is going to like you, and that's ok, it's not the end of the world. Maybe adults who can't deal with their child's behavior at a young age should find a way to deal with them that doesn't involve taking them to a doctor and having something prescribed for the child to make them easier to handle. How about we stop letting the trouble makers off the hook because "maybe they were dealing with something" or they came from a rough upbringing. What about the people who think cops should do something who at the same time wan't to demonize the police for doing something? 
 
Sure it's easy for those with an anti 2nd amendment bent to go straight to that well, but they never seem to want to address what we are doing to kids. I work in a building with a lot of young people, and it is frightening how many of them are on meds and are not shy about telling you. We are destroying an entire generation with the nonsense their heads are being filled with and the drugs that are being pumped into them. 
 
We have created this incredibly fragile, broken generation who can't handle any adversity. I hate to be that "back in my day" guy, but damn, what the hell happened? The schools didn't look like prisons like they do now with walls and fences surrounding the buildings. Guys had gun racks in their trucks in the parking lot (with guns in them) and it wasn't even something to think about or worry about. The ONLY thing that I see that is different from 40 years ago when I was in school is that nobody was medicated like they are now and we were taught that adversity makes you stronger and it wasn't the end of the world.

I don't think so, but when some psycho wants to annihilate a whole nation just because and you can do something, you simply do it because what else would you do? Sit and wait till he comes for you? Not acceptable.

Third anniversary today.
 
Even here, your parents meeting your fiancée a few hours before the wedding is probably not super common, though my intention was for it to be the day before. I didn't think there would be any issue booking a civil ceremony for Friday on Tuesday ... so we ended up with the last slot on Thursday, and almost missed it due to traffic.

Anyway, she's been great, our little boy is adorable (even if he didn't want to let the neighbors' little girl play with his toys last night), and I don't know how I would have managed the craziness of the last two years without them.

I second OFX, been using them to transfer money since before I moved here. Customer service is really good and responsive and the exchange rate is consistently good.

Kid1 turned 15 last week 😱😭 how'd that even happen?!  Signed said child up for driver training.  6 hours and then off to DPS to get a permit...so not ready!

The Jedi is 8 today. How on earth is this happening again. All my babies are growing up and I'm not ready.

Just popping in to wish everyone a happy New Year. Herself and I have come to Heber Springs until Monday. We are right on the Little Red River. She has been busy giving the ducks and geese what for. And the motor boats and fisher folk going up and down. This place is huge. Our house would fit in here four times with room to spare. She keeps losing me
 
It has got a dog enclosure with an igloo dog house, but other that that, it is not fenced. So, that would account for my wandering about at 03:30 in my parka and gumboots.
 
There has to be one flaw in the plan of course. Severe weather ahead, and no fraidy hole here. Scoped out a closet that will have to do.

It's hard these days to tell if it's someone who really needs help or not. So many ppl around here that are tag teaming areas. They don't want you to bring them food they want money only. I know the man you came across wanted food, but it is hard to tell who really needs it. Some ppl here will say they don't care if they are scammers or not if they want to give money they don't care what the other person does with it. I don't help that way anymore. I try to look for certain things. Like when the Jedi was sick with GBS the hospital he was at has certain spot they ask for donation. I try to find these guys because I know the money does good. A family like ours could be there and the bills rack up fast. This hospital has programs set up to pay a portion or the whole bill. All donations go to this program it's not ran by the state so they need all the help they can get to be able to keep helping.  
 
So my tip for you is to find a church or something that you can go to and pick a family in need to help. Some places had giving trees where you can pick a child/family and help fulfill their wishes. It's a bit late for this Christmas but there are many opportunities in the future. Keep your eyes open and maybe you will find the right moment.

Nothing doing here. All the people who live out this way have gone off for the holiday. Quiet in the extreme. Herself and I are spending the day like any other. It is 73° today and more like May than December.
