A lady friend of my mom's went to her immigrant interview on 4/5 without her vaccination records and got the R1 form. After she got her vax, she mailed the record together with her passport to the consulate and completed her case.

I would say, your mom would definitely need her vax record, but she can go to the interview without it and resubmit it after.

By the way, that vaccine site is always busy and only accept phone appointments at this time 🙄

Hi everyone. Long time no see 😊 I hope yall are well.
My mom and dad had their joint interview at the HCMC consulate on April 19, and I was asked to resubmit my i-864, which I uploaded to the NVC portal on the same day. We patiently waited for a couple weeks, and got the good news today from the consulate (they called my parents): "Your immigrant visa applications are approved. Please mail in your passports for visa issuance." 🎉
I was quite surprised on how fast their applications moved. I wish everyone a pleasant visa journey as well.

    Sorry for the late reply.
Due to CoVid, my parents' applications were in DQ idle mode 😅 from September and November last year and only got to the HCMC consulate in March. They scheduled both my parents for an interview on April 19.
    I hope that helps.
We scanned the photos and uploaded them on the NVC website.

There’s nothing “technical” about it. Because your parents chose to hide your true nationality for ease of entering is not a reason for anyone else to follow incorrect advice.  In this particular instance (child will either be with dad or met by dad at airport) it will be very obvious to CBP that the child has a usc father and will obviously lead to questions on entry. Won’t be flying under the radar (accompanied by non usc parent) like you did. If the OP mother  here - not a USC - lies on the ESTA form for her daughter, the mother is committing an offense under US law that could prove very problematic for her down the line.

And again, your terminology is wrong. The certificate of citizenship does not “backdate” your citizenship. Read the N600 instructions. It is only to be used when someone is already a citizen. You were always a citizen. The N600 proved that by using the start date of your citizenship as your birth date.  The start date on my daughter’s one is the day I became a citizen, because that is when she automatically naturalized. She was a citizen from that day, regardless which or when I applied for any documents for her.

    Hello guys,

Sorry I am late to the Feb-2020 filers party 😊

    Here is my timeline:
    USC Petitioner: Me
Beneficiaries: My parents (I filed for them both at the same time)
I filed online and the appications got assigned to Nebraska Service Center.

    I-130 filing date: 1/31/2020
    Priority date: 2/1/2020
    Father's I-130 Approval date: 5/4/2020
Mother's I-130 Approval date: Pending (as of 6/24/2020)
Father's NVC account creation date: 5/7/2020
Father's NVC AoS and civil documents submission date: 6/19/2020

Im still waiting for my mom's I-130 to be approved but not in a hurry because CoVid19 has been delaying consulate processing anyway. One of the applications (I forgot which one) did ask for who you were sponsoring to the US with the petitioner, so I put my parents' names on. Hopefully they will get interviewed together once the HCMC consulate opens up again.

Are you sure you would like to bring your parents here even though you did not make it to the required income level?
Having both parents here could bring you a lot of stresses if you are not emotionally and financially ready.
I would suggest you find a co-sponsor (best is your spouse) or wait for another year or so to hopefully get your income high enough to apply without co-sponsoring.

    Good luck!

Thanks a lot!! I figured it out myself, but it was so confusing and made me feel like I should submit it by mail if I wanted consulate processing. For others who might have the same questions, it warns you if you click next once, but if you click twice it goes to the next.

Why does the US have a duty to keep non-American adults together? They are all adults. And if being together is important they can stay where they are. They are together now.

Note that the USA is one of the only countries in the world that allows people to apply for citizenship after 2 years 9 months as a resident AND allows citizens to bring in parents and siblings.

    @handsofholes,

Don't take offense but you are not seeing it rationally. A person over 21 is an adult, and just because they live with their parents does not mean they are no longer adults. They do not need the dependence of a parent like a 5 or 6 year old.

But the main point is that you are frustrated over an immigrant benefit that most other countries don't offer. If you look around the world most countries don't even offer a person the ability to bring over parents and siblings... AT ALL. I tried to see if Lebanon offers it but could not find anything. Bringing parents and siblings is a huge benefit but immigrants should not rely heavily on it as there are many things that could happen. And as already mentioned, the US government does not have an obligation to keep extended families together. It was the decision of your wife to immigrate and her joining you as an American citizen was accomplished. Bringing over extended family has its limits.

Think of it like this, bringing over extended family is a generous benefit of the US but there needs to be limitations. Age cut off is one and no derivative is another. It already takes too ling for a person to bring over a spouse and minor children (it was taking over a year in normal processing times) so imagine if there was no limit to family based petitions. The process would be so flooded that it would take several years for a man to bring over his wife, for example. The point is there can not be a, "come one, come all" solution that maintains fast reunification of families. Logistically it can't happen.

    Hello guys!

We just got back from the combo I-751/N-400 interview at the Houston field office. It was such a pleasant experience! The FO already had my I-751 as well as N-400 applications on her desk when she walked us to her office. She then briefly went thru the process of conducting a combo interview: I-751 first and N-400 after. I had the option to ask my husband out and do the N-400, but I told her it was fine if he was in the room.

The FO then ask my husband for my full name, DOB, and phone number. Lol, my poor husband didnt remember my phone number, but the FO was ok with that lol. Then we just talked about random stuff, my new job, and the house we are in the process of buying. I asked if she would like new evidence from us, but she said no, because what we sent before was enough.
N-400 interview was followed, and it was as easy as it could be. She stopped at the 6th question I answered correctly and got me to read and write a sentense. Also asked me all those yes/no questions you see in the N-400 form.

She said she couldnt make the decision for I-751 yet because she had to log in to the system at CSC, which took her a bit longer than the 25 mins we had, but I should expect to see the update before end of the day. She also gave me the oath ceremony instruction. Here in Houston, it is conducted once a month. Since I missed the July one, the next session will be on August 21st.

While I was chatting with her, I asked her if there were a lot of combo cases like mine. She said she saw at least one combo case a week, she had 3 this week, and she said if the law allowed you to file, file it. It would save you some time (in my case, about 7 months)

Phewww.... That was it. I got a status update on my N-400 case "Oath Ceremony will be scheduled" at 4:20pm and just now, I-751 new status "New Card is being produced." Everything from the start (I-485) to this day (I-751/N-400 combo) was good. Never had any problem exept for the long wait at the Houston office. The two FOs we interviewed with were professional, knowledgeable, and had great sense of humor. We felt no pressure and actually enjoyed talking to them.

Good luck to all of you on this citizenship journey. Mine ended today!

Not really that bad tho. For those that live in busy cities like Houston or Dallas, TX, filing i751 and N400 together might save us a couple months so we could end up being naturalized a bit faster 😊 and apparently, if the marriage is real, I dont think the interview would be that scary 😊 our 2-yr green card interview lasted 5 mins.
