Immigration is not playing games anymore...They are no longer lax as they used to be
    1. Just because she had a co-sponsor that meet the income requirements her income is still too low
    2. Ghana's embassy is no joke...even though it has improved recently....you have to visit...1 or 2 visits will not suffice....they are very big on face to face time
    3. U had no info on the wife surgery or knew nothing about the co sponsor or how the brother in law passed away

    1. Ghana itself is a difficult embassy.
    2. Ur wife didnt visit u after marriage.
    3. Her income is very low to even support herself.
    4. The CO asked u again regarding why ur wife didnt visit u after the marriage ( u still didnt explain).
    5. U had no proof of her surgery.
    6. U knw nothing abt the co sponsor
    7. U and ur wife didnt do any or enough research regarding this case or Ghana Embassy.

Like already mentioned, the CO didnt think the marriage was bonafide that's why the case was returned. If it was just the income, the CO would've  approved ur visa becuase she had a co sponsor yet her income in very low.... Rignt now, u will have to wait until it case is returned to the states n back to the Embassy for a 2nd interview and this can take over a year...during this wait, I'll suggest that ur wife make few more trips to Ghana, get a 2nd job and build ur case for the 2nd interview.

good questions as $17,000 is way low
can sure how she was able to afford the trip to meet an the attorney

do not take all this as  putting you down
really we are here to help
but honestly,  if you could not work yourself when coming to the US.,you would find living on $17,000 in the US is hard
some of these rules are also meant to protect you as you are totally unaware of living here

I see a few issues here
1st   it is Ghana and there are many denied visas
2nd   you are introduced thru a person/ he then would have been  a friend and you don't know how he died??????
3rd    you have not been together since the marriage
4th    the CO saw the income was not sufficient  to  enable the visa
5th   you said wife had a  surgery  and you did not state the nature of her illness  and  that was  the questions

you overcome this by getting to know your wife better and prove  a REAL relationship
she has to improve her income level
show she is not still ill and is able to provide so you will not become a public charge
prove you are educated so you can work in the US as married over 2 years the 10 year green card will be issued
and she reapplys  showing all of the above

A little advice, you should focus on having enough visits with your spouse, and your evidence and fees that are down the line, making sure your hubby is ready for his side of the process, his interview will be the highlight!!, he needs plenty of evidence that your marriage is bona fide, you cannot force uscis to hurry your case no matter who you contact, I'm not gonna convey things that could happen by harassing them, but your time would be better spent focusing on preparing for what's down the line, your husband interview will be filled with questions and no one knows what those questions are or how many there will be!, you have no idea how long the wait is if he isn't approved! this time your waiting now is nothing!! go back through the years here in Ghana portal and read up on Ghana embassy and prepare your self and hubby so you can have a great outcome. Just my advice from an experienced 5 year waiter, good luck in your journey.

the members who ask WHY and HOW this could happen to them, need help (if we can give it)
comments here are not meant to scare/ they are sincere and honest and sometimes can sound brutal (as mine do)
but i went thru 6 years of an immigration nightmare to be with my husband and the VJ members helped

Stuff like this is very easy to say, when you never had to take care of someone who is nothing but troubles and who is ungrateful. Do you really think its all about food? She's an adult, not an old person and she should be able to contribute. And if she can't find a job, she should at least babysit so OP can work.

And I'm sure its all kind of emotional burdens also. There is TONS of people who think that taking care of elderly parents is easy, but when it actually comes to that - they give up.

My take on all of this is, perhaps, with less workers=less petitions being processed=less immigrants coming in.
I could very well be looking at it all wrong, but that's my thinking as to why the sudden number of lay-offs are really happening.,

You don't "choose' which category you fall in to, in any other means but by the time you file the petition, it gets accepted and you receive and activate your visa. Might happen in few months, might take longer than 2 years.

You, for some reason seem to be thinking it's better to wait for 2 years after the marriage to avoid conditional green card because you think those who've been married less than 2 years are scrutinized more? Did you stop to think how odd it is to wait that two years for no good reason before filing? I mean, if you willingly wait 2 years separated of your spouse to avoid conditional green card rather that spend that time building life together with your spouse, it's going to raise some eyebrows. It's like practically ask for people to dig in the case deeper than usual to see why married couple would rather be in different countries than in same place living together. Very suspicious.

People get denied visa and/or entry for many reasons. Some makes mistakes on filing, some let our little white lie and it's caught, some don't have finical means, list goes on and on. Everyone is scrutinized the same, regardless of the lenght of marriage.

I agree, there are a lot of things going on in the back.  This is why i said a while ago that a lot of people are distracted by the tweets and the bs that gets broadcasted.  But the people in office are doing lots of damage and changing lots of things.  When Trump is gone, we will hear about these things

The number of applications have increaed, I bet. Because those who thought they are legal here and didn't need the GC to do anything are now applying due to the new rules. Lots of people who hadn't naturalized or felt they didn't need it and now doing so because you can never know what kind of new immigration policy may be coming out soon.
So i will definitely believe that more and more people are applying just to  secure their status.

That executive order only applies to tourists, business travelers and other short term visas. With that being said, I still agree that this major slowdown to the immigration process is unreasonable, considering we pay fees and they already increased it last year.

I want to thank all of you here on VJ for all the great advice and encouragement over these past few years.  My husband's IR1 visa was approved today, thank God very much.  Luckily, he was asked only a few basic questions.  The officer had taken all of his evidence, looked it over, then called him to the window.  There he was just asked if his case was a reaffirmed one, how many children he has and if his child will immigrate with him.  That was it.  The embassy personnel then gave him the long awaited blue slip of paper instructing him to pick up his visa in 2 weeks. It has been such a long and stressful journey and I wanted to share our success to give others hope.

MrsBonsu reacted to Jenilyn and Awal in After 17 months security check ombudsman helped us
My spouses packet was returned August 2015 , NVC received it Jan 1, 2016, USCIS received it March1, 2016. This has been a nightmare . We waited 181 days called to ask what was going on with the case and was lead many different avenues, misinformation did not know what was going on, made infopass meetings called senator, congressmen2, more infopass called everyone wrote everyone and was told by tier two co stop calling because they get pissed of and you never get your case done! Well he was right, wonder if he tossed it under his desk at that point. Well I heard to try ombudsman and I did the simple form sent the evidence,  I had tried a bajillion other ways to solve this . The ombudsman contacted me right away said at 45 days they assign the case , day 46 I got a letter again from ombudsman saying they sent request that the case needed update and wanted know what's going on, next day 47, I got another letter stating USCIS was actively working on our case . So it is no longer under security check( amazing) and was being worked on . So my reason to write all this is to encourage you keep searching , use ombudsman . We are still a long way to go but it's moving now at least! Alhamdullah God is Good!

You are a year late filing. You were to file soon as your divorce was final with a waiver. As others have said your evidence is weak. It's about that very quick marriage. All you can do is submit what you have and hope for the best.

    STOP giving wrong advice.

Stop claiming just because you go through Casa you know best, ridiculous.

OP's petition (K1 case) has been returned and will be expired. Period.
What you posted has absolutely nothing to do with this topic.
This is about the 4-5 th time I asked you to stop posting irrelevant posts in various threads, all you do is cause confusion
when you post about returned cases.
Learn the basics between AP, returned K1's and returned spousal visas before misleading others here.
People have a hard enough time to understand the return process without you posting things that do not apply to their situation,
    petition and process.

You were misinformed, the returned petition will NOT be reviewed.
After about 6 months you will receive a letter that says your petition has expired.
Nothing else, no letter with reasons, just that it's expired and that you can file again.
Returned petitions for K1's will never be reviewed or reaffirmed, only returned spousal petitions get that chance for review.
Returned I-129 petitions will not get revoked or denied, they are purposely allowed to expire due to a law suit several years ago
involving the P6C fraud marker so whoever told you otherwise is wrong.

Visit, marry, file a CR1. Stay as long as you can. Collect good relationship evidence and front load your next petition.

I want to add to the comment about if your relationship is genuine, you won't have to worry.  I am significantly older than my husband, I was 53 and he 27 when we married.  Our relationship is genuine, and we submitted evidence of owning real estate and other things together and he was still denied.  His case was reaffirmed, but this added 1.5 years to the process.
So please, even if your relationship is genuine with a large age difference, be prepared to be looked at with more scrutiny.
It's nice that one case with this sort of age difference got through with no problem, but I don't believe that's the norm.

Wow, I am just trying to be a good person.  The girl left the child, we are not sure if she id dead or alive.  She just left the child with an old woman.  Trust me this is an unselfish act for the child.  Why she left and where she is - is not the issue.  I want to do what is best in the long run for a little boy.  Again, my husband cheated - I am a big girl I understand that I am not 100% myself.  But I understand that this little boy would be in the street without the kindness of my sister-in-law who is too old to take care of a small boy.  My husband to date does not claim this child but we help because it is the right thing to do.  He is an innocent child in all this and deserves to be safe.  I want to make sure in the worse case scenario he has an option if we can give it to him.

Hi, did you have to do a rebuttal? Or was it just reaffirmed without needing to show more proof?, I would say focus on what they questioned, yes they will have what you sent it in already so I would concentrate on showing more detail from when your case was returned, like more visits, detailed chats where you discuss life and family etc, pics from the visits, in general for detail, but most of this detail your hubby needs to be familiar with because it's him they will question with all your sending in and even past stuff sent in, you never know what they are going to ask, good luck ☺🙏🏾
