The instructions for the form say--

Use the following guidelines when you prepare your check or money order for the Form I-485 filing and biometrics services fee:
    1. The check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States and must be payable in U.S. currency; and
    2. Make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
NOTE: Spell out U.S. Department of Homeland Security; do not use the initials "USDHS" or "DHS."
    Always read the instructions.

Adam & Anne reacted to aaron2020 in Getting Married (B1 Tourist visa) - Please Help
    Hi,
She does not need a visa. Visas are used to enter the US. She is already here, so she does not need a visa.
Once you are married, she files for an Adjustment of Status to get a green card. Follow the Guides at the top of this page.
When she AOS, she will be allowed to stay here (even when her visitor visa expires). There are conditions. If she leaves without AP or a green card, then she abandons the AOS. It takes about 90 days to get AP.
You will need a Joint Sponsor for the I-864 Affidavit of Support.
    Best of luck.

Adam & Anne reacted to waiting4awhile in Addressing TSC Wait Times Directly to TSC Employees
I'm a new member here and have been absorbing all the information regarding the disproportionate wait times for K1 filers at the TSC. I only submitted my petition last month, so I already know I'm in for a long wait. It is a really unfair bureaucratic nightmare.
Despite this, I was happy to participate in the recommendations from this post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/537595-tsc-k1-backlog-what-can-we-do-for-tsc-non-expedites-only/ including signing petitions, contacting federal agencies, the White House, etc.
Now I'd like to suggest an additional route for inquiry. (It's just an idea, and the workload is entirely on those who choose to pursue this, I can't do much more than run additional lead generation tools/lists.) How about networking with TSC employees directly? Meaning appeal to TSC employees with shared or similar education/professional backgrounds, or connections to people you know with such backgrounds.
This route will require a lot of research and carefully orchestrated communication; but this is how favors are dealt everyday in the real world. The other option, spamming the hell out of everybody, although possible, would not be my first choice. A thoughtful, individual approach, in my experience, is more fruitful. But hey, I could be wrong! Especially since their email domain accepts all messages, not just internal ones (see explanation below).
Here is a spreadsheet containing all the data I could mine from LinkedIn today of DHS employees (~250) located in Dallas/Fort Worth, as this is where the TSC is located. It includes:
Name: See if anyone in your network on Facebook/Twitter/Email contact lists shares a last name for potential connections. Email Address: All have a @dhs.gov domain. I tested a sample of emails to see if they could receive external messages; and luckily, they can. (Woot!) LinkedIn URL: Their professional profile on LinkedIn. Job Title: USCIS employees are listed first, read their job descriptions from their LinkedIn profile to see if they deal with processing or adjudication. However, this list will also include some people who don't work for USCIS directly. It's up to you to determine whether those people are networking-worthy candidates. The only people I removed were those who work for TSA, as most were simply security officers at airports without any management-level clout. Education: Where they went to school - Use this to possibly appeal to shared alumni connections from your network. Groups: Professional groups they are members of on LinkedIn. See if there is any overlap or connections to people you know. Skills: Self-reported skills. See if there is any overlap or connections to people you know. Interests: Self-reported interests. See if there is any overlap or connections to people you know. Previous Employer: Where they have worked besides DHS - Use this to possibly appeal to shared professional connections from your network. FYI sheet 2 contains additional unsorted LinkedIn urls onl, but these are people that work for USCIS directly. One final note: It looks like USCIS has contracted out a lot of its work to 3rd parties. I have no idea the implications of this on 129F processing, but it's something to consider.
I work in data mining, so I am happy to run additional tools/lists in different geographic areas or with different keywords if you can think of anything else.
    Let me know your thoughts.
    Thanks!

You can travel to Canada first, but I'm not sure you can POE by bus since I'm not sure the bus will wait for you to go through the POE process. You have to go through secondary inspection when you POE.

    No. You do not qualify.
You have no understanding of the volume of paperwork they have to deal with. Yours, alas, is not the only case. They are slow. That is what volume does.
What "everyone knows", is that this process is time consuming. What "everyone knows", is that patience is required.
What not everyone seems to know, is that getting annoyed when the response to your question isn't what you want will not encourage people to volunteer to help you in future.

Don't get snotty. Realize your situation of your choosing does not sit well with law abiding US citizens. You choose to break our laws. Don't pass judgment on others wHen you don't know their situations while asking for help with your illegal situation. That takes brass balls.Realize that your only path to a green card is marriage to a USC.

35 years old is not young. Compared to the 65 year old husband, yes, she is younger, but she is no ingenue to the world at 35. She should've known better. My suspicion is she had plans to 'manipulate' the husband (with respect to property, money, immigration, benefits) but the husband was smarter than her and moved to checkmate.

She is not being treated as a Slave, and please refrain from using that statement.
If she is wanting to get out she can go to a womens shelter and file for divorce.

There's a 50/50 chance if you go searching for love in an undeveloped county full of beautiful woman that's willing to do anything for a better life for them, and their family-- you'll end up broke, heart broken, and on the edge of a cliff wondering what the hell was i thinking.

    hi
find yourself a new joint sponsor, he should never have been your joint sponsor. to sponsor or joint sponsor, have to have current income
he or she has to cover the beneficiary in case they get means tested benefits. so if he doesn't have a current steady income, he never qualified to be your joint sponsor
    find someone who has income

Yes, really they do. I have been separated from my husband during this process for a long time. If he came here illegally, he could be getting a driver's license, social security card and a job right now.
Please explain the logic in this?

Can someone explain to me all these "hoops" ,many are the same "hoops", which have been jumped over/thru again and again, that are put forth by my government? WE ARE MARRIED!! SHE WAS HERE BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT APPROVED HER (AND ME) ALREADY IN THE PAST!!! We recently submitted a petition in August for her to return, IT WAS APPROVED!. Now this info. goes to NVC which seems to require much of the SAME information that has been submitted time and time again, and was in the packet they just received in August. (ex. passport photos, why do they need more goddamn passport photos?) They should have all this information on file from previous applications and visa. (I included case #'s, visa #'s, whatever, from our first application & acceptance in this recent petition for MY WIFE to return.) YES,... I understand the need to update some of our information, but a lot of these requirements seem to be ridiculous and unnecessary. WE ARE MARRIED!!! Where is the logic from the "powers that be", when we have so many illegals in my country that the government caters to? This is absolutely unbelievable! Some politician needs to look into some of these requirements and exercise some commonsense and make logical changes in these requirements.
    Any comments will be welcomed.
