KMArmenta got a reaction from Lucky2Lucky in Mother in US Illegally- I-130?
I do understand. I just wanted to make sure I was clear on every aspect. We too, have gone through the hoops of doing things legally.
I’m sure many people here can understand and relate to the pressures parents put on their children who become naturalized.

I can get her certified as a technician fairly quickly and hire her into my tanning salon, or I could hire her in as a bookkeeper for my primary business.

KMArmenta got a reaction from Visitor User in Mother in US Illegally- I-130?
Hello,
My husband and I want to file paperwork to give his mother legal status in the US. Currently she is here undocumented.
Backstory - My husband received citizenship via the US Military in 2016. Currently he is still in the military reserves, attending college, and working full time. I own two successful companies, and work full time between the two.
My mother in law was previously caught crossing the border and finger printed, she was told there would be a 20 year ban on her entering the US. (She was given no paperwork on this and a query with USCIS shows no records of her name) She entered illegally anyways and has been here ever since. Now that ban period is up and we want to know what we would have to do to get her a legal status.
I see that most likely an I-130 would be appropriate, but I am a bit confused on the procedure since she is here currently. Would she have to return to Mexico to do an interview and biometrics at a consulate?
Additionally we can provide an affidavit of support and I could also potentially hire her as an employee, so would it be easier to somehow get her a legal status by sponsoring her as an employer?
Thanks for your time!

Thank you for writing, in much better words than I could have, exactly what I've been thinking reading through this thread. Nice to know there are like-minded people here.

Thank you, Susie. That was my main purpose here.
It seems many many people are angry with me for the actions of my mother in law, even though I agree she’s in the wrong and only want to find out how we can fix the situation. Obviously going back to Mexico isn’t an option on her radar, or she would have gone when we offered to support her financially there.

Just a question for those suggesting she leaves and assuming she is 9C, that is not clear, how do you serve out a lifetime bar without being reincarnated?

Naturalization at Basic Training
USCIS established the Naturalization at Basic Training Initiative in August 2009 with the Army to give noncitizen enlistees the opportunity to naturalize when they graduate from basic training. Under this initiative, USCIS conducts all naturalization processing including the capture of biometrics, the naturalization interview and administration of the Oath of Allegiance on the military installation. Since 2009 USCIS has expanded the initiative to the Navy, Air Force, and finally to the Marine Corps in 2013, giving enlistees of these branches equal opportunity to (in most cases) leave basic training as U.S. citizens

Congratulations!!! The same exact thing happened to me yesterday, even though we still had a week till our RFE response review due date. We got an interview notice in the mailbox, but never get any emails or online status updates.
Anyway I'm happy for you and good luck to you guys with the interview!

KMArmenta reacted to lysander in Paying someone to be a joint sponsor
I wonder if there are some people who pay a friend to be a joint sponsor of their fiance(e) or spouse. I've been exploring that option with a friend of mine, since my income and assets fall short of the threshold. He was saying he might sign the I-864 it if I make it worth his while.
The way I look at, it seems similar to insurance. You pay someone else a premium because you're not able or willing to take on the risk if something goes wrong. The premium is whatever amount will be enough to compensate the insurer for the risk of a claim being filed. (A "claim" in this case would be a lawsuit for support.)
I'm a little surprised no one has tried to make a business out of this. If someone had deep enough pockets, he could be a joint sponsor for many immigrants, and charge a fee based on the estimated level of risk. For example, there aren't any reported cases (that I know of) of a Mexico national suing a financial sponsor for support, so there might be good reason to charge Mexico nationals a lower fee for joint sponsorship.

We made it there an hour and 17 minutes late. USCIS Raleigh NC. The security guard was really nice, everyone there was. We were out in twenty minutes. So glad they let us get it done.

Maybe I should have said something like "OMG I just got my EAD approved... Thank you so much USCIS for taking less than 3 months, I am so lucky" pffff.
You have no idea about my process or anything about my personal life. So it very presumptuous of you to tell how to feel or what to write in this forum.
I could explain to you why I wrote "finally" but given the tone of your message I chose not to do it.
My intention was not not to offend anybody in the forum by using the word "finally". I am sorry if someone took it the wrong way.

I would have probably said the same thing- Finally! We don't know exactly how long she has been waiting to get her EAD. We don't know her story. Before DACA, i had been waiting for 25 years! I think it's the wait behind it all. I think a little more support is needed. Granted, some of them filed after us but lets share the same moment of joy we are bound to have eventually. My two cents only of course ::positivity is key::

Hi Folks,
So happy I got my biometrics appointment today!!! according to everybody else timeline my case is going with no delays.
It's dated 03/13/15 and original appointment date is 04/01/2015 in the morning at ASC Oakland Park, FL.
I'm going to try a walk in this monday!!!
Any tips besides bringing this NOA and Photo ID???
What if they ask me why am I trying to walk in besides waiting for the original appointment date?
Last week I made a question asking if biometrics it's intended for Work Permit and now I certainly know that yes. It says case type I485 and I765.
Wishing the best luck to everybody!!

This is wrong thinking.
You would be going through the same waiting and stress if you had used a lawyer.
And, it would be worse, because the lawyer would receive all the paper mails and
would be late in telling you what the RFE said (for instance).
You would call and call, leave messages, and the lawyer would not reply.
Then the lawyer would reply, but would confuse your case with another case, and on and on and on.

Hi everyone, I just received both text and email alerts stating that my application has been received and routed to the USCIS NBC for processing. WOOHOO!
I am EXTREMELY relieved because as you may or may not know, I got sent back my application about 2 weeks ago because they stated I sent the wrong filing fee. When in fact, they just didn't open the clearly labelled envelope with the I-485 filing fee in it .... -___-
Waiting game ensues
