They said yes. They're going to let me in.
I had my interview in Vancouver this morning and all went well. There was a whole lot of standing, sitting and waiting for an interview that lasted less than 10 minutes.
Chip comes up Saturday, we pack the U-Haul on Sunday and I'm U.S.-bound on Monday. Thanks to everyone on this site who helped answering questions or started topics that I hadn't thought of. I'm sure I'll see you all again through the AOS process.
I ran into bfulton at the medical and the consulate. I hope everything was easy for him. His fiancee, whom I met at the consulate, is a very lovely lady.

I don't know how well you know him.
You might want to spend a $100 to run a full background check on him
from an online and see what else may shows up for both your protection
    and for USCIS filing.
    Good luck.

thatangela reacted to Laurka in It's not meant to be rude. Just a general observation.
I'm not starting this topic to offend anybody or to start a beef just for the beef sake. After several months of being on this very helpful forum (it's a life saver in many cases! ), I have this general observation that people do not even bother to read instructions and guides. It seems they don't even bother to use a search engine to look for answers to their questions, but just bluntly create a new topic to ask their question that has been asked 3 to 5 times the very same day. Sometimes there are several topics one under the other(s) about the same thing. It makes the forum bigger and bigger mess every day.
I know this process is long, exhausting and above all confusing at many points. It really is and also has been for me. I always try to help whenever I'm logged in and I'm able to help (when I know how), because this is the main purpose of the forum -- to help and support each other. But even earlier today I read posts in a topic from more experienced forum members that the question about Texas lockobx and Texas Sevice Center comes up way too often and perhaps should be pinned somewhere to be visible. When I browse through the K1 forum, I see more and more replies that are only like "Read the guides" or "Follow this link", because these are basic questions!
It's all there in the Guides, in the Downloads, on the Visa FAQs etc. My plead for new users especially is to first research and read, and then if your question/issue is still not answered or it's very specific to formulate a question on the forum.
I wish you all a good day and above all as smooth visa journey as possible!

Three months later my case is at NVC. I may have shed some happy tears. No case number yet. This new NVC phone system is so slow.

I hope this is the most difficult part for everyone else. On the bright side, after waiting almost 90 days for my case number, I had my interview this morning.
I pack this weekend and leave on Monday.
Stay strong, you guys, and don't give up. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Someone just has to replace the dimbulbs at CIS.

    No.
He got his NOA-2 in September. It was not sent to NVC for processing. The November date you are referencing is the day he emailed his Congress person for help.
When he says K1 visas are processed quicker at NVC, he's right. Once your case gets to NVC, it typically is processed in a few days, then sent to your embassy. Other visas stay at NVC for months of processing.

Like most "news" it really isn't. Mostly it is just misinformation and part truths meant to get people worked up about something they don't inderstand so that the politicians can get their names in the paper and the media can sell advertising space.
Everyone knew this initiative went live Jan 1. It was well publicized. For 99.99% of the Canadian population this change is meaningless.
The information in the article about taxes is not correct. Boston-Montreal has it right, except that in addition to those IRS rules there is a Canada / US tax treaty which also applies which further reduces the likelihood of any problem.

this is clearly the best advise I have for all that are still waiting. Emailing uscis, nvc and getting my senator and congressman didn't help me one bit. After putting in 2 service request expedited that's what got the ball rolling for me

Yeah, I think it was just something wrong with their phone system. Got through a moment ago. Have a case # now. Such a relief.

I had started writing a very detailed list and when I got to like, my 5th page of items I thought about how ridiculous it was. I scrapped it and wrote a more generalized list (so like saying Kitchen appliances instead of listing "coffee maker, skillet, ice cream maker," etc etc)

When we got to the border, we crossed at the peace bridge (completely by accident, we missed the exit off the highway to the border we MEANT to cross at) the border guard asked my fiance to open the uhaul and he took a very quick look inside of it and that was it. He was pretty stern and kept trying to trip us up, but never asked to see a list of everything we had. He directed us to go into the building to process my visa and no one in there asked what I was bringing with me. They were too busy processing all of the paperwork.

I think the OP also has a problem with the fact NONE of his family knew they were even engaged. I'm not sure what "properly" engaged means, but I assume it means he gave her some hardware for her ring finger?
However I agree, a courthouse wedding is not a pretend wedding and the OP and her fiancé have different ideas about what they want for a wedding. Getting married and being married are two different things. If the first one matters more than the other, then maybe this isn't the person for you.

What you should keep in mind is that although the typhoon hit late 2013, the Philippines will more than likely still be feeling the negative economical fallout. Take comfort in the fact that we at least have somewhere comfortable and safe to wait - unfortunately, some people don't.It may be hard to stay positive and you may even feel like the process can be unfair, especially when those that filed after you are approved before you. As a fellow Brit, when I get down over things like this, I remind myself that I do not have a divine right to a green card - it is a privilege that I am being considered for and therefore however long it takes until I reach POE is just how long it takes.
Please don't take any of that the wrong way; I've been through the same range of emotions (at one point, I even felt angry about the K1 process being much faster than the CR-1 process, but that's before I gauged the positive and negatives of each visa type) and it took me a while to reach the above conclusion - I felt a lot better when I did. Good luck to you. We'll all look back on this period of our lives one day and laugh.

When physical abuse is present please folks don't ever advise a victim of physical abuse to "work things out, to try to talk with the husband about it", the victim can do that AWAY from the abuser, after the abuser attended MINIMUM 6 months of anger management classes, at least one year of counseling.
I give conferences all over this Country regarding domestic violence to psychologists, counselors, social workers and shelters and the first think I tell them is" DO NOT ADVISE A VICTIM OF DOMESTIC ABUSE TO STAY IN THE SAME HOUSE WITH THE ABUSER, TELL THE VICTIM TO GET OUT IMMEDIATELY, AND TO SEEK HELP".
My dear get out now! go to the police, then go to a shelter for victims of domestic violence. Abuse is a choice, he chose to abuse you. You can't change him,you can't change the situation, but you can remove yourself of being abuse.Abuse is about control and power.Your life is worth it,please seek immediately help with the police and with a counselor. You need to learn how to regain your self esteem and self respect, because you lost yourself due the abuse.

    None. Nada. Zero. Zip. Zilch.
She's in America now and she can do whatever the hell she wants as far as her career goes. He cannot force her to stay at home and not have a job. And it's really cruddy of him to change his mind about her career expectations now that she's here.

A Filipina here and I must say thank you to those who does not really generalized every filipina And I must say that same thing should be applied with russians or any other women in every part of the world.
But given the information that the poster said, I must say that both of them have a doubt with the relationship already. I mean the man feeling a bit disconnected because of the distance and the girl feeling scared of the move.
The best to do is to confront the current situation and be brave enough of the truth that will come out.
Still you're best discretion will come from you. Forget about how much money you spent already... just ask your self if you have enough love to keep on keeping on or let it go. You know both not giving up and letting go needs love
