That is so awful I don't really know what to say other than I wish you all the best and that things will hopefully resume at some point. One thing I have learnt through my 18 month process (just waiting for visa to arrive now....taken 3 months) is that the American government is unemotional, uncaring and terribly run. He shouldn't even marry now. He needs to get the proxy marriage corrected. The easiest way may involve returning home and divorcing there , then he can worry about marriage to the US person. Your friend has a bad habit a using women for his own personal gain. I am sure he did the proxy marriage for some advantage ( like to say he was married on the tourist visa ) and if he tries to explain he lied on the tourist visa he may face a lifetime ban and never be able to come to the US again, How long has he been in the US ? getting married in the 6 months allowed on a tourist visa is very fishy

I can only guess based on what you posted here. I am not a mind reader, which is why I was asking if he wants to marry a US citizen to stay in the US and file for adjustment of status. Is that his plan or not?
He cannot marry someone else without legally terminating his first marriage. If his first marriage was not registered anywhere, then it does not seem he was legally married to begin with and obviously the marriage was not consummated if he never saw her in person. His issue with filing for AOS might be that his tourist visa application status stated he was married, so turning around and telling the USCIS that he was never actually married would be a bad idea. He would need to find a way to show he terminated/annulled the first marriage. Perhaps consult with an immigration attorney or two about the best way to deal with his predicament.

Sounds like a gold digger my man. I have been with my fiancee for 3 years now, I have met her parents several times. We have discussed our wedding regularly and she has never mentioned a bride price or once asked me for money. That is crazy, I would seriously rethink your relationship, you don't deserve to be taken advantage of.

It'll become fraud if you conceal any material facts in the process to get a green card. However, if you're honest and explain the situation to immigration just as it is they'll have the discretion to decide your case... Immigration for the most part is about being honest...

I totally agree with you and share your frustration. I lived in US for 14 years and paid taxes every year! And now person that didn't pay a dime to Taxes is completely legal like I am. What the heck is that. Regarding NVC process mail your Senator. Let them know. It will take you 20 min. I just really want NVC to be KICKED IN THE ### SO HARD THAT IT HURTS THEM FOR A LONGGGG TIME. I want them to realize that US Citizens are the power and that we pay their damn bills.
