1) Yes.
2) Yes. SSN is not required to file for AOS. As long as you have a copy of your certified marriage certificate from the court, then you can go ahead and fill out all the forms and file.
3) They might go ahead and give you your SSN in your new married name, if you are changing your name, Most of the time though it is easier to apply for the SSN in your maiden name and change it later when you have the green card in your married name.

I thought I would write this up as I was successful in expediting my EAD.
Called USCIS on 1-800-375-5283 on 4 September.
Said 'I would like to expedite my EAD because I have been offered a job and cannot take it up until I have the right to work in the US'
I was given a list of reasons as to why my expedited EAD may be considered. These reasons are:
Severe financial loss to company or individual Extreme emergent situation Humanitarian situation Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government) USCIS error Compelling interest of USCIS I selected 'severe financial loss'. I said that I had been unable to work due to waiting for the K1 process to finish - I was made redundant. I said that whether this could be consider severe or not was open to opinion.
The person at USCIS then read back to me what she had typed up and told me that someone would be in contact with 5 working days. She gave me a reference number for my request. She said there was no guarantee that my request would be granted.
On 9 September I received a letter from USCIS requesting that I fax them proof of my job offer, together with a reference number and also to fax their letter. I did that the same afternoon and also included the state exam and license I had taken in order to get the job offer. I also included a cover letter.
On 10 September I received an e-mail to tell me that my status had changed to 'card production' for my EAD. My AP was updated about 2 hours later.
I thought I would write this up as I've noticed a couple people saying that they've managed to expedite their EAD because of a job offer but did not explain how they did it.

1 - no you can't work until you have your EAD through but don't allow that to stop you applying for jobs. If you are offered a job and can REQUEST that your EAD be expedited. 2- I don't know. The job market is very competitive over here at the moment. I would suggest overhauling your resume to ensure it is in a format familiar to US recruiters. You can pay to have that done by someone like this - http://jobsearch.about.com/od/resumetips/a/resumeservice.htm or Google 'Resume Template'. I found going to job fairs useful. I got a lead for a job there in a field I had no ambition to move into.

Nope, you can't work--you need the EAD----thus why many go the CR-1 route, yes it takes longer, bu tone is able to work right away---not the case with the K1

That wasn't the question. There is no need to update the medical unless they don't plan to leave until after it's expired

1 - No, you cannot work. You will need an EAD.
2 - Depends on where you live, your experience and skills, etc. Start making connections in your field, read books and articles online about how to write job applications in America, and just keep applying, applying, applying. Good luck

My husband was under Manatory AP.I called DOS and asked them was there different Adminstrative Prossessing They said No it's all the same.

AP with 221g can mean that you still need to provide information or paperwork for final approval. AP means administrative processing - the time it takes to finalize your paperwork, approval and issue visa. 221g means that you have a denial.

It's been a long Journey....Been almost 2 years since I petitioned my husband and we finally are done with AP. Praying you have a short AP......

a friend of mine didn't get updated much and his visa was issued Nov 7th he is also from Egypt

you have to wait Ahmad, nothing can be done during the AP period, praying for you it finishes as soon as possible

Hello! first of all Congratulations for you ... second you cant renew the TP test without the passport ... let him go and renew it and send it ASAP to the embassy with his passport and Police clearance. waiting for another few days no problem if he will get the passport back with his visa ... congratulations again and good luck in-sha-allah

Hello, and Congrats on completing your interview. It's normal that the ceac website says admin processing right after the interview. All cases go through AP. But if it stays like that longer than a week or so, then it's the other dreaded long AP wait. But inshAllah yours won't be too long. Alhamdulelah my fiance's was only about 5 months and then we got the visa about 3 weeks after it was over. Good luck!

"Quick" relative to AP is probably anything under 3 months. And I think if the passport was kept its a good sign nothing has showed up in any of the electronic databases which is also a good indication. In cases where there is a "hit" they usually return the passport and AP takes longer until they sort out the security issues from the "hit".

Usually keeping the passport is a good sign. Sometimes they say AP but they just mean there is something that has to happen before you get your visa (like them going through your documents). AP is a specific thing for background checks, etc. but it can also be used as a catchall term which it seems the case here.

as i know if you are under AP, they should give you a paper says that you are under AP and they will explain in to you as what is it, and if they didn't give you a paper this means in like 2 weeks and you will get your visa

hi everybody , don`t care about the schedule on the website .. iam not on the schedule but the embassy called me yesterday and give me inteview date at October 7th .. i sent packet 3 back on May 28th so it seems like it take 4 month.. good luck everyone

that's true ... the problem is .. why specially the K1 visas is not much at the interview table on the embassy website ? in August it was 16 k1 visas interviews and in September was 8 k1 interviews only .. and October k1 interviews only one ... that's drive me crazy

I am so tired of waiting for an interview. and when i finally get it, i will start worrying about the AP process...

There is no consistent schedule for when they update the interview schedule. I would give them a few more days to update it because the embassy was closed yesterday due to the Labor Day holiday and should have been open today. My suggestion would be to check the website on Friday and hopefully the schedule will be posted by then.

I wasn't aware that hey had re-opened, that is great news. I don't have an answer to your question, other than perhaps you can check back tomorrow after the long holiday weekend. Between the long holiday weekend, and the fact that I am sure they are trying to do catch up from when it was closed for a few weeks, I am sure they are behind. Good luck!!!

great question OP.....im wondering the same.....dhl delivered my packet 3 to the embassy on july 16th and we have not heard anything from the embassy about an interview date yet
there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how fast someone gets interview date....i went to the schedule list and started plugging in case numbers in the status check site that had interviews for k1 for the month of august.....it was all over the place....some updates were 1 month prior to interview and some up to 1 year but the average seemed to be 5 months.....but knows what the last updated date means.....right now mine says; created april 30th...updated july 18th
its so frustrating not having any answers.....just the big great unknown

I don't think the status will updated on CEAC until after the interview.
From experience, you will drive yourself crazy looking at the updated date because it appears to be random and does not really mean anything specific.
It is best to look at the interview schedule posted on http://egypt.usembassy.gov/consular/iv8.html and search for your case to see if the interview has been scheduled by the embassy yet.
