Hagrid got a reaction from KidSeventySeven in May 2021 - AOS Filers
yay!!!! Congrats!!!
Be well prepared! bring newest year tax returns (1040 with all schedules, w2s etc)
And all the docs listed on the interview notice.
For my case, they asked me for my birth certificate with translation during the interview in order to approve.
Also update: My parent's Green card is arriving today in the mail

Repeat with me: I need to stop using VJ before my morning coffee. I was just thinking about it now.

You can go online and use "ask Emma" to request expedited EAD. Request must be for a valid reason (financial hardship) is the most common.
Then it's a waiting game to see if it's approved or not. Some are getting AOS approval's before they get combo cards.
It never hurts to ask. If you don't ask... the answer is always, no.

You can enroll in health insurance without a SSN.
I enrolled my parent with no SSN (their own plan). Also my newborn 🌞

You don't have to do it. Maybe they told you that because it's easy here. But not in foreign countries hehe.
It's a hassle. Because then in your home country you have to change your legal name there for everything else, it's painful!

That is so fast!!! I am waiting on biometrics.
I've read on redddit that many people are reporting that "interview ready to be scheduled" changes to "scheduled" within a month.
Fingers crossed you will get an update by August 20th!

Most likely Tax or birth certificate translation, did you send 1040, w2s for tax year 2020?
Mine was tax year 2020, I didn't send that as I had not filed taxes yet and the deadline had not passed yet when I sent the AOS package. So my RFIE is that!
I got it all ready but I haven't sent it yet because I am double verifying everything. I learned that 864 requires the `total income` and not the `adjusted gross income` when using I-864 from the RFIE letter
From the instructions:
"For purposes of this affidavit, the line for Total Income on IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered when determining income. For persons filing IRS Form 1040 EZ, the line for adjusted gross income will be considered."
I think I used the adjusted gross income hehe another mistake.

As a K1 immigrant myself (a long time ago), I can see that the k1s AOS tend to take longer vs the i130 for parent (my current case).
I think the marriage verification docs and evidence requires extra time / processing on both sides.

Got update this morning on I-485: "Request for Initial Evidence Was Sent"
Just a wild guess, but I think it is because my i-864 included tax years 2017, 2018, 2019 as I had not filed 2020 when I sent AOS docs as the deadline was weeks after I sent the AOS package.
At least though someone looked over the file. I will post once I get the letter in the mail with the RFIE details.

I just got the receipt numbers in 6 text messages. 2 for each form (I-485 I-131 and I-765). National Benefits Center. (see my signature for timelines).
Fingerprint fee received on May 25th (yesterday).
Check hasn't cashed yet but I bet bank will clear tomorrow.

Our AOS documents were delivered today at the Chicago lockbox. Now, hopefully by 2024 an interview will be obtained.

I still wonder how people file i90 instead of i 751 when they explain this multiple times during the process. I was told 2 times throughout process that i 751 needs to be filed before 90 days of expiration of gc. Recently went for i 551 stamp in passport, officer again explained i751 again. This is just ignorance. Hope OP will get resolved this.

Not that the OP is trying to bypass anything, not saying that myself; but these are reasons I personally can't stand any AOS from inside the US from like tourist visas and such. It's just a way to bypass the longer process where you may not have even qualified... and it is highly annoying.

I had my interview yesterday. Everything went very well. At the end the official gave me the notice telling me that "A decision cannot be made." I asked when I would get back from them and she told me that I should hear from them in about 120 day but if my file was OK I would get an answer sooner. Today I got an update from USCIS telling me that my Oath Ceremony is schedule. I'll update my information once I get the letter in my mail.
Cheers.

1 year sounds about right, average, in general. Application volume went up a lot after the elections.
My own application will complete a year from filing to interview date in few weeks.
Check the processing times here. For Jacksonville FL, as of November 30th they were processing application of March 16, 2017. That was over 2 months ago, so my guess is they are processing application of May, I'd estimate 10 months, could be less, could be more.
I've heard that if you apply online, the processing is faster. I saw a guy here on vj who took him 45 days from filing to oath last year. Definitively, file online here https://www.uscis.gov/file-online
Travelling is fine with the pending application. The only problem would be as you mention, December comes and the interview is scheduled just right then. Should that happen, you can just write back with the notice and ask for a new interview appointment. Not ideal but it's the option they give.
It is annoying to plan that ahead though, I myself couldn't plan my vacations ahead of time due to the same reason. Being in your shoes, I'd recommend you to file now and don't plan the vacation right now, maybe plan on getting tickets in august (still 3 months before your trip)... that will give you a better sense on how fast they are moving and who knows maybe the online application will be processed faster and you will be a citizen by then.
Worst case, you just change the appointment date if you happen to be out of the country at that time. Anyways when you come back you'd come back to the interview.

@Hagrid @Angel19 I am a SF filer. Send N-400 on 2/28/17 and have Oath on 11/9/17, that’s 254 days. I think you are still well within normal processing times. Just be patient, your day will come.
