Only way to move over is to merge accounts. Let me know if you want to try or keep the accounts separate :).
-
It depends on if you want to merge them. I don't know if this will fix it or create the same issue TBH. You call... we can merge and see what happens or just start fresh with a new account. Thoughts?

hello it's me, cocoVA
with this new account I'm able to see the forums again. now I have two
I can attempt to merge the accounts or maybe just update your info in the new account to be safe? I'll upgrade your account to the full member status right now.
I can also migrate your old username to the new one if you want.
-
Yes, soo strange. Can you try making a second account to see if that fixes it?
-
Yes this is soo strange. I want to help. What about phone vs desktop/laptop? I'm trying to gather more info to help debug since this appears to just be ion your account.
What browsers?

I chimed in in that thread about the 60-day limit for NOA2 to NVC Received. I understand it was now raised to 120 days but most users won't really go back to fix their timelines now, so I think this skewed numbers down, not making it accurate. Right now it's back to around 40 days to get received.
I understand the cap was to prevent user mistakes, but unfortunately, in this case, it made the timelines inaccurate due to the unforeseen delays in USCIS -> NVC process. Maybe more attention could've been paid to the K1 timelines. Not all users know how to contact support or even that there was a cap (the timeline only showed errors).
Another inaccuracy I see is in the NVC processing. If you look at March 2022, you'll see a peak at 200 days for NVC processing. It's not true and a few timelines are pushing the numbers up due to user mistake (at least I assume it's a user mistake on selecting the year). Examples below:
https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=366778
https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=401191
https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=365994
More could be done to help users update their timelines. Sometimes it's hard for people to find it and accurately update it, especially if they're mobile users. If VJ wants to use 100% user-generated info for their stats (instead of colaborating with people pulling info from receipt numbers), then this has to be a priotity.I too a look at these timelines. Which entries seem wrong -- happy to help? On the whole they seem right but could be outliers in terms of extended processing times. We do outlier removal in our estimates, graphs, etc...

Can you try creating a new account? Don’t delete the old one. Let us know.
Have you tried logging in with an incognito / private tab?

Hi all! Is there anything we could do to provide better stats to help you. Some trends here relevant to the topic:

Where is the topic suspension feature?
It's available to mods only. But if you are blocked from a topic then you would get an alert with the notice and be told why and how long it was in effect for.

FYI, we've implemented two new moderation features to prevent ban's from being the 'first' official moderation tool used by mods when there is trouble.
Previously, the moderation actions were as follows (lot's of caveats, so the general case):
1) Warning in the topic on in certain cases PM (perhaps not always seen by the poster)
2) Official mod action (suspension from site of TBD length)
New:
1) Warning in the topic on in certain cases PM
2) [New] "Alert" message to the user from a mod with a verbal request to change whatever the issue behavior is. This message is presented to the user and must be acknowledged before continued use of the site (a simple "ok" will dismiss it). There is an option reply to the moderator if desired but this is optional.
3) [New] We've added a topic suspension feature (short term or permanent) that can be used to block members from a single topic versus the entire site.
4) Suspension (full site)
I think this will help reduce heavier handed moderation and be a net positive for the site :). Happy to discuss if there are questions.

I don't get the error when I'm browsing/viewing as a guest. As soon as I log in I do get the error still.
anyone else? -
Which do you prefer (google powered or the default mobile search -- label advanced search on the desktop view).
-
Do you see this when logged out and viewing as a guest? Can you provide the following so we can try to reproduce?
- Computer (mac/windows) and version of OS
- Browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc.) and version
- Can you reproduce if logged in?
- Can you reproduce if logged out?
- Can you record a video and post it here?
Thanks!

Yes, I agree. I think I’ve brought it up before too, the mobile search is completely off. I’ve had luck with desktop browser search on VJ, that helped me immensely when I was looking for answers.
What differences do you see on mobile vs desktop search?
Do people use the Google powered search or "advanced" internal search more?
-
If you are tech savvy the TL;DR is on mobile click "add to homepage" from the browser menu (works in safari and I believe chrome). Then open the mobile app and go to your VJ settings screen and enable push notifications as you desire and those will start arriving automatically. . Details and maybe YT video in the near future.

Great, will post details shortly :).

I’m seeing a lot of opportunities here . Will need to unpack some items a bit more but one that seems hopefully addressable now is the foreign language question.
The root of the current policy was three fold:
1) Mods can’t often read other languages so moderation had become extremely hard in some topics and posts. Members were hiding TOS violations by talking in non-English languages.
2) Members had trouble communicating with posters when there was mixed language. It isolated people.
3) Spammers have gotten creative and sign up and post seemingly innocent things in a foreign language but it is simply spam. I’ve even seen spammers post links to seemingly VJ content but then hide a different url behind it to deceptively route people to other sites (def a no no for that deception).
While well intentioned perhaps we could put together a brief FAQ on this policy and have a mod function to reply with that FAQ and resources members can use to translate their posts to English. Also, we should be understanding that no one will be perfect on this policy — as long as they are trying that is what matters.
Thoughts?

The replies I am refering to are not misreading tone, using your imagery does not change things. My culture is very blunt and to the point, I know comments like that can be misread, I'm not mixing them. This is in reference to 100% rude and unhelpful commentary and pile ons.
I hear numerous members with these complaints and see many OPs nope out if a thread or say they're not appreciating rude ess only for the rude person to double down
If mods want to sweep it under rug of 'theyre just busy/blunt' then enjoy losing members you could have kept
Just wanted to quickly chime in and say THANK YOU to everyone who has expressed an opinion here :)! @meladee @Rocio0010 @Boiler @Vashezzo @Redro and many others! To address one question above -- if you are EVER uncomfortable reporting to talking to a mod for any reason just PM me or email me at admin at visajourney! I'm here to help but do not actively check the forums so request that you reach out whenever you need to chat.
Broadly speaking, I'm excited for this thread and to address concerns from the OP @AndiB :). I'm hoping to talk about larger ways to improve the site, atmosphere and moderation "at scale" (meaning changes that last and address these concerns in general). Constructive and actionable ideas are being listened to! I've already talked to the mod team about so actions and processes we can improve on, but that's just a small part of the formula! Hopefully we can constructively to work together and "build up" with a balanced set of changes to drive real improvements where there may be rough edges now :).

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone would like to help test our native PWA (mobile app) supported by Android and iOS. It will allow you to have an app icon on your home screen and receive push notifications for alerts to your phone — even when you don’t have VJ open on a browser window/tab.
Let me know and I can walk you through enabling to test!

I feel like attitude in answers have been getting worse or maybe I just notice it more. People piling on OP for misspeaking, ESL errors, minor mistakes about a process and being stressed/nervous. This is supposed to be somewhere to get support, yes people may need to be corrected or get clarity but surely we can do it without being rude? People are quick to say 'i'm out' and 'your immigration journey is over' or some version of you ###### up so bad which is not helpful and generally hyperbole which does not help.I'm a blunt person but there's being blunt and there's being plain rude. If a post or question annoys you, maybe just move on instead of leaving a rude response or piling on. People come here for help and support and they should feel safe to do so, not get attacked.
This should never be happening and if there is a negative trend -- let's fix it together. Tag me in line and i'll jump in. Grammar, learning curves, etc... should NEVER be a negative! We are a family here.

Hi, yes let's get that fixed :).
First what browser are you using? Can you try a few things please...
1) Try using incognito mode in Chrome (or private mode in Safari). Log in and do you see this?
2) Clear all cookies in your normal browser. Close the browser and open it up again. Do you see the issue?
Thanks!

Just seconding Sarah's post. It is the "Date Package Received By NVC" box.
Thank you Capt!!!!!
How are you getting the receipt date (just want to ensure I'm aligned) versus the "approved date"? 60 days to mail it there is a long time. Are you using a later notice date for them (or is there no indication of received date until a later activity occurs)?
-
So which is the issue? The time to ship it from the SC to the NVC or processing time at the NVC?

Hi there!
Firstly -- GREAT suggestions! Would having a search option to show only reviews with content (not rating only) as the default help?
