Sending Money To Philippines

I used to go to one of our local LBC branches to send for years.

Good exchange rate - High Fee - Inconvenient (have to go to the branch)

Through advice from several members here I switched to Remitly.

Not the greatest exchange rate - No fee if bank account to bank account- Convenient (app is very user friendly and their customer support is great)

In June 2020 (also from advice from members here) I started using Western Union.

Good exchange rate (usually about 1 peso higher than Remitly) - No fee if bank account to bank account - Convenient (app is not as easy as Remitly but works fine)

Both Remitly and WU take about a week for the no fee acct > acct transfer however after about 4 months of transferring through WU the speed has changed. My last 6 (or more) transactions have all been in her bank account next day.

I send about every 2 weeks and at least 1k USD a month, so in 6 months my wife gets over 6k more pesos now that I use WU. To me that adds up and I am happy I switched. As a bonus Remitly noticed I had stopped using them and added 20USD to my account free for my next transfer, so I sent 100USD to mu wife with Remitly to take advantage of that

I just wanted to share in case anyone was interested.

Question regarding I-864

Good day! I just want to ask a question about I-864. I have an interview on January 21, then upon checking the documents I needed to bring with me, I noticed that my husband's affidavit of support is already expired. So he downloded the new form thru USCIS site, but we are having a little debate what name he should put there; whether my maiden or my married name.

He filed I-130 under my maiden name but during NVC stage, I used my married name since that's what I used now in my passport. NVC approved it and changed my name from maiden to married. In the first AOS he submitted, he put my maiden name. My question is, what should he put on the new AOS, my maiden again or my married name? Thank you!!

Hi everyone. I have a question soo since we completed our ds160 and sent many emails to request for an interview we got this feedback "Escalated to Post" for 7mos. My ceac was updated Jan 11, 2021 i didnt check it but Jan 12 i did open and see it was updated. And now i check the CGI then the "feedback" is like this (2nd pic).

It's not really a big deal because i have no idea why it says like that and idk what it mean.

My question is, is that normal? Im a little bit surprise tho.

Thank you.

New way to extend an expiring green card — and it’s easier and faster than ever

There s a new way to extend an expiring green card and it s easier and faster than ever

https://www.yahoo.com/news/way-extend-expiring-green-card-194457067.html

"....USCIS replaces sticker that extends green cards

Permanent residents whose green cards are about to expire or have expired must file Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card either on paper or online.

USCIS has traditionally issued a sticker that people have to attach to their cards.

But the agency s Office of Intake and Document Production that produces identity documents such as green cards and work permits faces significant delays as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, an increase in filings and current Postal Service volume, USCIS stated last week.

Starting this month, instead of a sticker, the immigration agency will issue a revised Form I-797, Notice of Action, which will serve as a receipt notice for the Form I-90.

When presented together with the green card, the revised Form I-797 notice will extend the green card s validity for 12 months from the date on the front of the green card and will serve as temporary proof of the LPR s status, USCIS explained. LPR stands for lawful permanent resident.

Immigrants filing Form I-90 can expect to receive the new revised form approximately seven to 10 days after it is accepted by the agency, USCIS said.

Immigrants can lose their green cards and face deportation if they make these mistakes

No need for biometrics appointments

Getting temporary evidence of permanent resident status in 10 days is much better than a sticker, because immigrants no longer have to make a biometric services appointment at a local Application Support Center (ASC)...."

Good day! I hope you are all having a good start of the year.

I can't find a timeline/progress discussion for December 2020 filers so I created one.

I know it's too early to create a thread like this but seeing someone whose application is moving makes me hopeful and at peace.
