My Fil-Am partner and I are planning to apply for a K1 fiance visa this year and get married thereafter. However, I m at a loss as to when I should quit my current job. Currently, I m working full-time here in the Philippines. I m also the breadwinner of my family. Through my current employment, I m able to fund my parents and siblings. However, knowing that K1 visa and AOS applications may take a year or more, I m not sure when to resign should it be right after I receive my K1 visa? Or should it be after my AOS is granted? I read that I could travel outside of the US and return here after getting married pending AOS application as long as I get an approved Advanced Parole. Perhaps I could take a month and a half leave from work then return here while waiting for my green card. The problem with this scenario, though, is that an application for Advanced Parole takes months. I doubt my employer here would grant me paid leave for that long. Needless to say, I m afraid of losing a steady source of income and eating up all of our savings as I prepare to move to the US with my future spouse. I also wouldn t want to rely too much on my future spouse when it comes to financially providing for my family here in the Philippines. So I was wondering if there s anyone here who could give any insights or suggestions on when it would be advisable for me to resign from my job. What would you do if you were in my place? :) Thank you in advance for your time and responses.

So been waiting for an interview since July 2021. I contacted some lawyers to get my case expedited and paid them 1860. Two days later they told me that there was a 99% my case would fail and asked if I wanted a refund. I took the refund. The looked up the lawyers who did the Milligan vs Pompeo case and paid $150 today for a consultation. They told me that I can file a Mandamus case and most likely the government would just settle without a fight. This would cost $3500, which I was willing to pay. The problem is though if the government decides to fight it, I will HAVE to pay 10,000. I can't back out, I would be responsible for it. I haven't paid or signed any contracts yet. What do you think I should do?

I just received my case and invoice number this afternoon by the NVC. I was informed that my case is still at the NVC (of course it is). How soon should I complete the DS-160 application? Manila embassy is closed until further notice. Should I wait until they reopen to complete the DS-160? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Hello been a while since I last posted here, but I am hoping that someone might give me their opinions or give me suggestions. I've sold my property in the Philippines and i am having difficulty in transferring the funds here in the US. Asked someone and said via PayPal and remittance is way too expensive. Most of the bank in the Philippines required alot of docs which is we are able to produce but giving us the limitations how much you can only send every now and then, their reasons is the Anti-Money Laundering . So if anyone here has any suggestions please let us know. Anything will be much appreciated God bless to us

Two weeks ago I had my n400 interview, it lasted about 1 and 1/2 hr. I passed the civic, writing and reading. However when the officer asked questions about on my n400 application, about taxes if i have an overdue taxes i answered NO, my reason was because i am on a monthly payment plan of "certain amount " per month. I also file my taxes every yr. I provided 5 yr worth of Income tax return but the officer was not convinced and gave me an RFE ,requesting me to submit further evidence of my monthly payment recipt for my overdue state tax. The letter that the officer gave me, stated this "Please note it is your responsibility to show that you are current on your federal and state income taxes. Unless you establish an extenuating circumstance for why you failed to pay your taxes at the time they were due, you may be found to lack good moral character." The next day i decided to pay the whole full balance. Then I sent all the documents requested on rfe to uscis website with a cover letter explaining that the financial hardship was due to covid and unemployment of my spouse (USC) we entered into payment agreement tot ake care of taxes obligation and have been able to pay in full all our taxes due. My question is how long does it take to get a response from USCIS after i sent all the evidence to support RFE? Is there any chance that they could deny my application? Because of my overdue taxes eventhough i entered into a payment plan to tale care of the responsibility despite of covid? Thanks in advanced.
