US Immigration from Philippines

Hi, I applied for my mother's IR-5 Visa, and I got approved for an expedite. CEAC says it is Ready. I wondered if the embassy drops their schedule slots at a particular time or day, or is it randomly posted? Right now, I don't see any schedules available.

How many days or months did you receive your new Health Case Number (HCN) after you have requested it from SLEC?

I requested thru the SLEC site last year and also coordinated with US Embassy in Manila. They created a case and escalated it. My interview is set for next month. I also inquired with SLEC and this is what they said:

Please be informed that there is no definite date or time as to when the Health Case will become available since it is generated by the US Embassy. Once you requested your health case through our website our staff immediately sends the request to the US Embassy for them to generate the new health case.

We regularly update our Health Case inquiry tool once the US Embassy sends us list of newly generated health case to be uploaded in our website.

I was hoping that the US Embassy upon sending those Interview Letters also issue new HCNs for those for remedical since this is just too stressing.

We sent our I-751 yesterday with usps requiring a signature for delivery, is this okay?

Hello everyone, as the title indicates my daughters' IR-2 cases both show as Ready at the US Embassy in Manila. I created an USTRAVLEDOCS account for both to create a passport/visa return address. My question is can I also schedule an interview for them online through the same website? Or do I need for the Embassy/NVC to schedule it. From searching I have seen a mix of answers. I wanted to know what the prevailing opinion was.

Yet another tax filing status question!

Hi everyone, been scouring VJ for the past days but couldn't find the answer that applies to my situation. I'm the beneficiary, our AOS/EAD is pending and I don't have a SSN. I have an expired ITIN from when I was a grad student in GA, the last year I filed was for tax year 2017.

When my husband (USC) files for 2021 taxes by April 2022, should he file as:

1 - MFS, then we file an amended return once I get my SSN. Not sure if this is relevant, our PD for EAD was June 2021 but there has been no movement since my biometrics appointment in Aug 2021. Or:

2 - MFJ, before which I should renew my expired ITIN so we can file jointly. I'm not sure about this option since technically I have a pending application for SSN with my EAD. I haven't had any income since 2020, so we are thinking MFJ would be the best option.

Appreciate any advice and insights.
