Filipina friend divorce filed in Texas during NVC stage

So I have a Filipina friend, a friend of my wife, and so the friend is going through a divorce. She's been sent divorce papers, nearly 2 months ago. She is still in the Philippines and the marriage was aborted (divorce papers filed) during the NVC stage. The husband is a servicemember in the Armed Forces, and repeat infidelity was involved. The soldier was even demoted over it. But it is my understanding that under Texas Law, where the papers were filed, she is still entitled to 1/2 his pay after taxes as a dependent, during the time they were married, and she shouldn't sign any divorce papers until she has had a hearing in court. The remittance records over the last 2.5 years show paltry sums to support her and her daughter (who is not a daughter of the soldier, who is on his 3rd marriage). So my question is, how much of a case does she really have, and what is the best way to go about getting an attorney, and can she find an attorney to work for no money up front in Texas? She would like to just have enough money to pay a Filipino lawyer to recognize the divorce, and enough for the Agent fees to go work again in Korea, where she met him. I think if she presents a little resistance, she should be able to get a reasonable settlement. But maybe I'm wrong. I have little knowledge about these things, so I ask the community.

DQ for almost a year, no interview

Good evening everybody,

It's been a year since we received our welcome letter, we were documentarily qualified back in August 17, 2021 and we were just told that there is no available date yet for the visa interview. Our priority date is on December 24, 2002. From what I understood from the welcome letter, it states we should contact NVC for a year otherwise, no contact would lead to the entire process being terminated. Should I call NVC and tell them about our situation?

Hidden cost of processing a K1 Visa

Recently we were knocked backwards on the processing of our Adjustment of Status. As you are aware the initial cost for the processing of the AOS is $1225.00 USD. What is not as well known is the cost of processing the I-693, that document, which is seldom discussed here on VJ, proved to be very costly, We originally paid in excess of $450,00 for the first I-693, but to our surprise after our AOS interview we receive a poorly written RFE requiring that we submit a new I-693. This second I-693 cost over $850.00. Not only the money, but up to a 90 day delay in processing the AOS. All of this through no fault of our own. When you are wondering if a K-1 is for you, or a CR-I would work better you need to consider the cost and frustration of K-1 processing.

Does an RFE response generate a NOA?

Had an RFE for our Removal of Conditions, and sent the paperwork off right at the end of April. Does our reply to an RFE generate another NOA to say they definitely received the paperwork?

We had tracking on the package, but note that the city and state it was delivered to is different than the address. It's the Potomac office which is officially in Arlington, VA but the delivery receipt said it was delivering to Capitol Heights, Maryland. I know DC buildings can often have weird addresses, but UPS already complained about the address on the actual paperwork not existing, so I'm just trying to figure out how to verify that it definitely got into the right hands before the RFE deadline.

With a must be received deadline at the end of May, at what point should I be making extra effort to reach someone to verify they have our papers if we have no status updates or NOA? The USCIS website status shows that they sent us the RFE but currently shows no updates since then. And if I do need to reach out to someone to verify, where do I do that? The USCIS website seems to be designed to ensure there's no options to talk to them about anything but an address change until they're at least 60 days overdue on their processing estimates.

Redacting Sensitive Information on Printed Copies for Interview

Has anyone brought documents to the interview with redacted sensitive information? If so, did you have any issues with this? My joint-sponsor is not too comfortable with me making hardcopies of their documents, so they were thinking of redacting some info like SSN. The uploaded documents will not be redacted on CEAC, only the printed copies.
