Balikbayan box question

Hello everyone. Has anyone sent a balikbayan box to the Philippines recently? My wife and I are preparing to send our first balikbayan box to her family. At LBC, the lady said that we can have maximum 12 of each item. We have, for example, 15 bags of assorted chocolate (Snickers, Twix, etc). We also have 24 new Old Navy shirts of various styles and colors. Can we really only ship 12 of these bags of chocolate? Only 12 shirts?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.

*edit for the mods: I tried to post this in the Philippines area, but I couldn't figure it out. Could you please move it there?

Hello,

It seems like my spouse's visa has been approved based on the screen shot below:

I have a few questions:

  1. For those who went through the 221(g) process - did you receive all the additional documents you submitted back along with the stamped passport? I'm asking because we'll need some of these documents (e.g. CENOMAR, NBI Clearance) for the GCP Seminar
  2. How long did it take for you to receive your passport back? My spouse is Manila-based

Thanks!!

For those who have Global Entry , CBP has released a new mobile app that would allow you to just take a selfie and skip the kiosks all together.

What if I don’t pay taxes because my income is non-taxable?

I am at the tail end of the K-1 visa process. I have created a DS-134 for my fianc to submit at the interview with a letter of explanation. We will see how that goes.

i am a disabled veteran. I get monthly disability checks from the VA, and that money is non-taxable. I also receive SSI, and at tax time, my AGI is below taxable levels. So the IRS refuses to accept a tax return from me. So I have no tax transcripts for the last 5 years.

I wrote all this in a letter of explanation to accompany the DS-134, along with benefit letters from the VA and the SSA. I sent letters from the banks detailing my savings and the deposits into those accounts. I hope that will suffice for the K-1. My gross income is well above the required level for sponsorship.

My question comes because the AOS seems to be much stricter on the income requirements and I am just wondering if you folks have suggestions on the paperwork I should start gathering.

i am 62 years old and worked and paid taxes for over 45 years, just not in the last 5 years.

Thank you for your time.
