Criminal background check required while I lived with a student visa? (China/Chinese student visa)

My fiance is French, but he lived in China with his parents for several years with a student visa from the time he was 10 years old until he was 19 years old. He moved back to China when he was 21 years old with a visitor visa (S2) to visit family and he has been living in china for 2 years (including the multiple renewals).

Do you know if he is required to get documentation for a criminal background check from china even though he is not a Chinese citizen and has been on a visitor and student visa all these years?

If a criminal background check from China is required, where do you recommend to go? He lives in Shanghai. Thanks!!

STRATEGY - Submit additional documents or wait for RFE

Hi everyone,

I've been gathering lots of good information so far so thanks to all!

Unfortunately I discovered the site only after submitting my ROC package back in Jan 2019.

I've noticed that many people had included bank statements in theirs along with some other documents I do have but didn't include (car insurance) for e.g.

My question is then : Should I submit those evidence documents asap or wait for a potential RFE. I've read many theories (regarding potential delays) on submitting (or not) extra documentation?

Let me know what you think.

As a reference, in my package I included:

Birth Certificate of our 1 year old

Tax return 2016 and 2017 (only the 1040 form copy from our accountant)

Health care coverage showing joint policy

Flight tickets from last summer

around 20 family photos

2 support letters

I'll join the Jan 2019 fillers as well to share my timeline.

Thank you again!

F4 question

IT's a hypothetical question, but I really want to find the answer.

A US citizen filed I-130 for her foreign sister some years ago (F4 category) and for the sister's minor daughter (niece of US citizen). By the time the visa number is current, sibling's daughter (niece) will be able to come also as she is not aged out.

Suppose, the daughter (niece) is NOT married but with a child of her own by then.

Question: What will happen to the baby? Can it be brought to US also?

K-1 proof of meeting?

I ask the wise people of this Forum on behalf of my friend. He is a US citizen who lives in Arizona. He's been communicating for a few months with a lady from Mexico whom he found on a dating site. The two plan to meet for the first time in Nogales, Sonora (Mexico). My friend will drive himself to the border, cross the border on foot, spend a couple of hours with the lady in a bar or restaurant in Nogales, where they'll have a drink, chat, take photos of each other, then part their ways. After which (provided they liked each other in person) he plans to file for K-1/K-2 for her and her little child.

Question: What evidence of their personal meeting (apart from photos) can he submit to prove it happened within last 2 years? Obviously, there will be no boarding passes, hotel receipts, or things like that...

RFE for meeting in last 2 years: does this mean our lawyer messed up?

After waiting over 4 months since the first NOA for our K-1, I received an RFE asking for proof of meeting in last two years. I'm pretty surprised that this happened, because we hired an immigration lawyer to submit the application for us, and it seems to me that he should have included everything necessary so we could have avoided this kind of delay. He never asked us for anything but the dates of our last meetings and photos of us together. Does the RFE mean that he didn't do his job properly, or is this standard practice? Thanks.
