Bonafide Proof Submission Timing

I have a question about my spouse's interview & bonafide proof -
  • We dated for 3 years and got married in Jan-2020 and filed i130 in Feb-2020
  • We got our NVC approval back in Oct-2020 and waiting for an interview at Montreal, CA
When we filled our i130 we only submitted the documents which were minimum needed: we did out paperwork through a lawyer -- so did not submit any pics or proof of visiting my spouse (tickets) or anything else to that regards --- only bonafide proof we submitted at that time was join account opening letter, and my life insurance beneficiary declaration. We got our i130 approval and filled paperwork from NVC where we submitted again listed document as well, so again no pics, or anything. We have pics, flight tickets of our visits, gift receipt, affidavits from our friends and family, join account info, 401k & life insurance beneficiary which my spouse will be bringing to the Interview -- but as we did not submit any of these proof before - do we need to worry it? I have seen some posts where they had a similar case and they got 221g, so we are just worried.

Interview after approval?

Hi folks,

I'm in a bit of an odd situation here. I applied for I751 ROC way back in 2018, and while waiting I applied for citizenship in April 2020. In early April of this year (2021), I had my interview for my N400 at which they also approved my I751 (and sent me an approval letter saying I wouldn't get a Green Card because I'd be taking the oath and becoming a citizen soon), and I became a US citizen on April 28th and was sworn in by none other than Secretary Mayorkas. I've spent the last few months doing US citizen things: getting an enhanced drivers license, applying for a passport, registering to vote, voting, and just in general not thinking about USCIS. Fast forward to last week, I got an eNotification that my I751 had an interview scheduled, and on Friday I received a letter saying I had to appear for an I751 interview on July 24. This strikes me as a clerical error on the part of USCIS, since both cases were approved before and, having taken the oath, I am a citizen. I have already called the contact center and am waiting for a Tier 2 officer to call me back. I figure in a worst case scenario I'll take the approval letter and a copy of my naturalization certificate (naturally I just applied for a passport a couple of days before the notification, so no guarantee they'll have my citizenship evidence back by then) to my interview and they'll sort it out on site. Has this happened to anyone before? If so, how did you resolve it? Any other advice?

Thanks!

Consular Record of Birth Abroad

My husband is in the process of trying to get his IR-1 and green card. We are waiting for an appointment in Montreal for the interview. I just had a baby in Canada, but currently have her in the states with me.

My question: Can I file a consular record of birth abroad (CRBA) from the states, or does it have to be done in Canada?

Otherwise, what are my options for getting her USA passport and social security card?

So i sent an e-mail to embassy for expedited request and below is the response i received. I got DQ'd on Jan 16 2021 and case status says currently at NVC. But I got an e-mail from NVC when I got DQ'd that NVC will work with Montreal embassy to schedule an interview. I have also sent a req to expedite to NVC as well but I thought since I am DQ'd NVC is just a medium to schedule the interview. In this case, who can expedite interview process at embassy? Any suggestion? Any advise? Did I miss something?
************************************************** Thank you for contacting us.
The U.S. Consulate General in Montreal is processing new immigrant visa cases from the National Visa Center and is prioritizing Immediate Relative family members of U.S. citizens, including fianc (e)s, as well as other mission critical categories such as medical professionals. We will resume services for other categories as soon as practicable, according to the Department's tiered prioritization guidance: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/immigrant-visa-prioritization.html. While we aim to schedule and process cases as soon as practicable, there are increased wait times for completing services due to the ongoing pandemic and substantial backlogs.
The U.S. Consulate General in Montreal is currently only able to schedule a limited number of new immigrant visa appointments. We will continue to interview scheduled applicants at this time and will update applicants as the situation develops.
As this case is still at the National Visa Center (NVC), you will need to contact the NVC directly to submit a request for an expedited appointment. Expedited appointment processing is approved in only the most urgent cases. NVC contact details are available here https://nvc.state.gov/ask ********************************************

Unhelpful responses in forums

This website has been very helpful for alot of things. What has not been helpful, though, is the attitude of some of the people on here. So many responses I've seen are rude, condescending, and generally crappy/unhelpful. I'm not sure why you would go on this website if you're easily irritated by innocent questions, but the forums seem to be full of these types of people. It's getting frustrating coming on here to ask a simple question only to be met with negativity. Some folks do answer like a normal person, but for every kind response I get 2 rude ones. And they don't even answer the question! They just give a snippy critique on one thing you said while ignoring the rest of the post. It's just unnecessary.

On this website I've been told to chill out. I've been told that I'm overthinking and complicating a simple task (because immigration is known for being simple). I've had someone ignore my question and tell me I should've chosen a different visa if I didn't want the problems we're having (as if that's helpful 2 years in). And just generally have received many responses that ignore my actual post and imply that my questions are dumb, ridiculous, or beneath them. Are my posts laced with anxiety? Probably. Many of the posts on here are. I assumed that others would understand this having also been through immigration, but apparently not. If you can't handle people having different approaches, emotions, or knowledge than you do, then you really have no business coming on here to "answer" questions.

I don't know if people are bitter because the immigration process has run them ragged, but it's no excuse. We've all been through it and owe it to each other to be respectful. It's a difficult and vulnerable thing to go through. The least you can do is a) show some empathy, or b) if that's not your thing, just answer the question without putting a condescending spin on it to make yourself feel superior or whatever. If you find a question ridiculous or don't like how it's being asked, just don't answer. And definitely don't go out of your way to answer with some snarky opinion that nobody asked for. It's really not difficult.

I know that tone is easily lost over text, but this has happened enough that I'm certain I'm not imagining it. There are other websites, I know, but I've found this one to be the most thorough and informative. Yet every time I come on here to ask something, I dread having to read these types of responses. I'm sure nothing will come of this, but I just wanted to put this out there in case others have experienced this too.
