Hi there! I'm not really sure how to word this properly, or to seek the proper information so I was redirected here for assistance. I am a Canadian citizen & my partner is an American citizen. I have been accepted to a Bachelor's Degree program, it is my understanding that Canadian citizens do not *technically* need to get a visa to be a student, however, when you enter to attend school under an I-20 that you fall under F-1 status and follow F-1 status rules. Here is my question - if my partner and I were to get married, and I was to enter the USA under my F-1 Visa to complete my bachelor's program, BUT, I do NOT have the intent to stay in the U.S. longer than my program and will return to Canada to work and live after my first year- and we do NOT intend to start the CR-1 process until after I am done my educational program. Would that be allowed? I have heard mixed things. We spoke to an immigration attorney, who advised that we could get married and I could apply for an AOS under my F-1, however, this is not the route we would like to go as I do not have intent to live in America right off the get-go and do not want to risk messing up this process. Thank you for any advice you may be able to give.

I received an RFE for the I-864. I already used the search feature on this site to look for similar cases but I wanted to double check in case I'm misinterpreting something. I've attached a screenshot of the RFE. I'm confused about what it is asking for as we have provided everything in the original package except for the W-2 etc. It asks for the following: - completed and signed form I-864 (done) - sponsor's SSN on form I-864 (done) - complete and correctly calculated household size for the sponsor (total of 2, myself and my husband) - sponsor's Federal income tax return including all supporting tax docs etc. (we provided tax return transcripts of the most recent 3 years) Note: Applicants using a family member's visa petition to adjust status must be listed as a family member on the principal immigrant's Form I-184 I'm pretty confident the first 3 bullets are correct so I'm not sure why they were explicitly stated in this RFE. This is causing most of my confusion. We will provide the W-2s, 1099s, Form 2555 and tax schedules along with everything else stated in this RFE. But what does the "Note" line mean? I'm guessing this does not apply to us since I'm the only applicant? I'm very nervous about getting this wrong as I do not want to be denied.

Hello All, My wife (Canadian citizen) and I (US citizen) live in a suburb of Seattle, which is only about a 2.5 hour drive to the Canadian border. My wife is from Vancouver BC, and we completed her immigration to the US via K1 Visa/Marriage/ROC over the past 4 years....she currently holds her 10 year GC. We've considered moving to Langley BC in the next 3-4 years, with me going through whatever proper channels to immigrate to Canada. Was curious if any of the members here have any personal or 2nd hand experiences of a US citizen spouse immigrating to Canada, but continuing to work in the US. I understand we are in Covid times, but prior to the pandemic, has anyone here immigrated to a Canadian border city to live, but crossed the border to commute to work in-person for a US business? What were your inputs, thoughts, experiences? Thanks all in advance.

Hi all, has anyone gone through this? I went through the website and reported that the post office didn't deliver my card and they told me to fill out another application and the only instructions were to not mail it to the national benefits centre. Do I need to pay the fee again? Do I need to wait another 9 months? I'm so angry!! My grandmother is sick and I was hoping to make it home to say goodbye and I guess that's not going to happen.
