Hi there. Has anyone sent out DS160 and the checklist from packet 3 before physically receiving their police clearance back? We received our packet 3 instructions last Friday and I have the DS160 form completed, but I m not getting my police clearance don t until tomorrow (and I m guessing the results will be received in about 2weeks). Can I just go ahead and email Montreal visa center in advance? Thank you.

Hi everyone. My fianc and I are K1 filers. We should be getting our NOA2 any day now. I m Canadian and he s American. I have many friends and family telling us that we could ve gotten married and lived in the US without doing this whole process. However, I feel like we did the right and honest thing by choosing a method by the book . But I m curious, are people really able to use the visitor visa/visa waiver to get married and adjust status without leaving the US? Also, on a spousal visa how long are you able to visit/live with a spouse in the US at a time before getting your green card? I would love to be able to answer how different methods work compared to the k1. Thanks!!

Hi, I am having a pretty big headache right now for filing I130 for my wife. I have two questions and hope to get some answers online but so far no luck. I am hoping that your value experience can help me. 1, on page 7 of I130, part 4, beneficiary's entry information. My wife did entered US as F-1 before but currently she's in Canada. And for item 47 "passport number", which number should I put? She entered US with her old passport (A) and her old name but right now she has a new passport after changed her name, but this new passport (B) was never used for entering US. Should I put A on item 47 or B? 2, on page 8, item 57.a-f. Since she's from non-roman letter speaking country, I know that I need to put her native spelling for a to c. But currently she's residing in Canada as a worker (not PR), do I just ignore that part or put her home country address on it with native spelling? I know it's confusing but technically speaking, her current "permanent" address is Canada, right? Thank you so much for your help!!!

I used the services of a tax preparer (H&R Block) to file my taxes for 2021, and after we completed my federal tax return the advisor informed me that I didn't need to file state taxes because I was under the reporting threshold (New Jersey). For the sake of being thorough before filing my N400 (regarding part 12 question 7: "Have you EVER not filed a Federal, state or local tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident?") I decided to check on state tax filing requirements just to be certain that I'm in good standing -- and found out that according to the NJ Division of Taxation website that my income for 2021 was over the reporting threshold. It seems this means that I should have filed a State Tax return for 2021, and I'm assuming the best course of action is to make sure my State Taxes get filed before proceeding with my N400. I'm going to get in touch with the preparer/office today to find out how to amend this ASAP before filing my N400 -- but I'm really stressing out about how this could affect my application even if I manage to get it filed late. Will I be in trouble with USCIS/immigration for not filing State Taxes on time even though I was told that I didn't have to/shouldn't by a tax advisor? Also once I do get this situation resolved and/or file my state taxes, does that then mean I can select "No" as my response to N400 part 12 question 7 because I will have filed all possible tax returns - even if one is late? Thank you so much, I'm beside myself with concern right now!

Hi! I recently acquired my L1-B and have begun packing up my life and found a place to live for the next couple years. Coming in from Canada and travelling by car. I have 2 dogs and 4 cats I am going to be bringing down. All are up to date on vaccines and I have printed their vet paperwork and vaccine certificates. No health issues (one has FIV but nothing else). Does anyone know of anything additional I may need or should look to acquire for crossing the border with them? My land person is okay with the animals! Crossing at Fort Erie!
