What do we all think? Is this changing any time soon or should we all just imagine this is a forever thing?

Considering this is for immigrant benefit visas by the Dept of State and the Muslim Ban being upheld before. This can be active until Trump leaves office. IMO, buckle up it's gonna be a long ride.

I also think it's gonna be affecting K-1's as the Dept of State puts it under Immigrant Visa Categories listing. But I guess we'll find out.

I understand that. Thank you.

It’s just they have a pending IR5 (parent of US citizen) interview already. I’m wondering if we cancel that interview and focus on a visitor visa while we wait for the situation to resolve. They’ll come meet baby and leave (assume they have plenty of proof of life back home to come back to).

They have clear immigrant intent....

It only applies for IMMIGRANT visas. A tourist visa is NOT an immigrant visa.

Just FYI: They should only say they are planning to visit to meet their grandkid once is born. If they mention they are coming to help, they will get into trouble because it can be considered 'work' and many people get denied or turned back at the border for saying that.

Immigrant intent was established with the IR application.  Changing the visa category is not likely to convince the consulate otherwise.

And sadly will still find a way to say this was justified

Yup.  I fully expect to get censured/cancelled by writing that.  But, it's the truth, as ugly as it is.

Best wishes to you in your journey.  Ours is over and we had nothing but luck along the way.  Being from a wealthy, white country helped immensely, and we realize that not everyone is so lucky.

I am a proud US citizen and I did not vote for the shameful current administration.
