Thank you everyone for the congratulations. I have to say I am very happy and relieved.

Whilst waiting to be called through for my interview, several officers came through the door in fairly casual clothing and called people through in a very friendly relaxed manner. I was called through by my surname by a very stern suited officer. He did not put me at ease at all. He took my passport and studied it for a good while then made a comment as to why I had a cancelled visa in my passport. I had a tourist B2 visa 6 or 7 years ago which I used for my trips to the U.S. before applying for my IR1 spousal green card. At the interview for my green card a few years ago they took my passport, and cancelled the tourist visa before issuing the green card visa. It is absolutely correct and there is nothing wrong with that, and I totally wasn’t expecting this to be a problem. I got asked several questions about this before we could move on. This made me panic and I was very uncomfortable through out the remainder of the interview. It felt like the longest 20 minutes of my life. At the end of the interview when I was told I had passed the officer did manage a small smile. The  test was straight forward, I was asked the 12 questions and got them all correct. I guess for me I was so focused on that civics test that I wasn’t prepared for the adhoc questions.

Anyway, I was just unlucky I think, I had never heard of anyone else having a stern officer.

Thanks for the write up! I see you were asked the updated number of civics test questions, did you also bring anything extra regarding good moral character / have a clean record ? Was there any extra focus on that aspect at all that you noticed ?

Yes I had the 12 questions, I had a whole bundle of paperwork but all I was asked to produce was proof that I was still married and living with my husband. The main focus of my interview was that I was still married and actively together with my husband.
Unfortunately like many my status has changed from ‘ waiting in line for oath to be scheduled’ to ‘ we are still processing your case’. As my interview was before April 27th, I now have to wait to be re run through the new updated FBI database. I just hope that doesn’t take too long as I was almost there.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
