Hi, my spouse and I are compiling our i-130 package and was wondering if we had enough evidence to support our case. He is a USC, living in the states, and I am a Canadian citizen, living in Canada. We will be applying for consular processing.

  • Flights (boarding passes and email flight confirmations - 3 trips together and the rest are me visiting him in America). We now both live near the Canada-US border, so we drive to see each other
  • Hotel bookings, Airbnb receipts, car rental receipt
  • Financial documents:
    • Adding US spouse as a beneficiary to CAD spouse's TFSA, RRSP, and work life insurance
    • Adding CAD spouse as a beneficiary to US spouse's 401k and work life insurance
    • Authorized user on US spouse's credit card
  • PDF of our photos throughout 6 years with friends and family, trips taken together, and our wedding.

Is it necessary to include text messages or calls? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Other than the Marriage certificate, I think you are fine.

They may want to see one or two recent photos

Concur.  No need for chat history or examples in your case.

I'd personally over bombard them with evidence.  You do not have to innitially submit all the evidence with your petition though.

Once your petition is recieved, you can create an online account with USCIS and submit evidence at anytime while you wait for approval.

What I did was take about 4 screenshots of phone logs and messages a month that showed dates on them and I submitted them monthly until we were approved.  Every time we saw each other, I'd upload our flight itineraries and pictures of us together.

They want to see constant communication between the two of you during the process as well.

The CO doing my husband's interview specifically asked us "How many times have you visited each other since you've been married?"

We came to his interview highly prepared and with a three inch thick folder of evidence. The CO spent less time asking us questions than he did the other couples before us, his Visa was issued the very next day and we had his passport back via carrier two days after that.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.  Provide too much and they don't have time to look at any, or look at the less important stuff.  Better to concentrate on the primary evidence that is actually important.  This is from years of experienced.  (Been a member here 20 years now)  To rely on one person's experience tends to fall into the trap of coincidental correlation or "Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc", the most common logical fallacy trap for humans.

When I enter my details to get my travel history for i94, it says no travel record. But I do have the Canadian version for my travel history I could use. I cross by land at least once a month and I don’t get a passport stamp. I have the passport stamps for our international trip taken together.

Great, if it was me, I would include it ...

p.s. When I was traveling to Montreal to meet my Fiancée (she traveled there so we can meet often while waiting for the K-1),  I tried to get my travel history but Canada refused. Only Canadians can get it it appears.  But during her interview at the Manila embassy they noticed she had a Canadian visa to meet me ... and her interview was a quick breeze.
