The president-elect of the Oxford Union will face disciplinary proceedings for making “inappropriate remarks” celebrating the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, the union has announced on social media.

George Abaraonye, a student at the University of Oxford who became president-elect of the debating society after a vote in June, posted several comments in a WhatsApp group appearing to celebrate what happened, according to the Telegraph.

Ohh I could not repeat the comments as they are a clear breach of the ToC

Ahh well

Those fired, suspended or censured in recent days include teachers, firefighters, journalists, politicians, a Secret Service employee, a junior strategist at Nasdaq and a worker for a prominent NFL team.

Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary, has ordered staff “to find and identify military members, and any individual associated with the Pentagon, who have mocked or appeared to condone Charlie Kirk’s murder”, NBC News reported. It said several members of the military were relieved of their duties because of social media posts – and that “dozens” more, including civilian Pentagon employees, had been “called out on X”.

Office Depot's Propaganda Ploy:  Two 'Slacktivist' Employees Canceled a Charlie Kirk Memorial Rally Order

Some members of a freedom-focused group ordered posters for a 'Charlie Kirk Memorial' rally tonight.  They ordered them through 'Office Depot' online, paid for them and planned to pick them up in four hours.  Seemed like a great plan until they got there and two employees told them their order was not fulfilled.  Did the machines break down, perhaps?  Were they too busy to get to the order?  Nope!  Neither of those things.  These employees just decided the posters were, wait for it, propaganda.  As a result, they didn't print the order.  [...]

Office Depot sure reacted quickly and appropriately -- see apology partway into this short video:

A neighbor, speaking on condition of anonymity to The New York Post, reported seeing several people driving vehicles with out-of-state license plates entering and exiting the home approximately two weeks before the shooting.

“They did not give off a good vibe,” the neighbor said.

I wonder how many people on Social Media actually knew who Kirk was prior to this week

He started pooping up in my reels approximately 7 or 8 months ago. I had no idea how big a figure he was until this week.

I agreed with him on some issues and disagreed with him on others.  Being the MOR guy that's to be expected.
