OK my wife saw a story online, I am REALLY hoping it was clickbait...

My wife of 4 years is here in the US with me and we have been back to Cebu Philippines once already, sh has her Greencard so no problem the first time we traveled. She saw some story that there is a HIGH chance of Philippino US Greencard holders being denied entry back into the US when we return, we wanted to go in March 2026, anyone hearing of problems on this front?

There is nothing happening out there that indicates there is any validity to this story. There are the always-present factors that lead to inadmissibility (committing a crime, etc.) but not for simply being Filipino. And please trust me, as the husband of a Filipina who just got her green card and we are planning travel back to the PH around the same time as you guys, I am watching all things Immigration, CBP, etc. and I have seen nothing to suggest that what your wife read was anything other than scare-mongering clickbait.

Agreed.  Green card holders from any country are only denied entry for specific reasons.  Usually, it's for failing to maintain their permanent resident status.  See here for your  homework.

Lots of people trying to instill fear in legal immigrants with falsehoods and lies.  This just isn't true.  If this stuff was true, we would see it here on Visa Journey.  We haven't.

I think so far this year there has been a total of three Filipino green card holders who have been detained returning from trips to the Philippines.  All had previous criminal convictions in the US as Green Card holders.  Even so, I believe all three have already been released back into the US still retaining their LPR status.  Albeit, after lengthily and harrowing detentions waiting for court hearings. The three detentions have received a lot of media attention in the Philippines and generated a huge amount of dis-information in Filipino social media space.

 

I reckon the number of Filipino LPR's who have traveled and re-entered the US without the slightest trouble at all over the same time period is in the tens of thousands.  The odds of having any trouble seems close to non-existent.  Though, given recent events, LPR's who do have previous criminal convictions may want to reconsider international travel.

All these stories are doing what they are ment to do. Scare you and have you hate USCIS and Trump. Fact is all laws are being enforced now. Your embezilment conviction from 12 years ago has not disappeared and you did not get away with it, A 15 year Green Card holder probably has something to hide in their eyes and they will investigate. Canadians with pot convictions are being denied too. Just because your Pot case was 20 years ago does not make it any less of a threat that you will not be detained. If your wife has nothing on her record  and she was honest when processing her immigration forms she has little to fear. You Tube has a 85% misinformation rate now. Anything to get a click.
