As my lawyer told me: Don't open it! The "seal" is important for CBP to authorize your entry. If you do open it, then you will have to go back to the Embassy and have it resealed.

Sounds like you got your answer, I’m assuming you opened it already?

Did you open the plastic surrounding the yellow envelope to retrieve your passport or did you breach the actual yellow envelope?

If you opened the envelope which says "Do not open", then you have to contact the consulate.  Good luck.

If it’s been fully opened it’ll need to be resealed. Not sure which consulate you’ve applied at, but here’s the info from the London consulate - https://uk.usembassy.gov/visa-faqs-information-for-immigrant-visa-holders-and-applicants/#:~:text=If your visa package (a,it was damaged during delivery.
