Just had my immigration medical today, everything went well except the civil surgeon mentioned needing a second dose of the Measles vaccine which I was unaware of. He didn't say MMR, he specifically mentioned Measles. The panel physician at my medical in my home country didn't mention anything and marked my one dose of MMR as complete on my DS-3025. Would appreciate it if someone could point me towards any official guidelines that show how many shots are needed for the Measles vaccine/MMR

At the time of my overseas medical I had every single vaccine except the last 2 doses of Hep B. The Panel Physician marked it as B Blanket Waiver for insufficient time interval but did not mark my DS-3025 as Complete for some reason. She marked it off as "K Visa applicant electing not to get vaccinated at this examination" despite me having all the required vaccines.

From what I understood researching it online, as long as my DS-3025 does not have "Completed" marked off on it, it doesn't matter that I have all the vaccines required.

That is correct. An i693 will now be required due to your DS3025 being incomplete.

https://www.uscis.gov/tools/designated-civil-surgeons/vaccination-requirements

"Q. Certain vaccine series can only be completed with multiple visits to the civil surgeon. Am I required to complete the entire series before the civil surgeon can sign the Form I-693?

A. You are only required to receive a single dose of each vaccine when you visit the civil surgeon. You are encouraged to follow up with your private health care provider to complete the series. Once you have received the single dose appropriate at the time, the civil surgeon can sign and certify the Form I-693."

That's all from me until your timeline is completed. Godspeed.

What you quoted is not relevant at all to the question asked. The question asked was how many doses of Measles are needed for the purposes of immigration. It seems you don't actually have a clue.

Replies in this thread should address themselves to the OP's question.

Yes, the OP certainly needs a VJ timeline, but he should not be badgered in such fashion.

Accusing people of not having a clue violates the site's Terms of Service.

Return to the OP's specific question and be civil in every post.

per USCIS, you only need one dose off all required vaccines. vaccines that have multiple stages should be done on your own time if you so choose, but are not required for immigration

"Certain vaccine series can only be completed with multiple visits to the civil surgeon. Am I required to complete the entire series before the civil surgeon can sign the Form I-693?

according to the CDC it is recommended it get 2 doses of the measles vaccine (which is just the MMR vaccine, there isn't one just for measles). this is usually done in childhood, but if older children or adults don't have record of receiving it, 1 to 2 doses is recommended.

"Older children, adolescents, & adults—Also need 1 or 2 doses of MMR vaccine if they don't have evidence of immunity"

https://www.cdc.gov/measles/vaccines/index.html

this could be what the physician is referring to, if they said it is required for immigration, that is incorrect according to USCIS

My wife had a 2nd dose of MMR.  She voluntarily completed all her doses at the local health department.  A second dose is indicated in special situations.  In her case it was frequent international travel.  You can see the adult schedule, including special situations, on the CDC website:  https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/imz-schedules/adult-notes.html#note-mmr

The special situations are as follows:

HIV, Students in postsecondary institutions, household or close contacts of immunocompromised people with no evidence of immunity to measles, mumps, or rubella; and international travelers.

None of these apply to me.

The definition for international travelers by the CDC is as follows:

Quote

International travelers

Persons aged 6 months and older who will be traveling internationally to any country outside the United States who do not have presumptive evidence of immunity should be vaccinated with measles-containing vaccine if they are not already protected against measles, mumps, and rubella.

I couldn't leave the country even if wanted to, my K1 visa was only valid for 1 entry and I would not be able to return to the US. I don't plan on applying for advance parole since I have no plans on traveling anywhere in the near future.

Question the surgeon or maybe just find a new one?

That is a tough one. You can either send in what you have and see if the person reviewing it notices you have all the required vaccines. Long shot, very long.

Try to contact the clinic you did your K1 at and let them know they made an error on the form if they can fix it by marking it complete. Again a long shot but I would try.

Try and correct the civil surgeon and hope for the best. Other than that it would be get the shot or try to find another civil surgeon which will be more money.

Already on the second Civil Surgeon. The first one was a disaster. Unfortunately it's 4 hours to the closest nearby Civil Surgeon so these trips are not easy to make. Will try to make it work with the current Civil Surgeon and see what happens, unfortunately I'm not very optimistic.

The problem is doctors rarely like to be corrected, even when they're wrong. It's the principle of it that bothers me, if you say something that is wrong and I can point you to the official guidelines that have to be followed that show you're wrong, you should just admit it. Most doctors just double down. The USCIS and CDC websites clearly state that only 1 dose is required unless there are special circumstances, which don't apply here.

Called the clinic today, told the nurse we were told we needed a second measles shot but the CDC website says only one is required, she said she will ask the doctor because he knows what's required. That makes literally no sense considering we just said he was wrong according to the CDC website.
