The Roosevelt Reservation is the 60-foot (18 m)-wide strip of land owned by the United States Federal Government along the United States side of the United States–Mexico Border in three of the four border states.

Although his resignation letter, dated March 3, did not state his reason for stepping down, it followed shortly after a man awaiting deportation proceedings, accused by federal law enforcement of being affiliated with a Venezuelan gang, was arrested at Cano’s home.

Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, 23, faces federal firearm charges after Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant on Feb. 28 at a Las Cruces residence owned by Cano and his wife, Nancy.
Court filings state that agents recovered four firearms from a neighboring home owned by April Cano, who is identified in court filings as Nancy Cano’s daughter. A criminal complaint alleges Ortega-Lopez admitted to possessing and firing them, as seen in photos and videos posted on Facebook last December.

This sounds great, at first blush -- far away, no garden spot (thus encouraging self-deportation), and probably very cheap for us and lucrative for Rwanda.

US immigration authorities appear to have begun deporting migrants to South Sudan, attorneys say

 

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration appears to have begun deporting people from Myanmar and Vietnam to South Sudan despite a court order restricting removals to other countries, attorneys for the migrants said in court documents.

Immigration authorities may have sent up to a dozen people from several countries to Africa, they told a judge.

Those removals would violate a court order saying people must get a "meaningful opportunity" to argue that sending them to a country outside their homeland would threaten their safety, attorneys said.

‘Coordinated and targeted’: 11 arrested in wake of officer shooting outside North Texas ICE facility

 

“This was an egregious attack on federal and local law enforcement officers,” said Nancy Larson, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, during a press conference Monday. “Those who use violence against law enforcement officers will be found and they will be prosecuted with the toughest criminal statutes and penalties that we have available to us.“

 

On Monday in the South Texas city of McAllen, a man with an assault rifle fired dozens of rounds at federal agents and a U.S. Border Patrol facility, injuring a police officer, before authorities shot and killed him, according to the Associated Press. Authorities identified the shooter as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, believed to be 27, who they said shot at agents exiting the building, which is near the U.S.-Mexico border.

 

In North Texas, court documents claim as many as 12 people dressed in all black were shooting fireworks towards the Prairieland Detention Center on Friday. At least one person allegedly began to spray graffiti, damaging vehicles and a guard structure in the parking lot, according to court records.

 

Correctional officers called dispatch a few minutes later and two unarmed officers came out to the fence line to attempt to talk to the group of people, according to the documents. That’s when the unsealed complaint alleges a person wearing a green mask in nearby woods began “signaling” to the group with a flashlight.
