Have completed adoption procedures with child from overseas.  Currently I'm living overseas.  What is my next step for the child with Immigration?  What is the process for getting the child to USA?

Is this child related to you or your wife? Child of your aunt, uncle, cousin, wife's sister etc?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I-130 Question.

I am a US citizen and my wife is a US Green Card Holder.  Certainly we adopted her neice from Ethiopia and need advice on completing the I-130 application.  The child is 13 years old and has been living with us here overseas since August 2023.

We were wondering with the adoption certify by the Ethiopian courts, would the child be considered immediate family?

As we do are research we notice the processing time can take some time and would like to bring the child to US by the end of this year.

No chance of that.

If you and the adoption meet the criteria set out in the link given to you above, then you can start the process but it's not going to happen within 9 months - by the end of next year is more realistic.

Additionally, you need to have had certain amount of time with the child in your custody - check the links provided earlier - 2 years is what I've seen mentioned.

Okay thank.  We have been living overseas since 2019, since 2021, the child has joined us doing her school breaks.  We also have been provide care for the child since 2019.

Just wondering if this would be enough to passed the requirement?
