Visa verbally approved however "Rejected" in the tracking system

Last week I had my US visa interview for the VISAs B1/B2/C1/D1 in Paris. I'm a dual passport holder (one European) with B1/B2 in the non European passport , however due to job requirements I need the VISAs in the European one.

The interview was quite fast, however during it the officer mentioned that someone with a very similar name as mine had some a legal/criminal issues.

Still the VISAs were approved as per the Officer words.

However today I just found on the tracking system it's stated as Refused . By some internet research it looks it's under administrative processing.

Anyone had this experience before? Any idea of the waiting time for this and what can be done about it? I need the passport for a work trip in two weeks...

Thanks in advance

Verbal "approvals" have no value.  They mean absolutely nothing.  "Administrative Processing" can mean anything....and there is no time frame for competition.

Yeah, that's what I've been reading... However it's not even being tagged as administrative processing but refused. Looking for anyone with a similar experience, specially in Paris to have an ideia regarding the waiting time from anyone who been through this in Paris.

refused does not mean refused to immigration

it is just the term that is posted till decision is made

i would think they are using fingerprints and the system to verify the name(s) and record of the other person

Refused is a quirk in the system. Approved visas show as refused for a few days until it turns to issued. A site search will show many posts here on VJ about this issue.

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

They use the term “Refused” to essentially say the application is still pending, and “Administrative Processing” to show they are actually working on something.  Refused does not mean Denied, and hopefully the Consulate will change it to Issued soon.
