No DCF at Embassy Question - Ireland

Hope someone can talk me down the current panic attack I’m having.

 

I’m being relocated for work back to the States and I always assumed DCF would work given both me and my spouse are residents in Ireland and I’m a citizen.

 

Well, I doom-scrolled here and saw a few threads that Dublin does not offer DCF. 
 

Hoping I’m wrong but would there be any other avenue if this is true - such as applying in London (have read conflicting things on here)?

 

If anyone has some insight; it would be greatly appreciated for a very worried spouse.

Coming up this week. I meet with my company immigration relo company on Monday and then from there will start the process from there. 

 

Natural worrier here and decided to over research. Saw a couple threads of people saying they were told Dublin didn’t do DCF and the anxiety went from there.

 

Regardless, will keep the thread updated as I’ve seen a few inquiries about Dublin on here so hopefully my journey may help and hopefully good news.

Unfortunately not every embassy offers DCF. And sometimes DCF is offered in very narrow situations. 

I know for Seoul DCF is not always offered for job relocations but during less busy times it is... 

I would ask Dublin just to be sure because the situation might have changed or your circumstances might be considered exceptional.

All consulates are authorized to accept DCF for exceptional circumstances....at their discretion. Ask them.

Yeah, somewhere around 2018/2019 DCF became very difficult if not impossible to do. My wife and I were considering the process during that time and then they changed it....it is what it is. Send an email to the embassy asking, but prepare all your info to file the I-130 through regular means.

It didn't become impossible, it's just that the USCIS field offices abroad closed, which meant they no longer accept USC's who simply live abroad. Now you have to have "exceptional circumstances" and the whole process goes directly via the Embassy, the USCIS aspect is dropped completely. There are still a select few USCIS field offices open but they closed the overwhelming majority of them. 

 

Basically, in ye olden days: Be USC living abroad > apply at USCIS field office abroad and do an in-person drop off of the I-130 > wait until the Embassy takes over to process the case.

 

Compared to the current "exceptional circumstances" scenario: USC living abroad contacts Embassy directly and presents case/evidence of "exceptional circumstances" > Embassy accepts case and processes both your I-30 and all other paperwork.

 

It basically went from "open to all USC's living abroad" to "open to select USC's living abroad who meet specific requirements" so that's what happened.
